Selling part of my points

So I'm selling one of my small contracts . Kids are grown up, need money for tuition, can't seem to arrange a trip together between jobs and university. Good news is it was posted on the timeshare website this afternoon and I got called with an offer of full asking price at around 7pm. I didn't expect it to go that fast. Maybe when grandchildren come into my life I'll re purchase points again. for now I'll have to just stick with my BWV 100 points, and BCV 50. I can go on a solo trip once a year with those. Still giving Disney all my money!

Makes sense to me, nothing wrong with adjusting your holdings to match your needs.

Glad that you sold quickly!

Who knows what the future brings!
Glad that you were able to sell quickly!

College bills are expensive!!! Hopefully, you will have many fun trips to WDW in the future with grandchildren!

One great thing about DVC. We just sold a couple of our small contracts since we have cut back on our trips to WDW. Actually made a little profit on them. We can always buy more if we decide to go more often.

Me too. I just sold my biggest contract (150 points @ BWV) but kept my 2 small contracts (50 @ WLV & 60 @ VGC) for many of those reasons: not enough time to spend @ Disney, wanted some more $ after buying another house for retirement. But I'm planning a Disney cruise for next year & maybe some time at Aulani. Disney still has my money!!

Congrats on your quick sale!

That is the beauty of DVC, you can sell if you need to and get back into it just as quickly if you want to.

So true. While it might not hold true in the future it's great to be able to sell if you want to. You can't even give most timeshares away but there is still the demand for Disney.

If it helps...

With College kids we found we can go to DW the first week in Jan (college kids get nearly a month off) and just as soon as they get out for the summer in May (before the summer job hits). Jan is really inexpensive so you can really stretch your points.

Congrats....I do have a question though. If you still have points at BMV and BCV are they both your "home" resorts and able to purchase 11 months out for both of them? Thanks all this DVC is new to me.

Yes, you can book at 11 months at each home resort that you own.

Great. So you can use all your points (from both) 11 months out to book at either of those resorts. Or do you have to only use that
home" resort points?

You can't combine points at 11 months from different home resorts. Use BWV points to book BWV and BCV points to book BCV.

At 7 months you can combine your BWV and BCV points to book at any DVC resort.

With banking and borrowing you can book at 11 months longer trips at each resort every other year.

For example, if you have 100 BWV points and 100 BCV points, you cannot combine them to make a 200 points reservation at 11 months.

However, the first year you can borrow 100 BWV from the next UY and use all 200 to book your stay. Then you bank the 100 BCV points.

Next year you have 0 BWV points, but 200 BCV points (100 banked and 100 current), so you can book a 200 points stay at BCV.

Next year you can start over again.

That's my only DVC regret - that I didn't split up my 250 points into 2 contracts, 150 and 100. I would have sold the 100 and bought VGC.
