“Mommy, why is that lady taking pictures of her food?" updated w/Aloha Dinner Show

Day Two(Tuesday)

I forgot dinner at Chef Mickey’s! We ate dinner here Tuesday night before Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party. We arrived a half hour early and were seated within five minutes. This was a standard buffet with your basic
as Stitch says “normal” food. They had assorted salads, breads, pasta, potatoes and meats. The prime rib, stuffing and mashed potatoes were our favorites. Overall this was a good meal but I don’t think we will go again and just do one character meal at O’hana’s.

Minnie and I got the blue martini glow drink. I forgot the name but it was really good and who could pass up a drink with the blue glow cube!

Stitch got prime rib and macaroni and cheese (we made him get a good portion of broccoli also). He ended up going back because the prime rib was too rare and getting chicken fingers and broccoli. It was great that he got to eat from the child’s part of the buffet.

Minnie got salad for an app. She got prime rib and some carbs, potatoes, two kinds and penne pasta for her entree. She loved the mashed potatoes.

I got peel and eat shrimp and some bread for an app. I then we for the prime rib, stuffing, penne pastas, roasted chicken, two kinds of potatoes and carrots for my entree. Everything was yummy.

Dessert was standard buffet fare. Stitch got an ice cream cone, Minnie to ice cream also. I got the cheesecake and a Mickey Chocolate thing an Oreo, I did not eat the Oreo but the chocolate mousse was really good.

Great update - thanks :thumbsup2 Can you tell me more about the potatoes that were on offer. Was it mashed and roasted? I am really fussy, as is my DD, and was just wondering whether the potatoes were plain or had 'stuff' mixed in with them :confused3

The potatoes at Chef Mickey's come in both a mashed parmesan and a quartered roasted style, both were very good, but I love potatoes. Stitches wanted no part of them and choose the Mickey macaroni and cheese.

The title is so funny. I'm wondering If my family will let me take pics on our next trip. I would love to give back with a nice review.

The idea of having the corresponding figures to your 'names' present the food is so cute. I LOVE who Stitch is attacking his food.:rotfl:

Thanks again everyone for your kind words.

Day 4 (Thursday):

We ate at our favorite counter service restaurant on Thursday, Flame Tree Barbecue on Discovery Island in Animal Kingdom for lunch on Thursday. We all order the Rib meal which comes with baked beans and cornbread. As usual we loved it all the ribs are dry rubbed which Stitch says is the only way he can eat ribs, he hates Barbecue sauce. The baked beans and cornbread are made to be sweet, some people don’t like them served that way but I do! Everything was great and we ate by the water and watched the ducks and Expedition Everest. We had chocolate cake and key lime pie for dessert, which was quite tasty.

We all had the same thing so I only took one picture, I did not get pictures of the dessert.

The out of pocket cost without the meal plan would have been $46.97, we used 3 counter service credits.

Day 4 (Thursday) continued:

We had reservations at Teppan Edo Thursday night at 6:40. We arrived at EPCOT around 6:20. I put my Magic Your Way card in the ticket kiosk and saw a red light instead of a green?? I tried it again and again. The person at the gate took my card and checked and told me that it was invalidated at 5:15 in the afternoon and that I needed to go to guest services for a new card! I went to Guest Services and stood in line of about 5 people in front of me and it started to rain. My poncho was with my Aunt inside the park, ARGHHH. As I waited in I realized that my Magic Your Way Card must have changed when I added a credit card to my room to get internet service. I do not know why the Cast Member at the front desk did not tell me to get a new card!?!! Well, lesson learned, I got my new card and rushed into the park at 6:40pm, the time of our reservation. I had asked the Guest Services Cast Member to call ahead to Teppan Edo so we could save our spot and when we arrived at 7:00 we were seated in minutes.

I was really excited about this meal because I remember eating here 20 years ago when my parents took me to WDW for my High School Graduation and we loved it.

This is a communal eating restaurant so we were sat with two other families. The first was a Mother and Daughter; the second was a Husband and Wife with their child. They were all great people and we talked a lot as a group not as just individual families.

Stitch who is always very observant was paying close attention to everything going on in the dining room noticed a Chef serving another table and it seemed like she was a much more personable Chef then the one serving the table across from ours. He asked if we could request her. I asked the waitress and she spoke with the manager and we were able to have Ayaka as our Chef! Stitch was right; she was personable funny and warm. The whole table loved her and thanked Stitch for requesting her.

The food was great. I did some creative cropping on some of the pics because I did not want to include images of the other guests without their permission. I forgot to take pictures of the tempura appetizer which was a little soggy.

Now for the fun stuff, pictures:

Ayaka first prepared the vegetables, onions, zucchini, and mushrooms:

Vegetables and Fish/Meat cooking:

Vegetable plated with dipping sauces (vegetable, beef and seafood; I loved all of them, I especially liked the seafood on my Filet Mignon):

“Sesame Street”, Ayaka made jokes and did tricks throughout the preparation of our meal, this was one of them:

Vegetables and Filet Mignon with Mushrooms and vegetables with Udon noodles (I got extra mushrooms because Stitch and Minnie hate mushrooms):

Fruit tart: I took one and one bite alone and I was too full from dinner, it was just o.k.

We all agreed that this was the best tasting and most fun meal of the whole trip. If you are going to WDW soon try and eat here and request Ayaka for your Chef, she was the best. She is going back to Japan in January so hurry at make your reservations at Teppan Edo.

More to come.

Minnie and I both got the cheese steak. We live outside of Philadelphia and are cheese steak experts and we agreed that it was good. The steak however was over salted.

I'm drooling over that close up of the cheese steak....but I'm totally confused.... I went and looked at the menu at two different websites for Pinocchio Village Haus to be sure there would be something my kids would eat (they aren't pizza eaters either).....but I don't see anything even close to cheese steak on the menu. One site lists it as updated in September 07....is the cheese steak THAT new?

All I see is pizza combo; pizza slice, chicken strips, turkey Panini, Italian Sub, and two salads. WHERE is the cheese steak? Is there a secret menu that you have to ask for...or handshake. Do you have to actually live in PA to be allowed to eat one. WAAAAAA.....I want cheese steak!

No secret handshake, you don't have to give up your firstborn, it must be new on the menu. Just ask and you shall receive......your cheesesteak!

Stitch was glad to hear that you liked his idea of having Stitch attack the food, he took great care in arranging his figure to get the best possible shot.

Great review and pictures. Thanks for taking the time.

I can't wait to read more! I love the little figures you use in your photos, what a great idea! Mind if I borrow it?

Stephanie

Please feel free to borrow this idea, I "borrowed" it from someone on this site in the first place and just expanded on the idea.

Whew...thank heavens I don't have to give up my first born....I have identical twins and would hate to break up the set, but well, it IS cheese steak.

Thanks to everyone who has read my report and left such nice comments.

Day Two (Tuesday):

After hours and hours of reading the DIS boards in preparation for this trip I was determined not to eat a cheeseburger or chicken fingers on this trip. I did break that vow later in the week (what can I say sometimes a girl just needs a cheeseburger), but not today!

The first day is always a Magic Kingdom day so we got up early and headed to the park. We were starved by 11:30 so we got together and looked at my list of non-cheeseburger/chicken finger restaurants. Stitch really like the idea of eating while looking at a ride so we decided on Pinocchio’s in Fantasy Land.

Stitch got the cheese pizza, salad and chocolate cake for dessert. I know I said this kid does not like pizza; maybe he doesn’t like pizza at home. I guess faced with the other choices on the menu pizza was the least offensive. :rotfl2: Anyway, this was your standard WDW pizza. He did eat some of the salad. He also decided that he no longer likes blue cheese dressing. When I questioned him he stated that his taste buds changed!? The chocolate cake was saved for later.

Minnie and I both got the cheese steak. We live outside of Philadelphia and are cheese steak experts and we agreed that it was good. The steak however was over salted. The French fries were the best part of the meal. Minnie saved her Strawberry shortcake for later and never ended up eating it. I got the cannoli and while I enjoyed the two bites I had (way too full) it was not the best I ever had.

The total out of pocket cost for this lunch would have been $42.30 without the meal plan but we used 3 counter service credits.

Coming up: Dinner at Chef Mickey's

Good to hear the Cheesesteak was not bad.... We also live outside of Philly and am SCARED to try them anywhere but home LOL

oh no ...I am now addicted to yet anohter WDW food porn thread. is there a dis boards thread 'therapy' for us folks. ???
your photos are amazing . thanks for sharing. Flame Tree BBQ is the best :thumbsup2

Thank you for posting your great photos and reviews! I know this is sacrilege...but did you notice whether or not Pinnochio's had steak sauce (A1) for a condiment? That's how my family likes to eat cheese-steak...I am thrilled to know we can order one in WDW! Also, were you offered items other than a fruit tart for dessert at Teppan Edo? One more thing, at Flametree, do you remember favoring the key lime dessert over the chocolate cake? Thanks a lot!

A1 on a cheesesteak????:rotfl2: Just kidding, actually I have did not see A1 sauce, I also commit a crime with my cheesesteak I put ketchup on it!

I think the other dessert was ice cream and ginger cake at Teppan Edo.

At Flametree I prefer the chocolate cake, the key lime was very good I am just a chocolate cake fiend.

Hope this helps.
