Artist Point strategy/advice?

I know this the dinner is a popular ADR. We have a party of 8 and are staying off-site.

Do I have any hope? Do I need to break up the party and do two groups of four?

Hi, I can't comment on a group of 8, but I keep doing "practice runs" at the exact time of release for reservations 60 days out (11am for me in the UK) as we are also staying offsite. My main goal is CRT for 4. I was finding there are a couple of spaces initially but have found, now the 60 days out puts it at Easter, there is nothing left. That said, when I sometimes look at the next day or two (owing to cancellations), there can be openings. I'll carry on with practice runs once the 60 days is past April! Not sure what time of year you are going?

I was at WDW over Thanksgiving weekend 2022. Storybook Dining at Artist Point was available for booking dinner day-of every single day I was there. I checked same-day dinner availability between noon and 3pm. Artist Point was always available, with multiple time slots, for parties of 4. I'd suggest breaking your group into 2 parties of 4 if possible. I had disliked this dinner the first time I tried it a couple of years ago when it first opened. I decided to give it one more try - glad to report that I really enjoyed it this time. Note - same day dinner availability was massive. All the "hot spots" are always available day-of. Including CRT, Space 220, Topolino's, BOG, etc. (I don't do ADR's any more.)

Given that they have reduced the cancellation period to up to two hours ahead for most restaurants, I would think last min dining would be much easier to get.

same here a lot came flooding in w the alerts within 24 hours. I will say the time we got was later than I would have liked with little children but it all worked out.

Hopefully you get it when you book adrs but if not and you really want it then just keep trying. I’ve had great luck using one of the adr finder apps but I’ve also had great luck finding by just continuing to check. Stuff pops up all the time.
