Another way to make a little extra cash for our Disney funds

I just looked on the FAQ page and under the part that says "video review basics" the question that asks "can I earn money for my videos?" it still says $10. Where does it say $5 now? Thanks

It was announced in the forum, and here is the page showing the new promotion: http://www.expotv.com/make/get_started

On the far right it shows you can do 10 product reviews now, and shows the $5 payment for reviews other then most wanted. I am pretty bummed now that Jessica has chimed in on the forums. I thought when it said be the first, it still meant first 5 people. It literally means the first 1 person for the $20 reviews. That sucks, who knows how many are pending review before yours. I uploaded 5 of those tonight, hopefully no one beat me to them. I have at least 25 other things on the 20 list, but I doubt I can be the first person on all of them. BUMMER! I will not be doing any reviews for $5, and I sure wish I could tell if I was the first on the $20, because if you aren't the first they become a $5 review.

I'm pretty upset about this. I just started again a couple of months ago. I quit for quite awhile after the last downturn. I think it was a thoughtless business move to change earning potential from $200 to $50 right before the holidays. I would be okay with $10 for 10 reviews. At least it wouldn't seem like I was wasting my time. And $20 for THE FIRST review on that page of items. Give me a break. What a joke.

Unfortunately this is how Expo TV works. A few months ago people had some harsh words for the site and many newer members defended them. Now maybe they see why we were so frustrated. This isn't the first time they've treated us this way. :headache:

Unfortunately expo is a business and they need to make money just like everyone else. I am not going to defend expo but I do have to look at it as it was great while it lasted. I have been on for about a year and half now and there have been many ups and downs in that time. I stopped several times when payouts changed or suddenly all videos were rejected, etc. $5 is not sounding like a bad deal at all to me. It went months where they were only worth $2 and then the $3 last month at the end.

I just keep my eyes out and do what is worth it to me!

I must have missed that. For the $20 reviews, it's only the first person to get approved to get the $20? Expo must be having some money trouble to make such drastic changes.

Thats what I thought, but then why up the payment for referrals?
I'm just confused...
Also, where did they get the list for "hot" holiday toys? The ponyville teapot house was hot last year, this year there is the amusement park if you are into ponyvilles.
And why $20 for reviewing the dimond castle barbie, and not the diamond castle? I want to see opinions on a $95 dollhouse before I want to watch a $20 barbie.

I know that is what I was thinking! There are so many toys I would like to see people review, and a barbie is not 1 of them. I mean come on, how much can you say about a barbie, and it doesn't even have a lot of accessories. You would think they would have looked at the hot holiday toy list that one of the toy websites has or something.

But when they were $2 you still had higher earning potential because you could do more then 10 videos, and they didn't have to be high quality (which takes time). I didn't do any last month because of the $3 change.

Even 20 for $3 is $60, still higher then $50 for 10 reviews.

I was FINALLY going to expotv to watch and learn from others reviews rather then amazon.com. But if they stop taking in real, normal reviews I will just continue to use amazon.com.

Okay they just confirmed that assignments that involve product reviews, like the review any Gain product, or any LG product, still count towards the 10 product reviews, even though it says complete unlimited assignments. I thought doing some of those would help make up for the 10 for 5, but since they still count towards the 10, it won't help nearly as much. :furious:

yeah, I feel the same way. I was really looking forward to using expo reviews this Christmas shopping season. (I am super anal about buying kids stuff, and will read every single review on amazon.) Back to amazon for researching, since no one will be reviewing what I'm looking for!

DH and I were talking about this point last night...
That the sponsors really don't care about the review, just making us go out and buy the product just so we can review it. Pretty smart advertising ploy.
Also, with these companies becoming official sponsors of Expo, are we allowed to do a negative review? Are we allowed to say we like another product better? :confused3 Makes you wonder...hurray socialism!

I agree....and I don't think I would trust a review for any of the buy it for less then $20 and review it items. Think about it, if someone buys it to review it, and they want to be the first person to review it.....are they really going to test out the product? Probably not, they will more then likely just buy it and quickly shoot out a review. That completly defeats the purpose of Expo. I want to see products that people are passionate one way or another about, not ones they choose because Expo would pay them more for and they rushed to review.

I just noticed they are only do a drawling for $100 for those who have more then 5 referrals in a single month. Based on the super recruiters I have looked at before, none of them have ever had 5 in 1 month, or at least as far as I can tell. I bet this means they won't be drawing 100 at all most months, which will save them some money on recruiting in the long term.

I wonder if things will get better when less people are trying to make money for the holidays. Maybe there were too many people reviewing to pay them all out now. I guess I should be happy I made what I did while I did.

I just thought I'd resurrect this thread. I did all the vids I could this month, maxed out on the 10 (remember the months of 100!) and did all the assignments I could. I really hope I win a gift card for something. I haven't won anything in a very long time. It would be nice this time of year!

Wow. Can't believe how far this thread was buried. Just wondering if anyone has gotten paid yet for November? I looked and didn't see anything in the expo forums about it...................

last month, expo showed a payment on my earnings screen but I never actually received it, neither did dh so I emailed them and asked about it, and they responded...OOPs and they did pay up, but I would keep my eye on that.;)

I haven't done any videos since they reduced the limit. I also haven't been paid for any PPP.
