Good luck to all the 10Kers in just a few hours!
I've got one more shift standing between me at the half. Eeek.

I was in corral A but lots of people were slowing down in the first mile and not moving over...had to do lots of weaving so it was frustrating and hence my time suffered.

5K was fun. Probably my favorite Disney 5K course so far - so much park time! Only 3 corrals for this one, which was surprising. Character turnout was okay (McQueen and Mater, Cowboy Chip & Dale, Pinnochio & Geopetto - the one we stopped for - and Snow White & Charming). Great race overall!
After the race I saw my first-ever bandits in the flesh - two of them together. Their bibs were 1. Exactly the same (same number, same name), 2. On the backs of their shirts, and 3. Had white edges and white paper where the safety pin holes should have been...the numbers looked a little fuzzy so they were clearly copied. Someone called them out on it and they got a deer-in-headlights look before shuffling as far away as they could.Ugh. People are jerks.

I can't believe I missed my 10k PR by 1 second...lol. Actually I was holding back a little to save myself for the half, but it was hilarious that I literrally missed it by 1 sec. Oh well...my excuse can also be that the start was kind of rough. I was in corral A but lots of people were slowing down in the first mile and not moving over...had to do lots of weaving so it was frustrating and hence my time suffered. I had negative splits for every mile which I am kind of proud of that. Now need to get ready for the half. Good luck everyone.
BTW, this is important. The cheering HELPS alot...it made me go faster every time someone cheered - I am not kidding. Thank you for cheering
I finished my first race ever this morning! And 10k is now the farthest I've ever run. Like @Z-Knight mentioned, I had to weave a lot more than expected and I came in 36 seconds after my goal time
But I had a blast and now am looking forward to cheering on the runners for the half tomorrow!
They were on Main Street on the right hand side, I think just past the Starbucks.Pinocchio and Geppeto were out? We must have run straight past them - where were they? They were the only ones I would have stopped for - I make a habit not to stop for any characters on a run when I could just meet them in the park lol! We had a great time regardless, were really happy with how we went, and I really liked that they had the Evil Queen on course too (even though I was kinda bummed that we couldn't have a photo with her). The 10k must have been so much fun!
I know it happens all the time, but I still can't really believe that people actually think they can (and do!) get away with running with a completely fake bib!
I'm sure there were. It probably happens every race, sadly.Don't get me wrong, I had a GREAT time. I was just surprised that so many people in corral A were slowing down so much and not moving over and we were still in the first mile. Lots of people had to jump on the sidewalk with one foot to get around them and that's never safe. After that mile it was smooth and fun...I could just settle into the run without having to think much. The only suprises were some of those mountains I had to cross - I guess most people would call them hills.
Btw, were there any fakes in this race? I hope not.

Seeing the bandits was very surprising...once they were pointed it to me it was obvious. I'm glad that they were called out but they still got away with it.

At least they can't really get away with t for Dumbo, since we had to get pictures with the bibs at the expo.
