Chelsea and Kensington area

I am now starting to do some serious planning for the London and Edinburgh trip with my DD17 this summer (late July into August). I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by the accommodation options though. Looking to perhaps book through Homeaway. I am looking at the Chelsea Kensington area. Any thoughts? I want easy access to a tube station but am pretty easy to please otherwise. We will be doing the usual touristy things and will be definitely seeing as much theatre as we can!

@crazymama they are upmarket areas and would be more pricey than other areas. My best advice is to open up Google Maps and take a look at the areas / possible address of where you would like to stay. Both the Tube stations and bus stops are shown on Google Maps. I would advise being no more than 1 street away from a bus stop or Tube station. On Google Maps click on the bus stop symbol. It will tell you which bus route stops there. Then go to here https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/buses/ and enter the bus route number in the search box. You will then the route information and frequency of that bus. For the Tube, just click on the Tube station on Google Maps and you will get which lines go through that station. Then go here http://content.tfl.gov.uk/large-print-tube-map.pdf and follw the lines to see where that line runs to.

Thanks for the good advice! I tell you once you start combing through Homeaway or VRBO it gets daunting!

Very pricey areas. But then again it's all pricey. You might find it cheaper around the east of the City if budgets not huge but both Chelsea nd KensiMyton are very nice areas to stay. Chelsea is close to Natural History Museum. One good tip, go onto www.skygarden.London and book in plenty of time to go up to the sky garden in the Walkie Talkie. It's free and about the best view in London. It's my office building so I get that view a lot and I still love showing people it for the first time,
