I hope they will be able to hold all the Disney related information about us. I carry a room key, DVC card, TIW card, Disney Visa and my AP when I'm at WDW. It would be nice to have all of that info stored in one place. I hope all of the available discounts can be on the band.

Your MagicBands will be used for both resorts. When you go to the second resort, they'll activate the bands to work with your new resort room.

The info is not on the band itself, just like it's not on the mag-stripe ticket media.

I understand that. I was just wondering if all of the info such as TIW discounts and DVC membership will all be accessible so I won't have to carry all those cards.
Also others have mentioned getting a message about rooms being ready. Is there a screen on the band where you can get a message?

There is no screen on the MagicBands. Room ready is via text or voice message.

Based on the Disney Park Experience Terms & Conditions, it appears as if you will need to carry any cards necessary for validation of discounts.
From the section titled "Converting To Paperless Tickets":
Quote:
Once available, you may convert certain paper tickets or passes to a paperless ticket or pass in the Site/App. Once converted, your ticket or pass park admission entitlements are stored in your account and fulfilled by an RF Device. The paper ticket or pass becomes void and is no longer valid for admission. However, you may want to keep your paper ticket or pass in the event you do not receive your RF Device before your visit or if you are a passholder you should keep your paper pass for validation of other passholder benefits.

I'm thinking that this could go a step further for those of us staying on-site. We have the bands, which is now your KTTW in our possession before we leave the house so we could, in theory, get an email or a text the day of our trip that says "Room 123 in building X is ready for you" and bypass the check-in counter altogether. You get off the bus or out of your car and head straight to your room, drop off your stuff and start your trip!

Now I would be on board for this if it actually served this purpose!!!

Question about the batteries in the magic band. I have a terrible time keeping watches running. I can only wear Citizen watches for some reason, no other watch will work after a couple of days on me - I know it's weird, but I also know other people this happens to (my niece is one). Is there a possibility that this would happen with the magic band?

I asked about linking a credit card when I exchanged my paper pass for the card one last night and was told that things like that were still being worked out for AP holders, along with all the FP+ things like how far in advance we can book and if there will be a limit like as has been rumored. If you're a resort guest, you can still add a cc just like you've been able to. He also said something about getting a different band or card when you're a resort guest and how you have to transfer the AP to it, but I sort of cut him off since I'm local and don't need to stay on site.

So far, I'm still thinking these will be hitting the parks sometime next month (perhaps in the later half) but I think it won't be until the Fall when these are mailed home prior to a guest's arrival.

Thanks for the info WED!

Okay, I asked my daughters to look at them and tell me what they thought. (All done with a smile and convincing enthusiasm). They liked the bands themselves but didn't think they would want to wear them the entire trip. They wanted to know if they got tired of wearing them if they could have a ticket instead. I know I could put them (the bands) in a secure place on my person also.

Then, I had visions of my DD6 and her Houdini ways. She has dozens and dozens of hairbands, necklaces, bracelets, rings, etc. She has figured out how to unlatch every safety device I've used (fortunately she has no interest in ingesting medications anyway). I find various trinkets all over the house and they mysteriously appear on her at school or disappear forever. I realized that the odds are high that she would take hers off without any of us (including her) noticing.

I'm actually hoping to either go before they implement the new system or wait a couple of years until the kinks are worked out. For all those adventurous folks ready to give it a go... I salute you!
