Hello again! I'll make this short and sweet since I believe pictures do most of the talking. Last year on my birthday, I decided I wanted to turn 30 at Disney World. I knew that I'd likely go by myself, but I prefer to travel solo anyway. So after my one day December trip, I went and booked my birthday outing! I went March 13-16, and needless to say I loved every minute of it.
Day 1. Let's relax and not do anything stressful:
Landed in Orlando bright and early, got on the Magical Express, and headed to Pop Century. This hotel intrigued me as it was still an economy hotel, but it had it's own dedicated bus line. Plus the pictures online made it look awesome. And it was awesome! Check in was a breeze, my room was perfect for me, and it wasn't far from the bus. I got a preferred room in the 70's, so it was maybe a 7 minute walk from my hotel room to the bus stop. Not bad at all.
After getting situated, I made my way over the Magic Kingdom area. I used my first day as a resort hopping day, something I had yet to do! I made myself a hair appointment at Ivy Trellis inside the Grand Floridian. I took the ferry boat over, and it was the perfect start for an easy day. This was my first time inside the GF, and oh goodness. So beautiful.
I was an hour early for my hair appointment, but they took me anyway. I was in and out within 45 minutes, paid $65 (that included tip) and was on my way. I would absolutely suggest this salon to anyone on property or off.
After that I headed on over to downtown Disney to meet up with some of my friends who live in the area. We went to the T Rex cafe, and it was a lot of fun! The food was pretty meh, and while our server was friendly it took *forever* to get anything. But still, not a bad experience. I did get myself a nice little Maleficent cake pop. I could have eaten like 28126191 of them.
My friends and I said our goodbye's, and I headed over to the Polynesian resort. I had every intention on drinking all of the drinks, but this little number set me back $15. And while I guess I knew it would be a little on the expensive side going in, I wasn't prepared to spend $30 on two drinks. And yea I'm aware I could have gotten the drinks without the festive cups, but I'm a go big or go home kind of gal. Plus it was for my 30th birthday, so logic can suck it.
Sadly I didn't take many pics at this resort, but I can safely say I would spend someone else's money to stay here. I love Tiki themed anything, and the whole vibe of the resort was laid back. I spent the rest of the evening listening to a ukulele singer, and eventually made my way back to my room to sleep.
