Let's go to Disney!

Hey y'all. We are taking a short, 2 day trip to Disney at the end of July. We have never gone in the summer. I always said I would never visit WDW in the summer because of the heat and crowds. But we are going on a cruise that leaves/returns from Port Canaveral so how could we go home without visiting the mouse? 
Anyway, since I have never been in the summer, I was hoping someone could tell me what it's like.
How hot will it be?
How crowded? Will we even get to ride anything? In general, what should I expect? I'm really looking forward to it but I'm scared we won't get to do much because of the long lines. TIA!!!!
