Somewhat new here, planning our MAW trip!! Oct. 4th-10th, 2010

Maybe we will see each other at GKTW. We are also staying there starting October 3. We are driving in for my oldest daughters Wish trip from Texas.

We are following your blog.

Best of luck and have fun!

Thanks everyone! I haven't update much lately as there hasn't been much to update! LOL! One thing I'm a little disappointed about, but do understand, is that our night nurse won't get any passes to the parks. She's been to WDW a few times and wanted to go out and do things. She's not going to need to sleep the entire 14-16 hours that she's not working for us. I just feel bad that she's going to have buy her own passes.

Other than that, the only other thing is my son's decided on his costume. He wants to be an astronaut, he's totally into space lately! I mean, he's got at least 15 space books, he watches the "Wonders of the Solar System" and "The Universe" shows on cable, and the scary part is he can tell you all sorts of crazy things about it. He's a pretty smart kid I must say. But, he was an astronaut a couple years ago. So I had found one of the space jumpsuits that they wear, the blue ones, and he liked that. I just need to order it.

Oh, and I'm also getting our info to the amazing Disboutiquer's group! I can't wait to hear and see what they'll come up with for our family! So exciting!! Hopefully I'll have more to update soon!

Hmm, have you considered a trip to Cape Canaveral? (Why does that sound wrong? Are there two places they launch from?) It's supposed to be pretty close (45 mins maybe) from GKTW and I think the whole family is free.

Maybe when we get to GKTW we'll ask about it. But our MAW coordinator said that since it's not really part of Kira's wish, they can't do anything about it. But yes, it's about an hour away from there. We've taken a couple of cruises, long before all this and without kids, and we said from Cape Canaveral. So we fly into Orlando, then head over to C.C.

I wanted to add some pictures, since a few people have asked about them!

This was at a black tie gala for the Starlight Foundation. They were having their annual fund raising gala, and they invited 4 families to attend. They raised about $250,000 that night! The kids had an awesome time!!

ETA - I had to put the links in there since the photos didn't show up when I inserted them as photos... So if anyone can help with that! Thanks!

Awwww - they are ADORABLE!!! you are such a cute family Cindy!!!! :wizard:

There is a certain file that you have to post to have the pictures show? Is it the IMG file or something????

Maroo or anyone - do you remember is Cape Canaveral one of those places that can be included if you ask at the village for tickets? you know like the mini golf and cypress gardens and there were a few other places......

What a cute family you have!!!

Yes...

to post pictures you need to use the code that says . You can either copy it from flickr or you can use the button above that is yellow with the mountains on them.

Cape Canaveral IS one of the places that you can get free tickets to - I think they refer to it as the Space Station, but I am pretty sure it is at Cape Canaveral? I am not really sure.

They also give tickets to Aquatica water park, Gatorland and some other places, too. Lots more than a family could do unless they extend their trip.

Thanks everyone! I'll have to see if we can fit Cape Canaveral into our trip if we can get tickets!

I'm trying pics again!

Yeah!!!! It works!

And a few more...

These two were are a black tie Gala, for Starlight Foundation! They invited 4 families to this fancy, expensive dinner event! They raised $250,000!

And this is the cart she uses to pull her vent around... It's a little blurry since she was on the move, but I wanted to give people an idea on how she carries it!

Those are great pics! Thanks for sharing. Kira's silky hair reminds me of my Phoebe's. The ones in the sun look like the same auburn brown too. They are both very cute. Did they have fun at the black tie event or were they bored? I'd be worried if my family was invited. :lmao:

Thanks! They had a blast at the event! We met another family, with a 5 y.o., 12 y.o. and a 14 y.o. The 14 y.o. girl was the Starlight Child, she has a brain tumor, had undergone 52 surgeries, and they can't remove it cuz it will erase all her memory. But they were really nice. During the cocktail hour, one of the appetizers was little paper cone cups filled with french fries. And one of her favorite Child Life Specialists from our hospital we go to was there to give a speech, so we got to hang with her.

At dinner, we got to meet the guest of honor, Charles "Peanut" Tillman, he's a Chicago Bears player. He was super nice, sat and talked to Kira for about 20 minutes, just amazing!!

And then, for dinner, they did a perfect "kids" meal. Instead of trying to make an adult meal "kid-friendly," they gave them chicken fingers, french fries, and a fruit cup. It was perfect!

After dinner was dancing. Kira was thrilled cuz she wanted to dance with the 12 y.o. boy from the other family. She spent about 20-30 minutes on her speaking valve (off her vent) dancing with him! And Christian danced with the older sister!

And my son is a total charmer! He calls these his "hot, sexy, ladies!" LOL! :rotfl: There were a bunch of younger women who thought he was just adorable! Of course, a 6 y.o., in a tux, dancing away, who wouldn't think that was cute!

They had an awesome time! And Kira declared it the most romantic night ever! She talked about all these feelings she had, it was very cute. We were there from about 6:30 until almost 11:00! It was a fabulous time!!

Your kids are so cute! They're obviously very social. I love that they wanted to dance with the other kids. (You didn't have to coerce them for a photo-op) It sounds like the even was totally planned with kids in mind! That is awesome!

Thanks everyone for following and the support! I can't believe that we're only about 5 weeks away!!!   I'm so far behind it seems like!!

I did get some news that was surprisingly good, and another piece of news a little disappointing. The good news is that for the 2 nurses we have going with us, they will each get their OWN hotel room and rental car! That really gives them better usage of their free time. But the not-so-good news is that our night nurse, won't get any passes to the parks. She had wanted to go for some time when we're there. She's not going to need to sleep 14 hours when she's "off-duty," so she wanted to go places.

I did have a question, can we ship things to GKTW? I wanted to ship some of the basic supplies that we use, plus some non-perishable food that the kids like. I just didn't know if we can send it ahead of time.

Oh yeah, and we're getting some amazing treatment from the Disboutiquers!!! I can't believe all the awesome work and talent they have. I browsed some of their photos, did share some of my favorite things, and they're working on some wonderful surprises for us. I'm just overwhelmed by their generosity!

Thanks again!!
