Day 2:

Got up early and checked out the Wilderness Lodge. This resort is amazing!!!! It was all decorated for the holidays and was absolutely breathtaking!! Their tree is enormous and the wreaths all had antlers in them. Totally themed for that resort. The lodge itself is beautiful, although the rooms are about the same size as the moderates (maybe a little bigger). Their is a giant fireplace in the lobby, as well as a brook. Did not get a chance to dine at either the Wispering Canyon Cafe or Artist's Point, but the decor is very nice. We did dine at the Roaring Forks Cafe and was very pleased with the quality of the food. Had our refillable mug, which came in handy. The 1st room we had was on the 6th floor with a dormer balcony and no view. We switched to another room and had Room #2115. It was on the first floor and had a nice patio to sit on. Although the view was not that great either, location wise it was great. Right near the lobby and the pool. The main pool was in kinda a u shape with one part having a water slide and the other being attached to the brook from the lobby. There was also 2 whirlpools hidden behind some rocks. Finally there's a gyser that goes off on the other side of the whirlpools. Even though it was Christmas time (Christmas music playing in the background, there was still plenty of outdoor sounds to keep you in the mood of the resort). Even the ducks (yes real one's) had fun in the pool. Had some work to finish up on and was able to find a quiet table to set up my laptop. It was kinda hard to take my eyes off my surroundings long enough to focus on work. Headed back to my room to meet up with my family. This was kind of a down day for us, so we headed for the Contemporary Resort (via the boat launch) to view their decorations and to try and dine at Chef Mickey’s. The boat launch for both the Contemporary and the Magic Kingdom was great and did not have to wait very long for either. We had called that morning and were told they were sold out, but we were able to walk right in and had a great table. All of the characters stopped by to see the kids and to take pictures. The food is all-you-can-eat, buffet style and was very good. After eating, we walked around the Contemporary and checked out their decorations. They had a sleigh made out of gingerbread and full size characters made out of sugar!! Both were amazing! We then hopped on the Monorail and headed for the Grand Floridian to check out their decorations. They had a gingerbread house with trains going through it (lost one of the boys there – big time Thomas the Train Engine fan, so it took some prying to get him to walk away from it) when you first walk into the resort, as well as a full sized gingerbread house in their lobby, that had a mini gift shop inside it. The tree was enormous and so were the ornaments!! Walked around the resort, then headed back to the WL. Went swimming and chilled out by the pool. The temps were in the mid-80's and sunny. My sister and I rented water mice and took the boys for a ride on those. So cool, especially since you can drive them over by the Contemporary, Polynesian, Grand Floridian and the Magic Kingdom. The boys had a blast and so did we!! By the time we got them back they were out like a light. While the kids slept, I had to head back to the Contemporary to hit their business center to finish the work that I had started earlier that morning. The staff was very nice and accommodating. By the time I got back, everyone was ready for some supper, so we headed over to the All Star Movies to check it out and grab a bite. I had never been, so it was cool to see. The boys LOVED the oversized Toy Story area (since it is their favorite movie) and asked if we could stay in the Buzz Lightyear building next time we visited. They noticed everything, including the green army men on top of the buildings! The food was very good and we were impressed with the quality. Once we could pry them away, we then headed over to the Fort Wilderness Resort for their movie night (A Goofy Movie). The kids lasted for about an hour, and then got pooped out, so we headed back to the WL and went to bed.

Isn't the WL just incredible at holiday time? I could just sit in that lobby for hours and look around. Did you catch any of the choir groups that performed there during your stay? They were great. Thanks for the trip reports

Hope you get your work done soon. A fun filled day for all. Thanks for posting!
