Hello All,
I just wanted to share a story with all of you and maybe I can get some ideas from all you Disneyfans :)
I am getting married next July 17th and it has always been my dream to get married in my church. Well, I am going to WDW for the first week of my honeymoon and I had a great idea to take my wedding dress down there and Scott's tux so we can make a day of going to the spa getting all done up and taking pictures on the WDW property. WELL, much to my diappointment when i tried to amke the arragements with the photographer...she explained to me that you absolutely cannot be on Disney property with your wedding attire on unless you have been married on property and have an escort with you! I couldn't believe it? She gave me the excuse that kids would think you are Cinderella and Prince Charming and it could be confusing for them. Also al of the pictures that are taken when you get married down there and copywrited to Disney! I got off the phone and wanted to cry...of course Scott really didn't mind b/c he wasn't looking foward to wearing a tux in the Florida humidity.

I just wanted to share this with all of you b/c I knew you would appreciate it and empathize me.
Does anyone have any ideas? I wantd to have a Disney themed wedding but not too overboard...any suggestions would be greatly appreaciated!
Thanks to you all :)
I love these boards...I refer everyone I know who has a question about Disney to these boards...not even Disney's site, he he he
Have a Disney Day :) :)

First of all, I would like to congratulate you on the upcoming wedding. Also, I can definitely feel your pain and anger when you heard that you are not allowed to wear your wedding attire on the Disney property. In fact, I did have heard of that policy before and can understand the logic behind that from the business side. Nevertheless, have you contact the Disney Photography department to see what it can do for you on your honeymoon? I have seen people taking their honeymoon pictures in the park, but not in their wedding attire. Nevertheless, some of them would wear the Mickey-Minnie wedding hats and they look absolutley adorable. Also, these pictures will be taken prior to the park opening so you can get a clear background.

Regarding the wedding, I did have a Disney-themed wedding back in my hometown--Vancouver, B.C. Canada. It was quite a hard work for me to put everything together since there is no Disney products in Canda due to copy right. But I believe it would be much easier for you in US. These were what I had for my wedding:
- Mickey & Minnie wedding invitation
- matching bubble labels and address labels for invitation (found on eBay)
- Mickey & Minnie wedding cake topper
- each table was named after the famous Disney couple, like Snow White & Prince Charming, Mickey & Minnie
- songs from Disney Instrumental Impression CD were played in the background
- wedding flavor was chocolate hearts put in a Cinderella glass slipper (made in plastic)

Though I didn't get married in Disney, I had a great fun. But I do plan to renew our vow on our 10th anniversary in WDW :p

Hope it helps.

Good Morning JeanK74,
First, thank you very much for replying...I appreciate your advise. I was told by the Disney photography studio that they do honeymoon pictures, but I am not shy...I will ask someone to take our pictures all of the time. I have tons of pictures of us during our last trip in 2000. And people usually don't mind doing it.
I didn't realize though, that you take the pictures b-4 the park is open...that's really cool. TO get one picture of the castle without someone else in it would be unbelievable.
I cannot wait to go there for my honeymoon....there's so many romantic spots. We're only going to be there 6 full days, it's never enough...the second week of our honeymoon we're goin to Aruba!
Anyway, thanks again and have a Disney Day!

P.S. Does th4 74 in your name stand for your birth year? If so, I was born in 74 too!

jocelynm,

You are very welcomed! I can understand the feeling and anxiety you currently have since I was in your situation last year. Regarding the honeymoon pictures taken by the Disney Photography, you can email them to get some samples of the pictures. I did receive some from them last year and those were very cute pictures. But I deleted those pictures from my computer when I upgraded my computer earlier.

Believe me, no matter what you do, you and your new husband will have a great time at WDW. We did not do the photo shoot in the park due to budget, but we did ask people to take pictures for us and those turned out great, too. Just make sure you get those wedding ear hats when you get to the park. Those will make you feel special, guarenteed!

Also, you were right about my birth-year. :D

We were just married at Disney - and as you've already heard, they have a strict no wedding attire in the parks rule (even for Disney brides!) However, Disney photographic services does offer a package that allows you to get photos done in the park of your choice BEFORE the parks open (at like 6am). They only do one photo session a day per park, so if you want a certain date I'd contact them as soon as possible (they will pencil you in without a deposit, so if you change your mind it's o.k.) The cost for magic kingdom photos was somewhere around $750 and Epcot and MGM were less, somewhere around $500. They also do honeymoon photos for around $400 (I don't have the prices in front of me) and the honeymoon pics are done during park hours in the morning. We looked into the magic kingdom photo shoot, and some of the pics we saw online were beautiful, but decided it was too much money, but if you really have your heart set on it, this is the only way to get those shots in your wedding dress. Disney cosmetology can also be scheduled to come to your room and do hair and make-up (we used them for our wedding and they were wonderful.) Hope this helps.
