Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

I just texted DH that SAB now has Dole Whips. He is very excited!!! That was one reason he liked staying at Poly.
Excited about the dole whips at YAB! Thanks for that update Erika!

Looking at the pictures, doesn't seem like you can get the swirl with vanilla. They took that off the menu at the stand in MK as well and now it is just pineapple so if you epwant the swirl, I think that only the Poly sells them.

Saw on another board that they may be working on the Yacht Club bus stop. Is this accurate? If so, do we have to use the BC bus stop while they work on YC? Thanks!

I've read mention of this as well! Curious as to what kind of work they're doing... Anybody know?

Now I'm questioning myself. We should land at MCO at 10:30 a.m. and I made a reservation for lunch at 12:30 p.m. Am I cutting it too close? We are using Magical Express. Thanks!
For our trips in Sept 2014 and April 2015 our flight landed at MCO around 9:40am and we have gotten to the BC around 11:15am. Both of those arrivals were on a Wednesday. I'm not sure how it will be on a Saturday when there is more airport traffic. It will be close.

19 days and I don't know what to do with myself. Can someone help me with my arrival day plan. We land at MCO at 3:10, we have a rental car and I can go right to the car not the counter. We are at the BC CL. My family will be looking for food soon after we land. I did not make any ADR's. I am secretly hoping to get into San Angle Inn or Via Napoli.
Realistically, how will my arrival go? Or shall I ask what do you think the time line will be? We have a 6-7 FP+ for Soarin, that I don't want to skip, however, one look at that pool and my kids are going to want to swim.
Help!

Time line - land at 3:10pm, walk off the plane around 3:30pm, get to car rental place and then pick up car? I really don't know. But it will take about 40 minutes to drive from the airport to the BC once you are in the car as long as the traffic is normal. You should be able to make it to your Soarin' fp. :)

Via Napoli is extremely popular and I would think San Angel would be, too. I suggest you see if you could snag a last minute ADR at one of those places.

WHAT TIME DOES STORMALONG BAY OPEN IN THE MORNINGS???
(I'm yelling so you can hear me over all the kid drama. I figure since you have already hit the bar the family is acting up for the inevitable "Momma-Cide" that happens on these family trips.

LOL. I haven't had time to catch up on much - but I saw this. So true. Between my niece and 12-year-old, I was ready to jump off my balcony.

We ran into Scott and Tom at the dessert party last night, which was a lovely surprise. I don't know that I'd bother with it again. The view of the fireworks was great. But there are only so many desserts I can eat.

So we got a room on the 4th floor. Former balcony, but we got a pool view - so a nice upgrade. We could see the fireworks from HS from our room. It was awesome. Today is a few hours at the pool and then wander the world showcase before dinner at Flying Fish. If my tween behaves, she can join us. I keep pointing out that the Sandcastle Club takes kids up to 12.

Already hoping to take care of a magical deal for next year. I was told they should have dates in Septemver. I think I'm sticking with the BC. I can write more later about the pros and cons of each resort, but honestly, BC just feels like home to me.

Checking in from Vegas

My mom is in Las Vegas right now too! I prefer the dry oven to all the humidity we'll have in FL... and my hair agrees.

booked the Fantasy 7 night cruise on October 10th

Awesome, sounds like fun, I really want to go on a cruise someday but DH isn't a big fan of the idea. I supposed it's okay since I can always talk him into Disney World without a problem!

Ooo, keep us posted if you hear they are releasing. I may go this route again for next year. I really want go to during the Halloween party though. I saw they have a bounce back for September but my family is not really into free dining because the kids eat like birds... a room discount would be much preferred. Maybe I should email my travel agent too... :)

That is disappointing, my favorite kind of Dole Whip is with the vanilla swirl. But I will adapt to the pineapple Dole Whip at SAB with some rum thrown in. :-)

I'm waiting for those deals too! TA told me same thing. Glad you are enjoying your stay. We found the same thing-BC is definitely home!

With a lot of folks either just returning, there now, or arriving shortly, I felt the need to do "something" for my own trip even though its a couple of months away.

A few online clicks later, I have placed my Garden Grocer order, ordered a bunch of travel size items (didn't want to "borrow" a bunch of jelly packets from our local diner), and decided to see what all the fuss was about and ordered a bunch of packing cubes. Insert my DH's eye roll here......

Is it possible to spend more before your trip than when you are actually there?!

I initially asked about the Poly. But honestly, I don't know that I'll bother. I love it here. Objectively, there was nothing wrong with the WL. It just wasn't a great fit. BC is. So why try to fix what isn't broke?

We love the location and vibe of the Hard Rock.

I have a very comprehensive (like multiple chapter) review of the Hard Rock at the beginning of my Hijinks and Shenanigans trip report from 2013 (link in my signature). That trip was 3 nights Hard Rock, 4 nights Beach Club. I am currently in the midst of writing my report from our Feb "Freezing Florida" trip to the Darkside/HR if you want to check those out.

And in related, but off-topic news, I checked our Hard Rock room rate last night, and I was FINALLY able to apply an annual passholder rate to our room- saved $80 per night!!! :woohoo:

:thumbsup2
YAY, for room savings per night! LOVE IT!:thumbsup2 Wow, COMPREHENSIVE TR from 2013 at HR..Room 5112, garden view seemed lovely....LOVE the pics of the HR pool(REALLY NICE POOL), menus from Rockaway Beach Club, and "WALK this way" is a GREAT HELP!:cheer2: So, to get a AAA rate, one has to call the HR DIRECTLY?:confused3 When I called the toll free number on the Universal Resorts website and spoke to a CS rep, they said that rates for May have not been released to try back in a few months as it gets closer to May...THANKS again!:goodvibes

Very true! DH is ok with trying the other resorts but he does ask why we bother! I did like Coronado, AKL and YC. We may try the Poly next summer (if those deals come through) but finish with BC because we know we won't be disappointed. Booked our first cruise then plan on a few days at WDW and DH already said the only place we will stay is BC. No complaints here!
