5 sickos, 4 planes, 3 kids, 2 resorts and 1 crazy vacation!

Day 5 - "Off" Resort Day

The plan for the day was to 1. Relax 2. Breakfast at The Wave 3. Some pool time 4. Supper ADR at 'Ohana 5. Maybe head over to Disney Springs for some shopping.

However, I woke up on Day 5 with a crazy thought. I ran the idea by Grouchy before we even got out of bed. He was (reluctantly) on board, so I called the kids into our room to ask them what they thought.

The kids came in and Ry was TOTALLY excited!! Jay-Bob, didn't like the idea so much, but was talked into it. Lulu, had zero opinion because she would be too young to participate in my plans.

We had a 10am ADR for The Wave, so we spent the morning talking about our plans, doing some research on it and getting ready. We would be heading down to finalize the plans after breakfast.

We head to The Wave for some breakfast. I'd read good things about this place and was excited to try it. We were seated quickly and opted for the buffet.

I have to say, I was pretty disappointed with the food here. I'm a big hash brown fan, but they weren't good at all. They were this mushy variety with cheese mixed in. There was a lot of variety to choose from, but nothing that stood out.

After breakfast, we headed down to secure our reservations for my fantastic idea I'd had earlier. Ry and I got a reservation for 1pm and Jay and Grouchy got one for 1:30. We had to take turns since Lulu was too young to join us.

We spent the next couple of anxious hours in the room just chilling out. The kids played on their iPads/watched some TV. It was some much needed down time. Jay was feeling 100% back to himself, which was such a relief. Lulu was down to just a runny nose. Grouchy had some type of stomach issue going on, but nothing that prevented him from participating.

At 12:30 we headed down to the pool area of Contemporary for our reservations. What were we going to do?!?!

Wait for it..

Parasailing!!
I was sooo excited!! I've always wanted to go parasailing and what better location than over the Bay Lake!!??

We walked down to the Sammy Duvall's Watersports Centre desk that's located by the Contemporary pool and signed in. Since they wouldn't allow Lulu on the boat, we had to take turns. The price really wasn't too bad at $170 for a tandem flight. We would get to go 400ft out and the experience lasted 10 minutes. We also paid an extra $20 for them to take pictures and provide us with a flash disk with our pictures.

I think it's important to note here that both Grouchy and I are rather afraid of heights. I'm even scared of ferris wheels!

So Ry and I were up first. We boarded the boat with the 2 instructors and 2 other couples. There was another couple ahead of us, so we got to watch them go up first. They were instructed to sit at the end of the boat, with their backs facing the water (right behind the driver in the above photo), while they were strapped in and then the boat takes off super fast and they lifted into the air.

This is where the fear set it. Ry was being a total trooper and was very excited. I was looking for the nearest exit. But there was no escape without looking like a total wimp! This HAD been my idea!!

So, the couple before us came down and it was our turn. We were strapped in and released into the air!

OMG it was so high! It actually wasn't that bad until we hit wind and were jerked around some. I held on for dear life and tried to take in the scenario, which was amazing! We could see all the way to the Tower of Terror. It was pretty spectacular! It was also the longest 10 minutes of my life. Once we got down, I so happy that we did it. And what an experience for the kids to have!

Once we got back to shore, it was Grouchy and Jay-Bob's turn.

They also had a great time!

We waited for them on the beach by the pool, which is a pretty quiet little place to relax.

After we were all done with our adventure, we went back to the room and changed into our swimming gear and headed out for a swim. It, again, was a pretty hot day.

After swimming, we cleaned up and got changed and headed out for our supper ADR at 'Ohana! I was SOOOOOOOOOOOO excited for this meal as I'd heard many great things about it!

We headed up to the Monorail and rode over to the Polynesian. I'd never been to this resort before, so I was looking forward to checking it out. The monorail ride was super quick, and as usual, we didn't have much wait.

It has such great theming!

I had considered staying at this resort, but for some reason, they don't have 1 bedroom villas!?

Anyway, we were there about 20 minutes early, but had no problem checking in and were given our buzzer. On the way over, Lulu had fallen asleep in her stroller and they told us that we could bring the stroller right into the restaurant, which was super convenient!!

We strolled around the shops for a few minutes and before we knew it, they were doing their little pre-supper welcome and we were called to be seated.

As soon as we were seated, our "Cousin" came around, took our drink orders and brought us our bread. Sorry for the bit marks, but we hadn't eaten since breakfast and were starving!!

Delicious! I could have spent the entire meal eating bread. But I'm sure glad I didn't!

Salad up next.

Again, very tasty!

Next they brought out the chicken wings and pork dumplings. The pork dumplings were my absolute fav. I think I ate 10 of these things. The wings were just meh.

The noodles and veggies were also excellent. I had a couple of servings of the noodles!

Meanwhile, Lulu was also enjoying her meal.

BAHAHHA!! This restaurant is NOT quiet! But she slept through the entire thing. I don't think she woke up until we were on the monorail back to BLT.

Next up were the skewers!!

1930780_10156716570590182_5512099180687665469_n.jpg

Chicken and beef. The beef was ok, but the chicken. Well the chicken was glorious.

Last, but certainly not least was the bread pudding..

It was also very good, but I had very, very little room left for dessert!

12108862_10156716570645182_1649529952718631119_n.jpg

Somewhere in the middle, the kids were called up for a coconut race or something like that. Ry, ever the competitive kid, won the race and they all got leis.

Overall, this was my absolute favourite meal of the trip. The food was all so delicious and there was lots of it. And mommy got to enjoy it in peace because the toddler slept through the whole thing!! I love the atmosphere and all the cousins were terrific! I highly, highly recommend this!

My kids, who are super picky eaters, all found something they liked. They got chocolate cupcakes for dessert.

We headed back to the resort and Lulu finally woke up. We stopped and filled up on snacks before going to our room and called it a night!

What a terrific day for an "off" day!

Up next - Day six - Epcot!!!

Day 6 - Epcot early day!

I was super excited for Epcot. We hadn't visited Epcot in several years due to the lack of attractions geared towards kids, but now that the boys were taller, I was excited to go back. Major bummer that Soarin was under refurb since we've never been on. Lulu is also a very big Baymax fan. I knew she was going to get a kick out of meeting him! I also couldn't wait to give him a fist pump!

The plan for the day was to hit Epcot early and stay until early afternoon.

We got up early with no issues and headed to CR to catch the monorail to the TTC and from there jump on the monorail to Epcot. As we walked toward the monorail station, however, we found that the monorail was down. Again.

So, instead we headed out to the bus stop.

Here we came across our first issue with the buses. We waited at the bus stop and the sign posted said the next Epcot bus was due in 10 minutes. Ok, no problem. While we were waiting, there were multiple Animal Kingdom buses, Hollywood Studios and lots of TTC buses. Even a couple of Disney Springs buses (even though most places here don't open until 10am, but whatevs). 10 minutes passed.. another 10. There is a large number of people waiting for an Epcot bus. When the next TTC bus comes along, they finally announce that the TTC buses also go to Epcot after stopping at the TTC. Oh. Thanks for mentioning that. So we hopped on the bus and were off.

Because of the waiting, we'd missed rope drop and there was a gigantic line for security to check bags. It took us a few minutes to get in. By the time we finally got into the park, we were getting close to our first fastpass time which was for Test Track at 9:30. I was hoping to hit Mission Space early since due to the tiering, we didn't have a fastpass for it.

But first up was Baymax! We headed right over to his greet and there was no wait!

They made the kids take off their trading pins and drop our bags. Not taking any chances with busting Baymax!

Lulu was totally in AWE over Baymax, but pretty intimidated because he was so big.
12321343_10156739612950182_3636856913337324159_n.jpg

We didn't have a great interaction with him though. I think he really has a hard time moving around and hearing people. We'd asked him several times for a fist pump before he heard us.

On our way to Test Track, we checked the wait for Mission Space and it was only 10 minutes, so the boys and I jumped in line and grabbed a rider swap.
We hadn't been on Mission Space before, so we did the less intense ride. Overall, I was pretty disappointed in this. The whole idea of it was pretty cool, but the non-intense ride was pretty tame. When we got out, we found Grouchy and Lulu in the little play around inside the building right by the exit of the ride. I wish more of the attractions had these little playgrounds for the younger kids to keep them entertained while older kids went on the ride. We still had a little bit of time before our FP for Test Track ended, so Grouchy went on with the boys. I told him to pick the more intense side. Lulu needed her diaper changed, so we did that and back to the playground while we waited for the boys.

When they got out, Grouchy was looking a little green. Apparently the more intense side is much more intense. You've gotta wonder about a ride where they supply puke bags, though, right?? Enjoy the ride, here's something to puke in. :crazy2:

After Mission Space, we quickly headed over to Test Track. I went on first with the boys. This was our first time riding. We went through the queue and soon were designing the car. We let Jay-Bob design his first and when they went on with Grouchy, Ry was going to get his turn to design the car.

934139_10156739612985182_5254746589260935988_n.jpg

It was a lot of fun! We went into the next room and waited to board. I gotta say, this is probably the longest fastpass wait we had the whole trip. We must have waited at least 20 minutes. We finally loaded into our car. The ride is pretty fun! It was rather tame until we got to the outside part and then it really picked up! We enjoyed it!

We decided to leave the rider swap portion until later because we were already cutting into our next fastpass and wanted to catch up.

Next, we headed over to the Seas for our Nemo fastpass. I had the kids watch the Nemo movie a couple weeks before we left because they hadn't yet seen it. Lulu loved the movie and I know she was looking forward to finding him.

On Nemo..

12919837_10156739613095182_5131849613361347407_n.jpg

We all enjoyed Nemo and then spent some time wondering around the aquarium.. Lulu loves herself some fish!

12920307_10156739613150182_5516548984129762975_n.jpg

We finished up here and went to our last fastpass of the day, meeting Mickey and friends.

There was only Mickey, Minnie and Goofy meeting. I don't know if this is typical, but I know when we were here a few years ago, the whole gang met here!

After the meet, we head over to the Electric Umbrella for some lunch! We were hungry!
Lunch was burgers for the boys and pulled pork for me. It was all typical quick service fare.

After lunch, we went back to Test Track so grouchy could take his turn on with the boys. Lulu settled down in the stroller for her nap.

We then had plans to hit the world showcase for some browsing before heading back to the resort to get ready for our dinner plans.

We took some pictures along the way. It was in the middle of the flower and garden festival and the park was beautiful!

We barely made it into the world showcase before the heat and tiredness took over. We turned around, grabbed some smoothies at Joffery's and headed out of the park.

The monorail was up and running so we took it to the TTC, transferred over to the resort Monorail and arrived at our resort. We relaxed for a bit and then got ready for our supper ADR at 1900 Park Fare!

Up Next - 1900 Park Fare!

Dinner ADR on Day 6 - 1900 Park Fare!

We hopped on the monorail and headed over to the Grand Floridian. Such a beautiful resort! I had concerned booking here, but it just seemed to fancy pants for my rough-around-the-edges family.

I tried getting my kids to watch Cinderella before we left, but they just weren't interested. I booked this ADR strictly for the interactions with the Stepmother and Stepsisters. I couldn't wait to see what they were up to!

Beautiful resort!

I LOVE that they never break character. They were very entertaining.

The best part of this meal were the interactions. The food.. I hardly remember it to be honest. Very forgetable.. typical Disney buffet variety!

Up Next - Animal Kingdom!

Wow!!! I can't believe you are only on page 2 and half way done with your trip. That's a lot of information lol. But at least I know you will probably finish your trip report. LOL Your kids are so cute. And your daughter is adorable in all her hats. I can't wait to read more, keep it coming.

You have a beautiful family. So sorry your trip started out with sickness. It's worrisome when little ones are sick, but even more so when you are far away from home. Looking forward to reading more about your trip.

I wanted the entire Disney experience and I wanted to do it for 2 weeks.
Good thinking! ::yes::

Of course, the day before we left, I picked Lulu up from daycare with a running nose and nasty cough. Just what we needed! The boys were also battling colds.
Oh no!

We only had 15 minutes left until our flight took off at this point
I would have been at maximum anxiety levels...holy smokes!

We had a nice quiet flight and landed at MCO on time.
Thank goodness!

This is my favourite all time ride photo.. We are having such a great time! Pure happiness in this picture..

This is an absolutely fantastic photo :thumbsup2

I finally got some unpacking done and took some pictures of our view.
BEAUTIFUL

She scraped up her knees, lip and forehead pretty good

As the night went on, Jay's ear got worse. We gave him some Advil for the pain, but he was up several times through the night crying.

Since Jay's ear was still in a lot of pain and he'd started throwing up

Oh man, poor little things!

Overall, we had a fantastic time! I would highly recommend doing this cruise. The captain was very entertaining, the junk food was good and the fireworks view was very nice. Well worth the money. There wasn't a boring moment of the night!
And now I'm off to research the Pirate Pals cruise...

broken and I only had to wipe her nose every 2 minutes instead of every 10 seconds

Parasailing!!
WOW!

What a terrific day for an "off" day!
Agreed. What a wonderful day you had!

The parasailing looks amazing and I'm so impressed you did it with a fear of heights :)

Hi, joining in here ( I just binge-read your whole report) . I'm really enjoying this trip report! Glad to read the kids were feeling better. I was considering the pirates fireworks ride, but I had read on tripadvisor that the view is good from only one side of the boat so I was afraid to book it and get the "bad view" side. I know you said you had great seats, if you had been seated on the other side, would you have had a good view?

Breakfast at Cindy's castle looked a little underwhelming food wise, i'll stick with it for dinner. (We eat there every trip for dinner, but I was considering switching to breakfast.)

Yes, love 1900 park fare, the evil stepmother even had my shy son cracking up.

Cant wait to read more!! :D Marina
