Rebel Hangar Lounge Report (with reviews of 12 menu items, pics of all 12 centerpieces & CHEWIE!)

do they take the dining plan or is it cash/credit card only?

Our waitress explained that because RHL is a "Popup" or special dining event, they would not accept TiW. I am honestly not certain if this restriction includes other Disney dining plans.

Just as a reminder, there is no guarantee that there will be any character interaction. We were there Saturday night (8:05 reservation) and the only character that came by was a Jawa (oh, and a cute park guest in a slave girl Leia outfit). This didn't take away from our experience because we didn't expect it.

We went the first night, May 15th at around 5pm. It was great. We saw all of the Cantina band members, Guido and Sabine & Ezra (hope I got their names right)! The food was actually pretty good and the drinks were awesome. Definitely liked the "Swamp Juice" the best. My understanding is that the characters during the SWW are different than the other days of the week. Also, I had heard that service was pretty slow the later in the day you went. We had no service issues at all and great character interaction. Highly recommend this experience.

Great review. I am a little confused about where this restaurant is. It seems like I heard it was at Backlot Express, but does that mean they have closed Backlot Express to have this experience?

Jeez, I'm only a casual Star Wars fan, but this looks awesome! Thanks for the pics & review! :earsboy:

Backlot Express is open as usual for lunch. This takes the place of it during the evening.

Hardin, since we got there at 4pm half of the Backlot Express was still up and running for the guests that were finishing their meals.

The thing that will strike you is the sheer number of CMs standing around the entire lounge whose sole purpose is keeping the Rebel Hangar secure. Our waitress said countless people daily see the Star Wars characters in the Lounge and try to go through the back of Backlot to sneak in for an unauthorized meet & greet.

Not only that but a CM told us that the Rebel Hangar Lounge contains the only path of entrance or exit for wheelchair access to or from the Backlot Express. I suppose this would only be an issue during the transition from Backlot to Rebel Hangar experiences.

During our stay we witnessed many a park guest being escorted through or out of the Rebel Hangar Lounge. When I asked about this, a CM told us that they fully realize that WE are the ones who took the time to get an ADR, and so they want to make sure that our experience was the Star Wars experience we deserve.

I thought that was an especially cool thing for him to say.

Totally agree about the fries; to me best thing on the menu. We were there the 15th and only saw Cantina band members.

Thanks for this - looks like an awesome experience!

Quick question -- considering it was empty, what time was your reservation? Presuming it was a weekday too? We're going in one week and trying to decide if we go to RH on the weekend or on Thursday.

Thanks again

Thanks, Joecal! Our ADR was the first available, 4pm on Monday the 18th. Perhaps during the week is best as it may increase your chances of meeting more characters. They very well can't pass through the Rebel Hangar Lounge if they are out in the park meeting park guests, right? :D

Definitely looks like that'll be the way to go. Thanks again for posting and sharing - appreciate it

Love those fries! Just curious, what time were you there on the 15th? How many Cantina band members did you see? Were they carrying instruments as well?

I presume I know the answer to this, but is the Rebel Hanger allowing walk ups at all at the odd hours (opening or close to closing?) We decided to go to SWW late and so finding reservations for this has been all but impossible.
