Too much food ?!?!?!? Is that really a thing? A Deluxe Dining Report. ***Complete***

I've been a lurker on this board for years and have used your reviews to help me decide where to dine for every trip that I've been on. I've always wanted to do a dining report to give back but never could manage to remember to take pictures! But this trip was going to be very different then any other trip I've been on. This was going to a childless trip! And DH and I were going deluxe to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. We both love to eat and can pack down some food so while I knew we were going to be getting a lot of food, I couldn't imagine that it would really be too much food. So that's how I came up with the title of the report.

Be warned: this dining report will have pictures but will be light on words. I just don't have the writing chops that so many contributors to this board have been gifted with.

So here goes my attempt at a dining report . . . . . . . . .

Who: Me - Jane and DH -Jeff
Where: We flew in late on June 29th so spent the first night at All Star Sports but the remaining nights at Boardwalk Villa's. We had rented points from friends of ours so we could stay deluxe.
My itinerary before we left was:

June 30th - Be Our Guest (Breakfast) and The Wave (Dinner)
July 1st - Tokyo Dining (Lunch) and The Yachtsman (Dinner)
July 2nd - Coral Reef (Lunch) and Tiffins (Dinner)
July 3rd - California Grill (Brunch) and Captain's Grill (Dinner)
July 4th - Le Cellier (Lunch) and California Grill (Dinner)
July 5th - Ohana (Dinner)

But that's not exactly how things went down!

After a long day of work and flying, I needed some protein for breakfast. We had decided to take it easy our first morning so cancelled our pre park opening BOG reservation the night before. A snack credit pastry just wasn't going to cut it so I sent DH to the End Zone to grab us a couple kids meals. He was kind enough to get diet cokes with both meals because I am unfortunately addicted to caffeine in the diet soda form so he knew I'd be miserable without it. We paid for these babies out of pocket.

The eggs were delicious! I like my scrambled eggs wet and these were perfect! I love bacon so that too hit the spot. DH loved his waffles so we were off to a good start.

While riding Big Thunder Mountain, we were able to snag BOG lunch reservations. Since we planned to pay out of pocket and I wasn't exactly starving, I went ahead and ordered off the kids menu. The shrimp were good but definitely could have used some Old Bay or some other seasoning to give them more flavor. DH loves the braised pork at BOG so that's what he ordered. The fries were nice and crispy and so good! We both cleaned our plates.

After checking into Boardwalk Villas after a morning of fun at MK, we decided to stroll over to Epcot and get snacks at Les Halles. Although DH's strawberry tart was delicious, my creme brulee was the real winner between these two delicious choices. So creamy with the yummy burnt sugar crust.

Ooh! Following along! You've got a couple of my favorites listed...can't wait to hear all about it :)

LOL your title dragged me in immediately!! We did the DxDDP last trip and my husband and kids kept complaining it was "too much food," and I was like what the heck, just order less!! Or don't take 5 desserts from the buffet! But you know how it is, once you've paid for it, you're entitled to it, so...you TAKE it! Human nature.

Anyway, I'm in. Can't wait to read more!

Dinner was at a new restaurant for us, The Wave. The water was kind enough to bring us complimentary Champagne toast to start our meal.

I ordered a Magical Star Cocktail which was very good. I never order alcohol at meals but since this was a special occasion . . . . . .

There was nothing special about the bread service but the appetizer was another story all together. The waiter had recommended the bacon and eggs appetizer and I remember seeing a review here on the dis. That was pure heaven on a plate. I was nice enough to let DH have a bite and we both agreed that it was amazing! While his mussels were good, they weren't anything special. He was hoping to dip the bread in the broth but the broth was kind of bland.

Both DH and I love a good ribeye and The Wave's ribeye did not disappoint. Our waiter said it was a new addition to the menu and I hope it remains. Although they weren't very thick steaks, they were cooked to pure medium rare perfection. We both ordered the same thing as I knew I wouldn't want to share. The mac and cheese was also very good although the greens were a little too bitter for my taste.

We had been scoping out the menu all day long so I was shocked when we got the dessert menu because there were only individual desserts listed, not the flights that were on the MDE and Touring plan apps. I'm thinking DH ordered an apple/peach cobbler while I get a chocolate/peanut butter dessert.

I absolutely loved The Wave and hope to go back our next trip! And we left full but not stuffed to the point of immobility or discomfort. That would come later in the trip . . . . .

Doing DxDDP myself in December and I love these reviews. I wonder if the ribeye replaces the filet at the wave - one of the last remaining 1 credit filets on property. booo although I do like ribeye.

Great reviews! We are planning an adults only DxDDP trip, so your reviews are super helpful. Thank you!

Joining in late! We really enjoyed our meal at The Wave as well. That bacon & egg appetizer truly was heaven on a plate! I would love to see it stay on the menu permanently!

Looking forward to more!

Joining in! I keep hearing great things about the egg appetizer at the Wave...I am going to have to try this!

I somehow managed to download all the pictures from my computer into the photo bucket account so in order to upload more food porn to the account I had to delete some of the pictures. In the process I found a picture of DH and I that I actually like. It's a family picture from our spring break trip so you can see the poor kids we left behind :D

The next morning we took advantage of our Boardwalk location to get breakfast from the Boardwalk Bakery. DH went through the line first and I guess was so excited to get his danish for free that he finished it before we got a picture . I decided I had to try the sausage gravy and biscuits even though we'd be paying out of pocket. I love sausage gravy and this gravy had just the right amount of salt and enough sausage to give it great flavor! And the biscuits were so tender.

I had been looking forward to our Tokyo Dining reservation as I love sushi. We were seated right by the windows so had a great view while dining.

DH ordered the green tea which he loved. We asked if we could sub out soup or something else for dessert since nothing on the dessert menu appealed to us. At first the waitress said no, but after we finished placing our order I guess she remembered that we could change it out for miso soup and a couple of other options. Since I was hoping to get the miso soup I didn't pay attention to the other options.

For appetizers I went with the calamari while DH chose the oysters which I'd also been considering. The oysters were so good! I think they were the best fried oysters I have ever eaten which is saying alot since being a born and bred Marylander I've eaten more then my share of fried oysters. There was no graininess to the oysters which can sometimes happen and they were so fresh tasting! The calamari on the other hand was painfully bland. The dipping sauce helped a little but not much. There was just no depth of flavor to it.

For our main entrees I got the Roppongi which had tempura shrimp, scallops, and veggies, sushi, cucumber salad, noodle salad, and sukiyaki beef rice. I found the rice and noodles to be very bland but I really enjoyed the tempura and sushi. DH got the grilled steak combination with volcano roll, grilled veggies, and the same rice. He loved the rice! :rolleyes1 He liked it so much he even ate 1/2 of mine! He enjoyed everything on his plate as a matter of fact!

And the waitress was kind enough to bring us dessert. And it was the dessert I was going to order :). It was really good! The Mango Mousse Cake was very light and just the right amount of sweetness.

We left feeling full! I would definitely go back to Tokyo Dining again. My mother is Vietnamese so I grew up going to a lot of Asian restaurants. This was a meal I would have eaten as a kid with her as a special treat.

Ooh! Following along! You've got a couple of my favorites listed...can't wait to hear all about it :)

We made a concerted effort to try a lot of new places since we didn't have the kids with us!

DH and I are both lifetime members of the clean your plate club so it's hard to remember that you don't have to finish everything you've taken off the buffet or ordered. I love being able to order what I want and get an appetizer and dessert with every meal. We did deluxe dining on a trip with the kids last fall and I just knew that DS would love being able to order off the adult menu. Any other time we eat out he begs to order an adult meal. He ordered off the kids menu at every single meal. Our last two dining credits were used for the kids hot dog meal at Brown Derby.

This Maryland family has Old Bay on our packing list for next month:wave:

Loving the reviews so far!

We love our Old Bay! Although we steam our crabs with Wye River crab house blend and beer. We've been on a couple of Disney cruises and I give out little cans of old bay as our fe gifts.
