Best Rate Program ??? Ha Ha

I was curious and wanted to see just what kind of "best rates" were being offered for AP holders on a Dec. 17-20 trip. Here is what was given as a "Best Rate" on selected resorts:

$182 per night at the FW Cabins
$249 per night at the BW
$260 per night at the Poly
$306 per night at the CR
and hang on to your hats......
$406 per night at the AKL !!!!! :rotfl:

Whew!!! What great deals!!

Am I missing something here? :confused3 I was able to get a room at the CR during Easter week for $199 per night. And that was during Peak season. Who would book these crazy offers???

for 17-19 I got...

WL 412.56
AKL 468.32
CR Tower 613.28
CR st 388.04
ASM 133.36
GF 622.20
OKW 421.48

those are totals with tax and everything for 2 nights. I don't think WDW discounts are going to go as deep as they used to anymore.

Well you would book these "crazy offers" because they are supposed to be the best offers that will be out. You will be able to book AP rates the old way but they are not supposed to be lower than the best offer. Unfortunately I think rates of the past are gone.

the rates seem the same to me...especially for the all stars and WL was not the reg view, which is what I want.

Be careful what you are looking at on the AP Best Rate website. Look to make sure you are seeing AP rates. If there is no availabilty (either because someone else beat you to all the discounted rooms - there is a limited number or because they have not released the AP rates yet), they show you rack rate and if you continue to book, you are NOT booking the AP Best Rate but a standard reservation just as if you booked on www.disney.com. Your rate will not go down.

The true AP rates are lower than the AAA rates, but are higher than AP rates have been in past years. The reason to book them is that the rate is as good as it is likely to get. If Disney has discovers they have been overly optomistic about their booking rates and have to discount further, people in the AP Best Rate get the new rate automaticly.

Bookings are up, discounts are down. What you got in the past is irrelevant.

I'm confused, but maybe I'm reading your post incorrectly. Which is true ~ that "your rate will not go down"? OR that "people in the AP Best Rate get the new rate automatically "?

That is the big debate right now. I thought it would automatically go down when I booked rack. But I had to call, rebook, and they did give me a refund. I've gotten different answers every call. We still don't know. :confused3

Good luck!!

Are you sure you were in the best rate system? I just did AKL for Dec 17 to 20, I got $903 for 3 nights for deluxe savannah view, I modified it to standard view and got $431 for 3 nights, which is $144 with tax per night or $129 before tax. Seems like a good room rate.

Fort Wilderness was $548 for 3 nights, Boardwalk was $749 for 3 nights standard view, Poly was $782 for 3 nights garden view, Contemporary was $582 for standard or $919 for tower (total 3 nights).

Chris,
I will automatically go down, even if you have it booked at "rack" rate if you are in the Best Rate Guarantee program. I posted about this below. I booked a room for one of my clients under this plan, and his room was coming up at rack rates, but with the best rate guarantee. Then a couple of days ago we got a call from Disney that the rate had been lowered. So it does work that way.
Even if your best rate guarantee comes up at rack rate, there is still the possibility that the rate will go down. You should not have to call and cancel and rebook (that defeats the purpose of the plan.)

Who would book these crazy offers???

People that are going anyway and don't want to pay rack rate.

I had CSR booked for $149 a night, now I'm paying $109.

$406 per night at the AKL !!!!!

That's for concierge, and taxes are alreasy included. A standard room is $129 a night

Debbie B --
Can you tell me how you pulled up those rates? I just went on again and got the same rates I posted yesterday. I cannot even get the WL to pull up-- it pulls up a rate for the FW cabins instead.

I click on the passholders icon, and then entered my id #'s and went to the best rate icon under the special offers section.

Did you do something different?

That's how I did it. I just tried it again and got the same rates as I posted above for AKL. Do you get this paragraph above the rates:

>>Passholder Best Rate Program - Rooms must be booked at least 120 days in advance and a non-refundable deposit of 1-night room charge and tax must be paid at the time of booking. Currently this Program is only available for arrivals through 12/19/05. The number of rooms and nights available for this Program is limited and rooms are not available every night. This Program is subject to change or discontinuance at any time and without notice. Passholder must present valid Pass at check in. I just got POFQ tru my travel agent of $109 for best rate 12-11 to 12-18 So it is lower then rack which I had 149.00 for River view room. I let them do the work not me otherwise I would go nuts. They take all the stress away from me. I only concern myself with ADR's .

Seems the Best Rate program is one situation where using a Disney specialist TA is to your advantage. :flower:
