So, I happened to be at the Wilderness Lodge this morning and I snapped a few shots of the construction with my iPhone.

The construction walls are all up.

The trees! :sad2: I was not expecting that I'd like what was coming but that's very sad. I hope this doesn't become one of those pools without shade.

Just got back, never did make it over to the villas during daylight hours. The rest of the resort was beautiful, and I have to say although I adore Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas I did miss staying at VWL.

Looks like you all have great updates on the construction picture wise. I wouldn't have been able to add to these. These pictures of the trees missing from the pool and Boat rental locations are crushing me. Glad I didn't see it in person.

One thing to note: My daughter reported as she rode the monorail past the lodge on Wednesday, someone on board shouted "Timber!" getting everyone's attention as a large tree was felled in the area near the waterway. As I passed it yesterday on the bus, it certainly looks like they're starting to clear land for the villas on that side, although I was surprised to see them clearing so close to the roadway. Time for me to pull up that development map and take another looksie.

Yes, they have started clearing trees on the other side as well (left side of the diagram below). However, I didn't capture any photos.

World Drive runs just off the bottom left of the diagram (not visible in this cropped version).

I am really concerned with the cabins on the left side, bottom of the site plan. They are really close to world drive and as I posted in another thread, the view is not the best. I would hate to pay the premium price to stay there and have that view compared to the views on the other side of the lodge.

It seems like the cabins will extend almost all the way to river country.

Too many cabins IMO.

That is indeed VWL development land we were seeing then. Thank you for bringing up your gif for us! From the roadway it looks like perhaps 3 lots were being cleared, however given the low angle I saw it from, it was probably more.

I also thought the location odd/bad. Staying at the Wilderness Lodge, the last thing many of us want to see and hear is a busy roadway. I'm sure DVC will categorize these cabins so we will be able to reserve quieter units since these ones on the connecting waterway will have a view of the fireworks and monorail and most certainly a higher point per night price.

I just stayed at VWL Dec 6 thru the 12. It was a total waste of time, points and airfare. I had an awful time. No place quiet, the pool was crowded, we got to listen to powersaws from our patio. I could do that at home. I find it incredible that Disney charges you full points and won't transfer you to a different resort despite several requests to do so. I am seriously considering selling my points. I will never stay at WVL again. I may never go to a Disney resort again.

Contact member satisfaction and discuss it with them. We were offered a point credit if we stayed there but we chose to let them move us to AKV.

sorry to hear about your bad time Tinkerbelljean. I was there on Thursday and Friday last week and had the opposite experience. We were in and out of the resort a couple times each day between parks. While I did not like my first floor construction view, I thought the noise level was pretty good, with Saturday almost being none. The noise level was the worst when we first arrived Thursday afternoon, so maybe we caught the end of what was real bad.

If you did not receive a notice from them in advance with the option to move or point reduction, I would definitely contact them.

Sorry DVC Mike's photo only shows up as an attachment.

What a big difference a week makes in a construction area, we took this photo on 12/2/15.

Or this photo we took in June 2015.
