Thanks, loving the tips.Indeed we do. If you are trying to kit up the most countries on one go Take the Morocco boat and work your way towards mexico. YOu only miss France, England and Canada this way. And really France is right there by the boat dock for Morocco so you could even hit that up as well if you don't mind a small bit of backtracking.
Oh my, hope moving is going well though. Not this time for me! We are still dealing with the logistics from moving (we are getting the old house cleared out) and won't be done dealing with that until end of February. By then our trip will be right around the corner. I completely missed our double digit dance and almost missed FP day!![]()
Thanks for your insight about the tour, I remember that TR when you did it. I am so excited to not have to be mom for a week, heck we could be staying at the Super 8 down he road and I would be happy if it meant I only had to take care of myselfJust got all caught up on your plans. I am so happy that you and Joe get an adults-only trip. Disney will seem totally different without having to attend to the needs of 3 little boys at all times. And I'm glad that you're planning to try new things that are better suited to couples. We love dinner at California Grill - ask for a window seat to see the fireworks, we've had to wait, but gotten one each time. The steak is very good! We did the Keys to the Kingdom tour a few years back and really enjoyed it. And I'm certain you will learn/notice new things. The guides are VERY knowledgable and excited to share all sorts of little tidbits (we had Rae as our guide and she was phenomenal, but I hear many of them are). I can't believe your trip is only double digits away! How exciting! I look forward to hearing all about it.
Joining the party late but I've enjoyed reading through your PTR so far and can't wait to read more!! You've given me some excellent ideas to add to our next trip in May 2017!![]()
Yeah that's exactly the problem, now I am rearranging things and I am not sure that's always betterAnd I feel you - I want to plan SOMETHING! I end up playing around with our plans and change or add ADRs. We're getting close!
I know so excitingYay for double digits. We are there too!
New to the party but I am enjoying what I have read so far. Can't wait to read more.
Yeah but you were just thereDouble digits! I wish I was going back to WDW in less than 100 days.
I am with you there I wish ADRs were made at like 60 days and FPs at 30. I always end up changing my mind between 180 and the trip and then its too hard to switch things up because everything good is goneCongrats on the double digit mark! It really is kind of a weird stage in the planning process. Stuck between ADRs and FP+. I just really wish that we didn't have to do ADRs so far out.
Glad to be helpful! Thanks, loving the tips.
For the most part it is. Just tedious at this point. We're in the cleaning up phase. Its amazing how quick junk piles up on you.Oh my, hope moving is going well though.
That's what I was going to suggest - why not do both?I am also secretly hoping to get an earlier time so I don't have to choose, we'll see.
This sounds wonderful! In the afternoon we will hit up WS and the American Adventure to Canada pavilions. We will be going to Epcot three times and I like splitting the WS up to make sure we had time to see everything we wanted without feeling rushed. The announcement about Flower and Gardencame yesterday and they are adding two new outdoor kitchens which I am super excited about. We plan to snack at the booths and have some other treats around the world for our lunch.
I know most people don't go to the parks arrival day, but we always have. I am always just to excited and want to get there right away.
Plus to add that extra day its only $10 which is practically free. #DisneyMath
But, do I want to give up Cali Grill? I mentioned to Joe about the extended hours and he seemed disappointed we weren't going, but he didn't say anything
. Well the other night I flat out asked him nice dinner at CG or MK until midnight. His decision....MK
Nope... not at all. That's exactly what I'd have done given the same situation! Why not go? You're going to be right there, so close. And how many often do you get to spend an evening in MK???I know some of you probably think its crazy, but in the end we are just not fancy dinner kind of people unless its for a special occasion.
Looks like a good plan. You shouldn't have too much trouble getting through all of that in a morning if you're using FP+ there.Attraction priorities include; Mission Space (new to us), Test Track, Sum of All Thrills (new to us), Spaceship Earth, & the new Pixar/Disney shorts in 3D. Soarin is closed and as much as I enjoy the land, I don't see the point in making the trek there when we only have two hours this morning. I am also skipping the Seas because I don't think this is a must do every trip and I have done it the last two trips for the boys.
I'm glad that he can make it all work, but it kind of stinks that he'll still have work to do on the trip even though he's doing most of it before hand.Joe decided to go back to school to get his degree and he will be right in the middle of a term when we are gone. He is planning to do his assignments early, but he has has to post responses to Blackboard 5 out of 7 days of the week. This means he will have to have time every day besides two in which to post so we need to have breaks everyday just for that.
I hate all the plans in limbo. Rivers of Light? Frozen? What's closed and what's going to be open? What bands at F&G? It's so hard to be an over planner when you don't know what's going on.
ThanksThat's what I was going to suggest - why not do both?
This sounds wonderful!![]()
Thanks, I was thinking we're adult maybe we should do the "adult" thing and have a nice romantic dinner, but we really just want to be kids and go to MKNope... not at all. That's exactly what I'd have done given the same situation! Why not go? You're going to be right there, so close. And how many often do you get to spend an evening in MK???
Yeah, his school gives him like four weeks off and that in the middle of summer, so we just have to deal with it.I'm glad that he can make it all work, but it kind of stinks that he'll still have work to do on the trip even though he's doing most of it before hand.
I know, hopefully that will open in April and I'll have a heads up.Plans look good so far. Hopefully they'll figure it all out and get a schedule that will help you finish planning things. We all know how they like to spring some things on us at the last minute though. Hopefully they don't do that to you with a soft opening of Rivers of Light or something like that.
Me too, Tomorrowland is the best at nightLove all your plans! I think MK on your first night is a great idea. An early ADR at Cali Grill would be nice too! We have only been to Peco's Bills when they had the old menu so I haven't tried the new Mexican stuff but it does sound good! And Tomorrowland is my favorite land at night - love all of the lights!
Yeah, me too and I think we have a good shot. I am worried about Frozen though and what that will do to things if its open on May 1st like its predicted toI agree with splitting up WS. We're doing that in May too with our two Epcot days. It's just too much to see all in one day. And I feel you on things being up in the air. I've heard rumors that Rivers of Light will start on Earth Day (4/22, I think?) so I'm really hoping it is on for our trip!
have spent most of the afternoon rearranging some plans. We decided we wanted something different for some of our ADRs and I had to change things up to get the ADRs I wanted. Isn't it amazing we weren't sure what we wanted to eat on a given day six months in advance?
I really think it will be a lot of fun. Yes, I'm sure the Utilidors are a bit of a letdown for most people who expect something grand and exciting... but just getting a glance behind the scenes will be interesting to say the least. That being said, I have pretty low expectation of this portion of the trip and am just excited to get to do it.
I'd be tempted to just find something to do in the park. Yeah, you might get an hour at Pop, but you could spend an hour or more just trying to get to Pop and then back to FW. If you really need to lay down for a while, it might be worth it, but I'd be tempted to just hang out in MK or maybe even visit MK area resorts and find somewhere quiet just to sit and relax for a while. Our tour should conclude about 1 or 1:30 and this is where I need some opinions. I rescheduled our HDDR for this day at four, I was thinking we would have enough time to go back to POP for an hour and nap but now I'm not sure. Any opinions on this. If we don't go back and nap we may just do relaxing things to get off our feet like the Liberty Bell and train until its time to head to Fort Wilderness. We'll have our early dinner at HDDR and hopefully have a good time.
I kind of agree with you. I'm not all that interested in the menu, and the whole idea that you'd have to cancel an ADR at least 24 hours in advance to take your chance on getting in there at some point is frustrating. We have an ADR at BoG for 8. I considered changing it and trying out Skipper Canteen, but as much as I want to like it, I just do not. I have not heard many good reviews of the service and the food is not really anything that appeals to me. For that reason, we will be sticking to BoG.
Getting from Pop to Fort Wilderness is quite the pain. I feel that if you will already will be at MK already, you would better serve yourselves by doing an in park break. Our family favorite way is to hit up tomorrowland and do Peoplemover a few times and then carousel of progress. If we have more time to kill and or just want to stay off our feet a bit longer we will then go over to Monsters inc laugh floor. The ac and the cool breeze make a big difference.I rescheduled our HDDR for this day at four, I was thinking we would have enough time to go back to POP for an hour and nap but now I'm not sure. I feel the same way about the Skipper Canteen. I really wanted to like it. But I just don't.We will have used our FPs at HS that morning, but I am hoping I can get one or two this night in the park. This is what frustrates me so much about the 180 day ADR system.
I agree, I never expected anything more than plain hallways for employees like most other establishments the niceness ends in the employee only area. Still exciting though, how often do you get this chance?I really think it will be a lot of fun. Yes, I'm sure the Utilidors are a bit of a letdown for most people who expect something grand and exciting... but just getting a glance behind the scenes will be interesting to say the least.
This is what I was afraid of, if I could hang out in a lounge for awhile it would be fine but they don't see to open until 4I'd be tempted to just find something to do in the park. Yeah, you might get an hour at Pop, but you could spend an hour or more just trying to get to Pop and then back to FW. I have heard this is nice and relaxing.WL has a lot of great seating areas in less traveled areas... I think 3rd floor, if I remember right as some nice places overlooking the lobby.
Very true, on this particular night I would be giving up BOG and that's just not going to happen for the possibility of getting a table.I kind of agree with you. I'm not all that interested in the menu, and the whole idea that you'd have to cancel an ADR at least 24 hours in advance to take your chance on getting in there at some point is frustrating.
I love this idea in theory, but only if every other restaurant was also doing this too.I hate the ADR system... well, more than most people. So I kind of like this seating system where you just walk up, put in your name an then they text you. Actually, I love that idea.
Agree 100%But with the whole book FP+ 60 days out and book ADRs 180 days out, Disney is pretty much telling you to schedule everything in advance and take any flexibility out of your planning. You really can't have it both ways...![]()

Lol so true.I feel the same way about the Skipper Canteen. I really wanted to like it. But I just don't.
Darn, bake to the drawing board.I agree that heading back to Pop and then over to Fort Wilderness may be cutting it close. Maybe see Hall of Presidents or find a bench to relax on with a Dole Whip?
YesAre you doing Keys to the Kingdom?
Yeah, I appreciate the commitment to the theme, but that food is not my cup of tea.And I'm with you on Skipper Canteen. I really want to give it a try but I don't like the walk up seating and the menu doesn't seem appealing.
Thanks, luckily my kids are too little to give me a hard time, but I have enough guilt on my own without them piling it onI love the title! We are doing the same thing this summer (going without kids) although our kids are older. They gave us a really hard time about going without them!
I always approve of a change of plans to Via Napoli! Thanks to you guys for chiming in about our plans so far, because of your suggestions I am canceling HDDR. As much as I try, it just does not fit in with our plans. I will save this for another trip where we take a night off and can go over there. I have book Via Napoli which I am honestly so excited about
.
Oh boy... if I was going on an adults only trip and planned to be mostly in the parks, I'd save the money and use Disney transportation. But if you're planning to spend much time visiting other resorts... I'd lean towards renting a car. What I am asking for is what are you opinions bus or car?![]()
Its funny because we have much less restrictions this time and I found myself being very overwhelmed with wanting to do so much and still not having enough time.
Its probably for the best. you'll have more fun at HDDR with your boys with you anyways. Its just such a pain to get to.Thanks to you guys for chiming in about our plans so far, because of your suggestions I am canceling HDDR. As much as I try, it just does not fit in with our plans. Its stressful trying a new method of planning isn't it.We've always done the complete package with dining and I was unsure about having to link the tickets and everything, but it all went smoothly and the tickets are now linked and ready for FP reservations which I will be making on March 2.
I'll chime in with my vote on this matter when I get back. I keep hearing that Pop has one of the best Bus systems.I know people like to not have to drive on vacation, but Joe and I don't feel that way. What I am asking for is what are you opinions bus or car?![]()
Glad you are getting your Mickey Waffles.I know you can get other waffles and even mickey waffles at CS, but really we just wanted to go back to Chef Mickey'sbecause we love it. I couldn't find any breakfast times the whole week we were there, so I settled on brunch. Not sure how it will compare to our beloved breakfast, but at least there will be Mickey waffles.
Freedom for more options just ends up making my brain hurt. Its funny because we have much less restrictions this time and I found myself being very overwhelmed with wanting to do so much and still not having enough time.
