I must be crazy! - An October-November 2016 Solo PTR - Update 10/9 2 Weeks to Go - That's a Wrap

Hmm.. I have no rich relatives and I don't enter the lottery so I guess I'm just going to have to find a husband....

Pick one that's at least 90 years old.

I would be the worst super hero ever - my name would probably be some like The Procrastinator and I'd be really awesome and not doing anything!

Nope. No can do. That position is already filled.
By me.

I put the pro in procrastinator.

Segways are interesting but I'm not a helmet wearing kind of gal so I think I'll skip them :goodvibes

No one messes with the do.
Check.

Enjoying watching your trip plans come together. It's a little like deja vue in that we're doing so many similar things-- I'm just there a few weeks earlier (not traveling solo per se but attending most of the dining/special tours on my own). Will be fun to compare notes on things like Dining with Imagineer, Dining with Animal Specialist, GF Tea, MNSSHP, and Keys to Kingdom tour plus a few other duplicate restaurants.

How old did you say your dad was again?

Maybe I could be your super villain nemesis? And we both procrastinate so much that the earth gets destroyed...

Not so much the do - it's more the look of it

First of all - :welcome: Karilynn!

Would love to compare notes when we both get back - can't believe someone else is doing so many of the slightly different Disney things I'll be doing (and not too far apart!)

How old did you say your dad was again?

85... but...
1. He's too healthy.
2. Not rich enough. You want more of a Bill Gates type of cash flow available to you.

Maybe I could be your super villain nemesis? And we both procrastinate so much that the earth gets destroyed...

Sounds great! Let's get on that... umm... maybe tomorrow.

Not so much the do - it's more the look of it

Ah. Yeah, no one looks good in those things.

ell this time your pixie dust and good wishes must have paid off as I got Dining with an Imagineer!!!

YAY! Congratulations! I know that was one that you really really wanted!

This is my current ADR list, which I am sure will change over the next 6 months but it’s a good start.

Dang. That's pretty intense.

In other trip news (but non-Disney related) I booked my hotels for the San Francisco and Los Angeles part of my trip.
They both look lovely!

YAY! Congratulations! I know that was one that you really really wanted!

Thanks! And now that I've tried so hard to get it, it will probably end up being disappointing! But it's at the HBD so the food should be good at least ;)

Dang. That's pretty intense.

It looks worse than it is I swear! There's a lot of duplicates that I will cancel once park hours are a bit firmer and when I know if I can meet you at MNSSHP on the 23rd or not!

They both look lovely!

I hope so - they cost a small fortune considering how low the Australian dollar is

22 Weeks to Go

I ordered some magic band skins a few weeks ago and they arrived during the ADR period so I haven’t had a chance to show you guys them yet.

I also recently replaced my fitness tracker (a jawbone up) with a new Fitbit Flex which I am loving – so I also bought a whole bunch of matching Fitbit Flex bands so I could be coordinated!

Without further adieu here we go…

First up is the pairing for Hollywood Studios – inspired by my favourite ride in the park Star Tours. I’ve got a Yoda skin and a galaxy fitbit band which I think go well together.

Star Wars.JPG

Next we have the Animal Kingdom combo which is leopard print all round.

Animal Kingdom.JPG

Then we’ve got the basic Magic Kingdom combo of a Princess themed skin and matching pink.

Magic Kingdom.JPG

The last park based set is Epcot. Here I’ve got a world showcase inspired skin and a future world inspired band (I think the texture on this one is very Spaceship Earth).

EPCOT.JPG

I also have combos for each of the parties. One is the Halloween combo for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party with a jack-o’-lantern skin and skull band.

Halloween.JPG

And for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party I’ve got a glow in the dark Christmas skin and matching white band.

Christmas.JPG

And I've got a combo for when I've got a DisMeet planned :cutie:

Dis.JPG

That just leaves one combo which I’m not sure yet where I will where it but it’s my nod to the homeland with an Australian flag skin and band.

Lastly I want your guys opinion on costumes for MNSSHP. I’ve started thinking as I want to order it in advance to make sure it gets here in time.

With the new rules adults can’t wear anything that touches the ground (it specifically says no floor length Princess dresses) so my old Snow White costume is out :(.

I was thinking of going as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz but it’s really not Disney other than appearing in the Great Movie Ride.

My next thought is to go as Belle from Beauty and the Beast in the pre-Beast meeting outfit (the white shirt and blue pinafore). This would be relatively easy and I think could be common so I’m not sure.

Another option is to go more modern and try something out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe such as the Black Widow but it would only be the outfit as you aren’t allowed any faux weapons with that costume.

Or I could go really basic and go as a pirate from the Caribbean.

Any thoughts on good costumes that meet the following Disney criteria:

Costume Rules.jpg

Costume Rules 2.jpg

I’d love some ideas seeing as it will only be my third Halloween ever.

Yay! I did MB skins on my last trip, and it was a lot of fun! I think I'm just gonna stick to plain old boring solids this year, though!

I also recently replaced my fitness tracker (a jawbone up) with a new Fitbit Flex which I am loving
I'm glad to hear this! I keep on waffling over whether I want to invest in a FitBit or not.

so I also bought a whole bunch of matching Fitbit Flex bands so I could be coordinated!

I love ALL the combos! Very well-planned!

My next thought is to go as Belle from Beauty and the Beast in the pre-Beast meeting outfit (the white shirt and blue pinafore). This would be relatively easy and I think could be common so I’m not sure.
This one has my vote!

One of the best ways to enjoy life to the fullest is travel alone. Yeah, I super agree to travel alone so you will be more independent and meet new people you never met before. I assume most people here love to go around Asia. I've been to Hongkong, Singapore, Philippines, Japan and recently Bangkok Thailand. I love all of them but my favorite as of the moment is Bangkok and for some reason I so love their food. I've tried some of the best restaurants there and if you want some suggestion you can visit this one http://bangkok.klapsons.com/the-18-best-restaurants-near-the-chao-phraya-river-in-bangkok/ (Ow by the way, if link is not permitted please delete it)

I ordered some magic band skins a few weeks ago

I didn't know magic bands shed their skins.
Or that you could order them! Why? Gross!!

I also recently replaced my fitness tracker (a jawbone up) with a new Fitbit Flex which I am loving

How does that work?
Never had one, but keep hearing about it.
Heart rate? Pedometer? Both? Neither?

so I also bought a whole bunch of matching Fitbit Flex bands so I could be coordinated!

Wow! Now that's organized!
And FWIW, I really (really!) like your pairings.
I take it the MB skins are easy to apply and remove then?

Without further adieu here we go…

Bye!

Lastly I want your guys opinion on costumes for MNSSHP.

Are you sure? You really want my opinion?

Oh, wait.... I scrolled down to the rules. "Must be family friendly".... never mind.

With the new rules adults can’t wear anything that touches the ground

That one surprised me. But I presume it's for tripping hazards.

so my old Snow White costume is out :(.

Can you modify the length? Make it... I dunno, mid-calf perhaps?

I was thinking of going as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz but it’s really not Disney other than appearing in the Great Movie Ride.

But would still work. DD has a Dorothy costume. She also got a little basket and put a stuffed animal dog in it.

My next thought is to go as Belle from Beauty and the Beast in the pre-Beast meeting outfit (the white shirt and blue pinafore).

That would be cute too.

This would be relatively easy and I think could be common so I’m not sure.

If common is a detraction, then... skip down a bit...

Another option is to go more modern and try something out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe such as the Black Widow but it would only be the outfit as you aren’t allowed any faux weapons with that costume.

While I'd love to see you in a skin tight leather outfit.... ahem....
Wouldn't that be hot? I mean of course it would, you'd be very hot, I'm sure.
But I mean temperature wise it might be uncomfortable.
I wore a suit (was a grave digger or ghost from HM) and it was pretty toasty.

Or I could go really basic and go as a pirate from the Caribbean.

... if common is a detraction, I saw tons of Pirates when I was there.

Doesn't mean you can't do that anyway.

I’d love some ideas seeing as it will only be my third Halloween ever.

Well, I think I gave you some... well, I didn't specifically say it, but a ghost from HM is always going to be my first choice.\
It is now, anyway... (stupid "family friendly" rule!)

Oh! Almost forgot. Oldest DD dressed up as Scarlett O'Hara and while not strictly Disney... got tons of comments and compliments.

As for costumes, I have nothing but boring suggestions, because I am not that creative. However, you could go with something that incorporates one of your dresses, a sash that says Miss Australia, and a tiara - you'd be a hit with me!

I like your thinking because usually I am all about putting the least effort in possible! But I think because I'll be in Disney I'm willing to go all out on a costume this time :cutie:

Yay! I did MB skins on my last trip, and it was a lot of fun! I think I'm just gonna stick to plain old boring solids this year, though!

Fair enough. I didn't really think it through too much because I wont get my purple band until the last day of my trip which means the Dis band is useless!

I'm glad to hear this! I keep on waffling over whether I want to invest in a FitBit or not.

I loved my Jawbone before but the Fitbit is so much better! I got one of the older models as well so it only cost me $66 AUD ($48USD)!

I love ALL the combos! Very well-planned!

Thanks!

This one has my vote!

I'll keep it in the running then!

I didn't know magic bands shed their skins.

How does that work?
Never had one, but keep hearing about it.
Heart rate? Pedometer? Both? Neither?

Mainly pedometer and sleep tracker. You can get fancier versions with heart monitors but I kind of already have an expensive version of that I never use so I went for the base model here.

Wow! Now that's organized!
And FWIW, I really (really!) like your pairings.
I take it the MB skins are easy to apply and remove then?

They're basically vinyl decals so all you do is peel and stick. And then peel off once you're done with it.

You're clever than you look @pkondz. I thought after you picked up on my accidental typo last week I'd test you with a purposeful error to see if you picked it up!

Are you sure? You really want my opinion?

Oh, wait.... I scrolled down to the rules. "Must be family friendly".... never mind.

I was going to suggest your favourite princess but I'm pretty sure her outfit isn't family friendly. But if she's allowed in the park like that maybe others can too....

That one surprised me. But I presume it's for tripping hazards.

You may be right.

Can you modify the length? Make it... I dunno, mid-calf perhaps?

Possibly but then I'll effectively have ruined it for ever wearing it as the full outfit again.

But would still work. DD has a Dorothy costume. She also got a little basket and put a stuffed animal dog in it.

I think I was 13 years old last time I dressed as Dorothy - not sure if it is still a good look as an almost 30 year old

That would be cute too.

The only thing I'm worried about with this one is how much room it would take in a suitcase - I believe it involves a fair bit of material...

Honestly I'm not sure it could be any hotter than a princess dress with a full skirt - those things keep you pretty warm too!

... if common is a detraction, I saw tons of Pirates when I was there.

Doesn't mean you can't do that anyway.

The main reason I thought of this one is that I believe there is a pirate night on the Disney cruise so I could use it twice (I'm thrifty like that)

Well, I think I gave you some... well, I didn't specifically say it, but a ghost from HM is always going to be my first choice.\
It is now, anyway... (stupid "family friendly" rule!)

I could go as the bride ghost from HM I suppose :scratchin

Oh! Almost forgot. Oldest DD dressed up as Scarlett O'Hara and while not strictly Disney... got tons of comments and compliments.

Naww adorable :goodvibes

They're basically vinyl decals so all you do is peel and stick. And then peel off once you're done with it.

Ah. Gotcha.

You're clever than you look @pkondz. I thought after you picked up on my accidental typo last week I'd test you with a purposeful error to see if you picked it up!

I speak French so it stuck out.
But... I almost didn't say anything, not wanting to be rude and all.
But I figured if I just wrote "Bye" you'd either get it, or not.

I was going to suggest your favourite princess but I'm pretty sure her outfit isn't family friendly. But if she's allowed in the park like that maybe others can too....

Yes! Dress like that!!! Perfect!!!! Yes! Yes! Yes!

Too much?

Possibly but then I'll effectively have ruined it for ever wearing it as the full outfit again.

I thought of that. I wondered if you could pin it? I don't sew so I don't know if it's a no no.

I think I was 13 years old last time I dressed as Dorothy - not sure if it is still a good look as an almost 30 year old

Hmmm... I honestly don't know.
Even Judy Garland was made to look younger (made her wear a corset) and she was 16.

The only thing I'm worried about with this one is how much room it would take in a suitcase - I believe it involves a fair bit of material...

Take two suitcases. Pay the $25 or whatever. Then you can fill it with useless jun... uh... souvenirs.

Honestly I'm not sure it could be any hotter than a princess dress with a full skirt - those things keep you pretty warm too!

I wouldn't know. Guess I'll have to try it some day?

The main reason I thought of this one is that I believe there is a pirate night on the Disney cruise so I could use it twice (I'm thrifty like that)

But don't you want something unique for MNSSHP?

I could go as the bride ghost from HM I suppose :scratchin

Ooooohhhhh... if you could pull that off, that would be my pick.
(Even more than Ariel... well... maybe not.)

Je parle un petit peu le francais. Enough to get by (or to order in a restaurant - you know, the important things)

By the way, did I tell you I'm a sucker for a guy who speaks a language other than English?

Yes! Dress like that!!! Perfect!!!! Yes! Yes! Yes!

Too much?

I think you're going to be disappointed with what the adult costumes look like...

Hmmm... I honestly don't know.
Even Judy Garland was made to look younger (made her wear a corset) and she was 16.

I doubt I could pass for a school girl - even one with a tough upbringing on a Kansas farm.

Take two suitcases. Pay the $25 or whatever. Then you can fill it with useless jun... uh... souvenirs.

I am allowed three suitcases with my flight home.....:scratchin

But don't you want something unique for MNSSHP?

Don't throw my own logic back in my face!

Ooooohhhhh... if you could pull that off, that would be my pick.
(Even more than Ariel... well... maybe not.)

I so had to stop myself from typing something completely inappropriate then!

And I may just have to scour the second hand stores this weekend to see if there are any appropriate wedding dresses :cutie:

You got yourself some real nice ADRs. Congrats on getting both Dine with an Animal Specialist and an Imagineer, that's pretty awesome.
I love dressing up and enjoy coming up with my own costume ideas, but I've never done Disney, so no suggestions on that front. Although if I ever did dress up Disney and I could actually pull it off, I'd love to dress up as Ursula.
You're very creative so I'm sure by then you'll have come up with something.
