I just made a copy of mine and put it it on the dashboard, then carried the original in the glovebox of the rental car incase there was a question. The permits are pretty much universally respected because no one yet has been able to argue that a person's disability disappears when they're on vacation, regardless of how far that might take them from home. I only displayed the copy because my car was once broken into and the placard stolen. Of course, you have to figure out a way to remember not to heave the permit behind when your vacation is over and you're packing to return home. I never thought that spending my precious vacation time standing in a permit line in Orlando was an appropriate vacation activity. :scared1::scared1:

If you have one issued from another us state you will be fine if it from another country you have to get a temporary US parking badge for international visitors. sorry for so much info and links i just want to make sure you get the right info so you don't get a 250 ticket have fun on your trip and hopes this helps.

Handicapped parking permits from one state in the United States are recognized as valid in every other state in the US (each state passed a law agreeing to honor the permits from other states).

Parking Permits from other countries are another thing entirely though.
If you have one issued from another us state you will be fine if it from another country you have to get a temporary US parking badge for international visitors. sorry for so much info and links i just want to make sure you get the right info so you don't get a 250 ticket have fun on your trip and hopes this helps.

The laws are not totally clear - the things cited already may be only for people visiting for longer periods. The law is not clear.
Shorter stays may depend on whether your country has an agreement with the US to honor each other's handicapped parking permits. This law has been interpreted both ways by people - that visitors with a permit issued by a foreign country can park with their permit or that they can park if their country also has agreed to recognize the parking permit issued by Florida as valid.
At very least, your parking permit must include the international symbol of disability ( a blue wheelchair symbol)

Here s the link for that law:
http://www.leg.state.fl.us/Statutes...g=&URL=0300-0399/0316/Sections/0316.1958.html

And the text from the link:
316.1958 Out-of-state vehicles bearing identification of issuance to persons who have disabilities.—Motor vehicles displaying a special license plate or parking permit issued to a person who has a disability by any other state or district subject to the laws of the United States or by a foreign country that issues disabled parking permits that display the international symbol of accessibility are recognized as displaying a valid license plate or permit, that allows such a vehicle special parking privileges under s. 316.1955, if the other state or district grants reciprocal recognition for residents of this state who have disabilities. However, when an individual is required by law to have a Florida driver’s license or a Florida vehicle registration, a special motor vehicle license plate or parking permit issued by another state, district, or country to persons who have disabilities is not valid and the individual whose vehicle displays such an invalid plate or permit is subject to the same penalty as an individual whose vehicle does not display a valid plate or permit. A law enforcement officer or parking enforcement specialist may not ticket a vehicle for a violation of s. 316.1955 without first determining whether the vehicle is transporting a resident of another state who is the owner of the out-of-state placard.
History.—s. 5, ch. 85-227; s. 26, ch. 90-330; s. 4, ch. 96-200; s. 2, ch. 98-202; s. 2, ch. 99-248.

The point about a person required to have a Florida Driver's License is someone who has resided in Florida for more than 30 days. So if you are just visiting from another state or country you can use your regular tag.

From Florida state DMV

RECIPROCITY: Section 316.1958, Florida Statutes, provides that motor vehicles displaying a license plate or parking permit issued to a disabled person by any other state or district subject to laws of the United States shall be recognized as a valid plate or permit, allowing such vehicle the special parking privileges in Florida, provided such other state or district grants reciprocal recognition for disabled residents of this state. All of the United States have agreed to reciprocate.
