AP questions for a noob

we are planning a trip Thanksgiving 2017. I am considering getting an Ap for this trip, but I have few questions:

1. Are there actually AP room deals for that week?
2. How early in advance do you buy your AP?
3 does the discount really rack up with that and TabLes in Wonderland?

1. I wouldn't count on any discounts the week of Thanksgiving
2. I would buy it at least 60 days if I had a resort reservation so that I could book fp+ at the earliest opportunity
3. the AP discount is most valuable for resort room discounts, imo. As far as food and merchandise goes, the savings is limited. TiW is better for dining discounts than an AP.
