Shaping up for 2.0

Life is about learning and experiencing new things.

And I learned a few things with last nights jog/run.

•Running in the evening is an extremely pleasant for clearing your head of the issues of the day.
•There are about 10,000 times more bugs at 8pm versus 5am.
•Check the map better before going out. Instead of taking the road I thought would exit 3/4 of the way up the hill in town, I ended up on the road that ended in the valley, 50 feet below Main Street.
•Going down hill is fun. Until the junk in your trunk makes you go faster than you anticipate and you look like a tumble monkey rolling on the road.
•Oatmeal is probably not a good choice for a pre-jog meal. Especially when it comes back up.

But I feel good!!!

2 weeks since anyone posted on here. You guys haven't given up have you? I've been doing tons of cardio to include speed interval runs, slow long distance runs and the elipticle trainer. Lifting lighter weights with much higher reps at greater speed. Shocking the system with new exercise is the key to not getting bored and not letting your body become accustomed to routine. Hope everyone is still putting forth the effort to shape up. :goodvibes

I'm still here! My routine has been up and down, working out when I can and running/biking. Busy time of year, but for the most part I'm at least in the gym for 4-5 times a week and doing cardio a minimum of 3. Vacation slowed me down, but 5 miles yesterday and 5 straight days of working out have gotten me back on track. I like the idea of some speed training, what sort of things are you doing? Farkleks or intervals? How long distance and time?

I need to do more cardio. I've been doing distance work. Not as fast as I'd like to be, but getting there.

Oh, I was hoping someone would just forget this thread....

Yeah, I am still working on it. Really!

I am back at it Coach, even joined the gym at the office so that I could go straight from my desk. 45 minutes the last 2 nights on the treadmill. Have a meeting with the wellness specialist tomorrow to get the strength schedule rocking.. Have to admit, it's only been 2 days but I think I prefer this timing better.

After a sultan's feast last night, I need to be sure to go at it with dedication and fervor the next few days. Planning on jogging over to mom's (about 4 miles up and down hills) mowing her lawn, and then jogging home tonight.

I am Still here at it. I have added Water Aerobics to the mix twice a week in addition to my walking and have started a food log.

I haven't been able to go to Water class this week due to Vacation Bible School at church every night. I will get back in that routine next week.

Nice Todd, is that 8 miles plus mowin? Impressive!

My best weight loss came lasst summer when wrote down everthing I ate. I need to start that again. So I said last month and the month before! I wrote it down in a notebook with a picture of the Disney cruise ship on the cover.

10 weeks of low carb eating down 15 pounds. Pretty happy, hasn't been too hard. Good luck to everyone!

I wore my GPS pedometer thing last night while I mowed Mom's lawn. This is what it thinks I did:

Bumping and sharing.

Last night I decided to go for a jog. Turned into a 13.2 mile jog. I wanted to know I could 'go the distance' next week for the Food and Wine Half Marathon. According to the experts and other folks, you only need to complete about 85% of the total distance in training, but I needed to know for myself.
Last night's route:

I also got and tried some new stuff. I bought some running socks and a running fanny pack. I also tried some new energy chews. As I was running in the dark, I didn't stop to look at it, but the first one I popped in wrapper and all. I thought it tasted horrid. By the time I was ready for another, I noticed there was a wrapper and felt like an idiot.
My pace was well within the requirement for Disney races, so I am pleased. I am taking today slowly and replenishing the nutrients and such that I used last night. I don't plan on doing any more long runs before the race, but do plan on getting out on Saturday since the weather will be gorgeous here.
My doctor was pleased with my weight and glucose levels at the last visit, so I am happy with that. I just looked at the photo pass pictures from my Labor Day trip and I'm not even totally unhappy with the ones from Blizzard Beach. Mind you, I will NOT be running shirtless next weekend, as I believe Frank is planning on, but I'm getting slimmer and less fluffy!

How are you with your goals? Have you hit a rough patch or plateau? Are you cruising along?
