I have a question about linking reservations

Let's say I use my points and book a week
And BFF uses her points and books a week later
Can those 2 reservations be linked, so we don't have to change rooms?

Yes, MS can link them together to alert the room assigner to treat it as one 2-week reservation and keep you in the same room for the entire stay. Obviously both rooms need to be exactly the same booking category. You cannot link a reservation for a 2BR lockoff with a reservation for a Dedicated 2BR for example.

The names and address and contact information must match exactly, as well. So make sure that you and your BFF make identical reservations. Then it will be easier to link. You may need to set up a conference call to complete the linking. I have done it without the three-way call twice, but one linking I did recently required the three-way call.

How far ahead of the actual reservation time should the linking be done.
If it takes a 3 way call, it will be more difficult because of time differences and work schedules.
Contact info?? Won't we each have our own phones for that, so they wouldn't match?

If you are sharing the villas for the entire stay and you want them linked so that you don't have to change rooms and so that you have just one set of MBs, etc., you must use the same names and address and one phone number. I haven't actually tried linking a reservation that was different in any way from the other reservation, but for example, one owner listed me as Mrs. and one listed me as Ms. and it would not link. I had to have the owner call up MS and change the prefix to match and then had to get them linked.

Yes, time differences and work schedules make it challenging (just did this with another owner so I understand the complexities), but you will need to coordinate schedules for this. I think it took us about a month. We then picked a morning, I called, stayed on hold with MS until they answered, explained the situation, and then conferenced in the other owner who was available that morning. Then it just took about a couple of minutes.

As I mentioned, I have been able to link reservations before without a three-way call. Those were my reservations plus additional nights I had booked through another owner. MS let me link those without a three-way call. But this recent one was for a friend who needed to link another reservation and after two calls to MS, I was told it had to be a three-way. It may depend on which CM you get, but I believe that the reservations must match exactly or it will not work in any case.

Good luck! Oh, it's probably good to link it before your MBs get set up...easier that way, I think.

Hmmmm.....we will both be staying in them for the whole time.
But we each own different contracts, so not sure the same address, phone, etc will work.
Guess we will give it a try and see.....if worse comes to worse, we will just change rooms. Not the end of the world, just a pain to pack and store for awhile.
Thank you for all the help.

I've done it with a DVC friend. One time we had 3 reservations - I booked nights 1 & 2, she booked night 3 (Friday) and I booked night 4. Linked them all together and it was treated as one. Only one of us had to call or e-mail, they could see the info was the same.

When your or your BFF book a villa, you can put any names and contact information that you want for the occupants of the villa. All I am saying is that they really have to match.

So you can have:

Adult 1: You and your information--address, etc.
Adult 2: BFF and that information--address, etc.

It has to match in each reservation, that's all. You can use different contracts, but list the occupants the same exactly.

So one of us has to be responsible for both reservations.....hmmm.....we'll see how that goes over.
