Catching up:
Friday November 17 was Life Day -- a Star Wars holiday that dates from the Star Wars holiday special (which originally aired on November 17, 1978). Fans gathered at Disneyland to celebrate. Disney has hopped on board, providing special food options and merchandise.
Earlier in the week we had the opportunity to take the Walt Disney Studios tour in Burbank. This is the studio that Snow White built, as Walt and Roy took the profits from SW, bought 51 acres of land, and built a studio purposefully designed for animation.
Pluto’s Corner
Walt had two offices, a formal office and a working office. Neither is what you may have seen when he filmed TV appearances—that was actually a set in the studio!
Here’s his secretary’s desk, with his last calendar on it. She would write out his appointments. This page, from October 1966, lists Follow Me, Boys! (Which is one of my favorites!)
Walt’s working office had a photo of Disneyland on one wall with notes about future plans. (He also had a picture of Ed Wynn as inspiration because they noticed everything with him in it was a hit. )
+30 minutes of walking. I managed to convince Jacob to walk with me for a little bit, even though I think he was embarrassed to be walking in place in front of his parents. Lol.
