BIEGARTEN LUNCH PART 2

Then it was time to check out the Dessert Section. For those who prefer cheese for their dessert, they had you covered here with this Cheese Assortment and accompaniments...

There was also fresh fruit, including these watermelon slices that looked good...

But of course, I went for the sweet stuff. ;) Like this Blueberry Crumble Cake...

Chocolate Cream Roulades...

Bavarian Cheesecake...

Apple Strudel with Vanilla Sauce...

Chocolate Chip Cookies...

Black Forest Cake...

And Red Berry Compote...

I'm a bit ashamed to say that I tried most of the these, as you can see...

My favorites were the chocolate chip cookie and chocolate cream roulade, but the best of the best was the Bavarian cheesecake. Holy cow this was good!!! :thumbsup2

So overall I thought this lunch was great and fairly priced (by Disney standards) at $29.99 (less my 20% Tables in Wonderland discount). I will definitely return to the Biergarten Restaurant, perhaps not on my next trip but I definitely won't be waiting another 15 years. ;)

Next up: Dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse

Love the Biergarten review - and glad to see the lunch price is relatively reasonable. We did lunch here a few years ago with my husband's family and all really enjoyed it! I want some pretzel rolls now :P

I ate at biergarten last year. I enjoyed the atmosphere but found the food just ok. I think that was because I'm a bit more picky. I did like that baked mac and cheese though. I also don't remember them having pretzel rolls I would've gotten those for sure.

All caught up, really informative report, I really enjoy the Boardwalk area places you have been reviewing because we will be staying at BWV in October. My DD and I ate at the Biergarten a few years back and I remember the Bavarian cheese cake yummy!

I'm so on the fence about Biergarten for our next trip. I have to say your pictures make it look a lot more appetizing than most do!

The last time we ate at the Biergarten we shared a table with a couple from Austria who were there for three weeks and a couple from the town next to ours. It was fun to talk to the Austrians. But the food was just okay for us.

I like the entertainment. :)

Nice review. The Biergarten is another place that I kind of forget about when making my ADRs. It's been probably 10 years since I've been there.

I am so glad to hear you enjoyed Biergarten! I am mainly of German heritage and while I haven't had all of those dishes growing up, we've had some. My fiance has been requesting to try Biergarten for a while now. I am not a big buffet person aside from breakfast, and we usually aren't on the dining plan so I hesitate to pay OOP when I know I may not eat a lot. We are trying Deluxe dining next month (short trip, so we figured we'd give it a shot) and Biergarten lunch is on our list. I see a plateful of Bavarian cheesecake and pretzel bread in my future. ;)

My mouth is watering at the pic of the tomato salad...that was my favorite thing on my last trip there, last month. That and the leek soup and berry compote! I could go for all three right now!

While not a "hidden gem" by any means, I don't think it gets the props it should! We really enjoyed our meal there. The cold salads and homemade pickles are awesome, lots to choose from, good beer and fun themeing/entertainment. Love Biergarten!

I love Biergarten! My husband is German so on our first trip together it was a must-do.

That would be great! Since I hope to be there again this year, I might have the privilege of meeting you in person, Kari! :goodvibes
Funny I bought tickets earlier this week! Not sure if we can actually make it down this week, but better to be safe than sorry right ; ) Fingers crossed we can get the stars to align for at least a weekend trip.

Looks like Trattoria wasnt a great last meal for your hubby, but at least their breakfast was better than dinner. The pizza does sound awful good though.

Biergarten has never appealed to me that much as I'm not a huge german food fan, but your meal looks great. Especially all those desserts. I'm sure my daughter would love the show so we'll have to try it sometime.

Biergarten is one of our favorites for both lunch and dinner. The variety is incredible and the value for the money especially for lunch is good for Disney prices.

Biergarten is up next on my report! But your pictures are so much better!!! LOL :D
I feel like you had a much bigger selection than we did, but maybe it just seems that way because of the buffet pictures... :-)

We loved Biergarten! We thought the food was great and my kids loved the entertainment. We have all agreed thwt we have to go back on our next trip (A was particularly fond of the sausage and vanilla sauce, though thankfully mot togethe4).

Great review of the Biergarten! It is usually one of DH's initial requests but then something else comes up and it doesn't make the cut. I am hoping we will actually get there in October!

Your Biergarten review looks great. We loved that a couple trips ago but then my boys insisted they didn't want to go there last trip :confused3 Maybe next time...

So glad you reviewed the Biergarten! We haven't eaten there in several years, & I really want to go back next trip. My husband keeps saying it's more fun with a bigger group, and it's only been just the two of us for the last several trips, so I've not booked it, but for this upcoming trip I did! I just haven't told him yet, lol! ;)

I agree, I too would love a pretzel roll now! :thumbsup2

Oh, that's a shame that you missed out on the pretzel rolls. :worried:

I actually almost passed on the cheesecake as it looked rather ordinary compared to some of the other prettier desserts. I'm so glad that I tried it though, as it ended up being one of my favorites. :thumbsup2

I've never been a big fan of German food, but I was pleasantly surprised by several of the options at the Biergarten.

Oh, that would have been fun, dining with Austrians! :thumbsup2 What did they think of the food there?

Nice review. The Biergarten is another place that I kind of forget about when making my ADRs. It's been probably 10 years since I've been there.

It was the same for me. I always end up returning to my favorites at Epcot, so never thought about the Biergarten. But this trip I made an effort to try some new (to me) restaurants or revisit some that I hadn't been to for many years. For the most part (including Biergarten), I'm glad that I did. :thumbsup2

Darn, I didn't try any of those. I want to go back now!

Oh, I didn't see the homemade pickles. Darn! :worried:

I love Biergarten! My husband is German so on our first trip together it was a must-do.

What does your husband think about the food there? Is it pretty authentic for German food? What are your favorites?

Funny I bought tickets earlier this week! Not sure if we can actually make it down this week, but better to be safe than sorry right ; ) Fingers crossed we can get the stars to align for at least a weekend trip.

That would be awesome! :yay:

Another Biergarten fan! Go Biergarten!! :cheer2:

I feel like you had a much bigger selection than we did, but maybe it just seems that way because of the buffet pictures... :-)

I think I took photos at the buffet three different times while I was there (as I was seated close by and could see when it wasn't busy) and it seemed like I found a few different things out each time that I hadn't noticed before. So it may be that the selection varies all the time. :confused3

October seems like the perfect time to go to the Biergarten! :thumbsup2

Your Biergarten review looks great. We loved that a couple trips ago but then my boys insisted they didn't want to go there last trip :confused3 Maybe next time...

I totally understand! For more than a dozen years our dining choices were pretty much dictated by our three kids. It's pretty fun now to get to make all the decisions. ;)

I agree that it would be fun with a group, but it wasn't bad...even when dining solo. My tablemates were pleasant, plus the food and entertainment kept me pretty occupied. :thumbsup2

On Sunday evening, Nov. 1, I was to have dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse with Niki Andiokno and her DH but something came up and they had to cancel. I almost cancelled our ADR since I'd already had steak a few times on this trip but then I looked at the YSH online menu and spotted an appetizer that I was very interested in having so I kept my 7:25 p.m. ADR for dinner at the Yacht Club's signature restaurant...

Though my ADR was for a party of 4 (when I made it I was hoping to get my DH to stay a little longer), I had no problem with changing to a party of 1 when I checked in at the YSH desk that evening. I did though have to wait a bit to be seated, which I did in the area next to the room with the hanging meat... ;)

Once seated I was soon greeted by my server and his assistant (who I believe was in training), and they made sure I was very well taken care of throughout my meal. Here is the menu I was presented...

I first ordered an ice tea, as I love that at YSH they serve it with a small pitcher of simple syrup (which allows for the option of making your own sweet tea)...

This is the best! :thumbsup2 And my servers made sure to keep my glass full of tea and the pitcher refilled with syrup. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Next came the bread basket, which contains another much-loved YSH item...

The Yachtman onion rolls are delicious...whether you add butter, roasted garlic, or eat them plain!! :thumbsup2

I then followed my original plan and ordered this appetizer...

French Onion Soup with Sourdough Croutons, Gruyere Cheese and Rich Onion Broth

One of my favorite French Onion soups is the one served at Shula's Steak House (located next door at the WDW Dolphin). It has a delicious beef broth, not chicken like at Chefs de France or vegetable like at Be our Guest. Though those two versions are both fine, I prefer the rich, beefy flavor of Shula's FO soup. Therefore I was excited to see that Yachtsman Steakhouse had added French Onion soup to their menu. Unfortunately though I was very disappointed with this. The predominant flavor of the broth was tomato. I would guess that they add either tomato juice or tomato paste to their broth and I didn't like it all. Not only did it not come close to the french onion soup at its rival steak restaurant, but it wasn't even as good as Chefs de France or Be our Guest. :sad2:

So the appetizer was a fail for me, but what about my entree??? :scratchin

6-oz. Black Angus Filet Mignon served with Mashed Potatoes and Cabernet Wine Sauce

Like at Monsieur Paul and The Wave, I ordered my steak cooked medium. It was again a little more rare than I prefer, but not as rare as The Wave filet so I didn't send it back to the grill. Actually at this point I began to think that I was ordering wrong, which will influence my steak order at a dinner later in my trip. ;) But even though the steak was just a little less than perfectly cooked (for my taste), it was still very good. Plus there is one other thing that I always enjoy about this entree, the mashed potatoes.

Way too full for dessert, so full in fact that I even forgot to ask to see a dessert menu so I could take a photo. :sad2: Along with my check, my server brought me a to-go cup full of ice tea. This was the one and only time that I recall being offered a drink refill to-go at a WDW restaurant. This gesture along with the friendly, yet professional and very attentive service which was provided by my team of servers, is why Yachtsman Steakhouse gets the award for BEST SERVICE on this trip. :worship:

So despite a misstep with the French onion soup, the great service made this meal quite enjoyable. Great service always makes good food taste even better and bad food a little more tolerable. :thumbsup2

Next up: Dinner at Beaches & Cream
