Oooooh I would buy!

It would be cool if I could get my Disney gift cards placed on the band , I save my shopping $$ that way, to control spending. I have never done a CC on a KTTK card.

I've been working all day and am just getting caught up, and haven't read the entire thread, and this may have been asked/answered - but is the plan to actually mail the MagicBands to people in these amazingly wasteful and large boxes?

It looks to me strictly as a "sample display" - with names to emphasize how each guest would have a different color...I really can't see them sending them in the mail in most cases...maybe for ordered APs. Most of the time you're not going to be able to use them until you get to the resort anyways.

It looks a LOT like one of those "here are your display materials, etc. - and turn the box they came in until your display stand..."

Same thought here...the shipping cost from the box weight/size alone plus the production cost...all has me scratching my head a bit...even if it starts that way...pretty soon I bet they will show up in a nice bubbled wrap envelope .

That's the implication. No idea if that's what will happen.

While the watch idea may be a bit out there (in terms of likeliness to appear in the parks), I can almost guarantee you that you'll be able to put DGC on these wristbands.

Based on the Disney Park Experience Terms & Conditions, it appears as if you will need to carry any cards necessary for validation of discounts.
From the section titled "Converting To Paperless Tickets":

So this bracelet that is supposed to show you are an AP holder for admission purposes can't show the same thing when you go to use it at a store or restaurant? Makes no sense.

I agree...I'm sure there will be some people who don't like it, but I also think some of the nay-sayers will be swayed once it becomes the norm. We don't do change very well on the Dis. I don't think the inconvenience of having the band stored in a bag or on a loop is much different than a card, which needs to be kept in a pocket of some sort.

The bracelet doesn't "show" anything (although rumors of some sort of adornment specific to AP holders exist). It requires to be scanned via RFID reader to determine entitlements. And it may be that they haven't solved the issue on how to tie AP discount entitlements automatically. I think it may be a manual process now as it is...

If this has been covered, just ignore.

They are waterproof

They are very adjustable

They are light weight

If you do not pick a color before your arrive, you get gray by default. I have not heard anything about them being mailed. What I heard was when you do your advance online check in you will be given the option to pick colors. They will be at your resort when you check in.

The personalized ones will be an extra cost

If you don't want a band, you can get a card.

So what would it show for AP entitlements? Unlimited?

Entitlements isn't just park admissions...they can potentially link many things like room door lock, discounts, photopass, purchases, etc

If I have an AP Magic Band and also have to carry my plastic RFID AP to get my merchandise discount or free parking, then I might as well not even have a Magic Band. There would be no point at all. I'm a local, so I wouldn't have a room key, dining plan, etc attached to it. How silly.

I just showed the bands to my ds 10 and he thought the whole idea was pretty cool and wants a green one. We will be there in May and I hope we get to try them out.

Wait until we see how they work in practice. The T&C may receive more updates before any guest touches a magicband

I don't understand how either of those issues would matter.
