~We seldom report of having eaten too little~ F&W Edition Taste, Shake 10/31

Hi all!

We arrived safely, but yesterday was a very hectic day. We were up at 5 and going non stop until 10pm.

We sampled items from Canada, Greece, Cheese and Charcuterie and Ireland. As a preview, items were ranked from 5 "a culinary revelation" to 1 ""run away screaming"

Today we had a fantastic first morning at the Magic Kingdom and a very filing lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern.

I will have a large update tonight. Including drinks at La Cava del Tequila and dinner at La Hacienda de San Angel.

Glad you arrived safely and are having fun, can't wait to read your reviews!

Sorry guys but the Ethernet port in our room at the Beach Club is broken. :(

We switch hotels on the 27th so I will have reviews then ;)

Tonight we tries Hacienda de San Angel.

WOW!! I absolutely loved everything! We give it a 5 all the way!

Can't wait to see the pics!

Hi Everyone!

We are checked in to Coronado and I finally have internet access! I'll be able to update tonight :)

I'm going to start my shutterfly upload and head to the pool. When I get back I should be able to post my first actual review!

Thanks so much for being patient and sticking with the review. :worship:

Ok, waiting patiently- sort of; really looking forward to some of your awesome reviews!

F&W Booths 2010

CANADA

As usual, we loved everything! Cheese soup was heavenly (5 out of 5) and the Maple Glazed Salmon was great (4 out of 5)

GREECE

The souvlaki was a bit bland (3 out of 5) but the spanikopita was wonderful (4 out of 5). I didn't try the Greek Salad.

CHEESE & CHARCUTERIE

ry%3D400

The foundue was terrible (1 out of 5...aka run away screaming). It was watery, the bread was too hard and it was just not representative of good fondue.

The charcuterie plate was amazing value for the money (3 out of 5 overall). My favorite was the beef, followed by the duck. The ham was very ordinary.

Isn't the mini flute adorable?? We only saw these for prosecco at the cheese & charcuterie booth.

IRELAND

I didn't really feel the hype of the Lobster and Scallop Fisherman Pie, but it was just okay in my books (3 out of 5)

The cheese plate was a great value and contrary to previous reports, they were providing Kerry Gold Butter for the bread (4 out of 5)

The chocolate lava cake was phenomenal!! I would give it 6 out of 5 if I could :thumbsup2

AND....to make up for my lack of posts, something new and exciting that I haven't seen posted anywhere yet! (Though not food related...)

I cannot express how AMAZING everything was here! Our server, Veronica, was attentive, funny and very helpful with any questions we had about the menu. Service was a 10! The food was incredibly good. We are not huge fans of Mexican, and we assume they have toned down the flavors for the masses, but we loved it so much that we are going back tomorrow night! :thumbsup2

Taste, Shake and Indulge - Oct 30th

We arrived at Bistro de Paris at about 2:25, checked in and were escorted upstairs. Tables were pre-assigned and set for 6.

Our seminar was the last one of the festival, and our host Excelle, was very enthusiastic and friendly, coming around to meet and mingle with each table.

At each seat the following was found:

A shaker with muddler, strainer and straw. An empty glass, a plate with lemon and mint, and a side plate with two madelines (one orange, one chocolate chip) and a square of 55% dark chocolate.

Shortly after we were seated we were presented with:

A grand mimosa, orange juice, champagne and grand marnier.

Delicious!

After a brief history of Grand Marnier, servers brought around tasting portions (generous ones I must say) of Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge, Grand Marnier 100th Anniversary and Grand Marnier 150th Anniversary.

Nibbling on madelines and chocolate between steps, Ecxelle pointed out the different tasting notes in each type of Grand Marnier.

The most interesting part of the seminar was the cocktail making. Servers assisted in separating the shakers from the glasses. The cocktail wasvery refreshing, but we were pretty close to finished after a mimosa, 3 shots and a cocktail!

The dessert presentation came next, and 4 servers demonstrated the technique of making crepes Suzette.

We loved the event and felt it was great value for the money, however, that much alcohol is not a great idea when heading out into the sunny crowded mayhem of Epcot on a Saturday at F&W! Lol

Some how I missed the starting of this Review, subbing and will come back and read from the beginning.

I really hope that they bring back the Grand Marinier tasting next year! It sounds wonderful! However, I'm guessing that they rotate the countries who have tastings because last year we did a sake tasting in Japan and that wasn't offered this year, either was the tequila tasting. Perhaps it will be in Italy, Morocco or Britain next year...

I can't wait to do PFTS next year, but we will go for the reserved seating or not do the party, with a disabled person riding a scooter we can't do the running of the Bulls! :lmao:
