Hello All,

Has anyone heard from Damian or knows him outside of the DIS? He has not posted on the boards since June and I need confirmation from him if he is still on the cruise. Any help would be appreciated.

If anyone would like to join, we need to know asap to book this. We have three confirmed and need four in order to do this dive. Please PM me with any questions.

Thank you,
Nickole

He is on FB and part of the WBTA FB group... Might try to PM him there...

Gosh I am so confused. I want to take the virgin train from the Manchester Airport to London Euston on Sept 7th. It says it is from Manchester Piccadilly station. Does anyone know if this will stop at the airport or do I have to find a way to this station? I keep reading and reading but I genuinely can't figure it out. :confused3. Any help Is very appreciated.

Do you mean instead of ordering ahead? Hmmm... that could work. They don't have a store in Orlando, but they have locations at the airport. Is there a difference between airport locations and "stores"? This may be a stupid question, but do they usually have the currency on hand? We have to wait 2 or 3 days to get it from the bank.

We'd still have to make an extra trip to MCO after we get back from the cruise. We're only flying to Barca from there. We're driving to Orlando and back home again. But I guess that could be done.

I can only tell you in San Francisco they had plenty of Euros. You might just call to check. It worked really well for us Are you leaving your car in Orlando? If so, hope it is not too far from the airport.

Another suggestion about the foreign currency. Try hotels. Sometimes they will exchange them for you. I know our hotel does.
18 more sleeps until we leave for Barcelona
.
Dennis and I were discussing how much money we should get in Euros and GBPs, and I started wondering aloud about something. He said, "How will you find out about that?" and I said, "I'll ask on the DIS. They'll know." So here it is.

If we have "leftover" Euros and GBPs, is there any real disadvantage to applying them to our on-board account - like, lousy exchange rates?

When I checked with my bank about buying foreign currency, they said they'll only buy it back in units of $250! They also charge a fee to buy it in the first place, which totally sucks b/c I've had accounts there for ages. So I was thinking, if we don't spend it all at the European ports and Barca, and we can't sell it back to the bank, we might as well spend it on the ship. Thoughts?

I have updated Page One for Jost VanDyke for the 74 of us CONFIRMED catamaran folks! I will be sending each of you a PM to please let me know your full names and cabin # after I clear out my inbox LOL later this evening.
Amazing news! Thanks for doing all that work! Can't wait to relax

Hi Everyone-

We've established that the first time change doesn't occur until the night that we leave Gibraltar, so there is a 6 hour difference between the east coast the ship.

As the first jet hit at 8:46, I'd like to start gathering at around 2:30 roughly. We're still open to suggestions as to where to meet. However, if everyone would prefer to remember it on their own, it whatever way they'd like- just let me know.

Thanks again to everyone for all thoughts posted about the anniversary.

Possibly a quiet place where there's a TV. NYC should be doing readings from the wtc site and unveiling of the new memorial. I don't know the ship at all, but some type of lounge?

I just got an email from BBC saying I have one free ticket to see a brand new sitcom being taped at the bbc... so my friday, sept 9 will go as follows. Morning in london and tower of london tour, lunch, ride over to the BBC, doctor who experience, taping of Watson and Oliver. Cheaper than the West End.
I'm very very excited!

Count me as one of the Paris fans! It is truly one of the world's great cities.
I am reading a cookbook called Paris Sweets by Dorie Greenspan and I now realize that there are so many wonderful patisseries that I did NOT visit in Paris. She gives recipes from the best patisseries in the city and then writes a little about each place....it really makes you want to go to every single one in the book!

I was impressed at how the Eiffel Tower really got to me. I thought it would be really touristy and just another thing to see, but it was thrilling to see it - especially at night when they do the sparkly lights.

I didn't plan to do a master list but I probably could make one if people really want one. One of the reasons I did not plan to publish a master list is some people were very concerned about publishing their room numbers due to concerns over children's safety.

I would welcome comments and concerns to see if people really want their room numbers published in the DIS Navigator.

I think it would be helpful. Maybe for security reasons we could just post people's screen names w/ their room #'s so nobody would know who was in the room or not unless they took the time to cross-reference. Anyhow, it would be nice to have some people's room #'s so you could catch up w/ them on the cruise if you missed them at one of the events.

just my 2 cents!

Drink OJ or those fabulous juices from the Bouqueria, get an early start and do the things you really want to see that day. The day you get in will be a bit of a daze so go easy on yourself. See ya around town!

I agree, the best way to get over jet lag is to get out in the sun and walk around - don't push it too much, get an early dinner (not so easy in Spain) and hit the pillow around 8 or 9 :thumbsup2

I love those Boqueria juices. They have every fruit flavor you could dream up. Here are some Boqueria Market photos w/ one of the juices stands at the top:

That's a good idea. Yes, we're driving to Orlando and leaving for Barca from there. We're leaving my car at my parents' house and they will drop us off at the airport and pick us up at PC after the cruise. They live about 15 minutes from MCO. We have a ressie at OKW for the Saturday night, so we can go to the parks and burn one of our remaining Military Salute days.

We'll give DCL a call, and if that doesn't give us enough information we'll go to Guest Services when we get to the ship or shortly thereafter. Thanks Josh!

HA thanks, yes I'm living live on the edge with this one. I think a few people are flying the morning of the 10th

I used to work at the gates at the airport... can't tell you how many people I saw sitting there crying because they were going to miss their cruise..... just sayin.... Sending you lots of pixiedust:

Sounds like a great day. A little bit of "normal" tourist and some unique adventures. :thumbsup2

Yes,MCO does have a money exchange and always has had plenty of eveything. If you exchange $1000.00 (700 euros) there is no fee, and they will buy back anything you don't use. Also, the initial purchase can be in different currencies. Hope this helps. Jean

"can't tell you how many people I saw sitting there crying because they were going to miss their cruise....."

gee, we're leaving Boston on the 6th - think we're playing it safe!!!! :rotfl2:

Josh, you sound just like some of my daughters - gotta take the chance!

Thanks for the pixy dust!! London would be the coolest city to me to get stuck in. Knock on wood it won't happen but if the plane ain't leaving I won't be crying. I'm ever the optimist. I'd go cross Abbey road :-D
