Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

Got back last week from a 9 night stay, I just love this resort! I was able to check in early which I greatly appreciated after getting 3 hours of sleep the night before in order to catch my flight!

Stayed in Building 3, which was a very short walk to everything.

Was hoping to find a Bouceback offer for February or December, but there was nothing for my dates, in fact there wasn't much of anything available at any resorts for the dates I was looking at, so I didn't even book a Bounceback.
I'm so sorry to hear about the bounceback but glad you had a good stay. Of course you did! POFQ is wonderful!

You should always book a BounceBack. How many days has it been since you left POFQ? You can always book a placeholder BB rate for any time in the current BB window.

You can always check back as often as you want to see if any BB Offers open up for periods you are interested in. Worst case if you can't find a BB that covers your next trip then you are able to simply cancel it.

Glad to hear you say this! This is exactly what we did....book a BounceBack for Nov. 2026 as a placeholder for possible 2027 trip. We figure we can get our deposit back if we have to cancel :)

No reason to book a Bounceback if the only offers I received were for resorts I had no interest in staying at.

Availability changes all the time, a resort not initially available can become available! I change my resort often. Do a rooms only BB reservation and you pay just the $200 deposit. I do it all the time, even if I have no intention of staying where I book. I book it and then keep checking or calling to see if what I want is available, then modify at the BB discount. It's been the highest discount offered in the past few years. If nothing, then I cancel and go with whatever discount (renting DVC or another discount) is offered where I want to stay.

Agreed except that a room-only reservation has a one-night's deposit (not $200--that's the package deposit). I'm a serial bounceback reserver. It almost makes no sense not to do it unless you know you're never coming back . . . unlike me--I know I'm always coming back!

Not true, you can do a rooms only ticketless package for the $200. That is what I always do because I have an AP and don't want to tie up one night room/tax for a deluxe resort stay. $200 is fine, but over $500 I can use that for other things. EDIT: I should add, you do have to call to book the ticketless room package, you can't do it online.

Dates, resorts, room categories change with this offer. Even if you just book a value for a couple of nights for next year you saved the offer. You can call to modify when you see something you like.

Ah. I did not know that. Thanks for posting!

I never book a package, even a ticketless one (I also have an AP), because I prefer the cancellation policy of the room-only booking. And I can no longer afford the deluxe resorts, except with a now-rare discount. 😭

I'm right there with you on the room only cancellation policy. It is much less restrictive.

I would like to stop by the gift shop here today but I am not going to be staying. Will they allow me to park today to buy something there or are they being strict due to the holidays?

Thanks

Hello, in the current POFQ room TV setup how easy is it to connect an Amazon Fire tv stick to log into our streaming apps? Is there an HDMI in the tv or in the console below it? I found info on casting from another device, but I'd rather direct connect instead of casting to the tv from my laptop, when I tried doing that at Riverside I had trouble with the audio

Happy New Year everybody.

As previously indicated, from the 1st of January 2026, new simplified booking categories for the Port Orleans resorts have been implemented. The ability to book specific type views has been eliminated, replaced with Categories that specify general areas of the resort but which could overlook gardens/courtyards, the river, a pool... or a parking lot. If you'd prefer a specific view, you need to ask for it in advance as a Request (which is not guaranteed of course).

For Port Orleans French Quarter the three Booking Categories are now:
  • Standard Location (buildings 1, 6, or 7)
  • Preferred Location (buildings 2, 3, 4 or 5) [NEW]
  • King Bed
And for Port Orleans Riverside you get those same three options plus two extras:
  • Standard Location (Magnolia Bend mansion buildings)
  • Standard Location - 5th Sleeper (Alligator Bayou)
  • Preferred Location (buildings 14, 15, 18 or 27, plus parts of mansion buildings 85 and 90)
  • King Bed
  • Royal Guest Room (mansion building 95)
All of the resort maps and building floorplans on my site have now been updated to reflect the new changes, including listing the new walk-in shower locations for both French Quarter and the three refurbished mansion buildings at Riverside. Please see my Room Categories and Locations page for more details.

Thanks! at the time i wrote that we hadnt yet gotten into the POFQ room yet. Yes they had the breakout on the counter console. When we hooked up the fire stick to the HDMI the volume was at its highest setting and no way to control it, mute it, lower it, anything. Guest relations sent someone from engineering to the room and they said its a known issue, solved by connecting to the hdmi in the actual media box that's behind the console unit.
Surprised you haven't found it already. There's an HDMI breakout socket on the counter top, under the TV.
