HELP! Opinions really needed! Running out of time! UPDATE

....I'm trying to book a last-minute <small> WDW vacay, that's going to be a split stay....2 nights at ASMu and 3 nights at AKL. I seriously contemplated Disney Dining, but, after checking 5 or 6 restaurants online, they were all booked, so I am wondering if I should just forego the Dining Plan and pay O.O.P.....replies please...

Someone please come along and correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you'll be able to do the dining plan anyway because of your split stay. I believe you have to have a room & ticket package (4 days at least I think??? Could be wrong on the # of days). When you start over at the new resort, you'll have a new reservation #. Each resort stay will be treated separately.

....yes, you are correct. I'd check out of ASMu early Sun morning and stay at AKL till Wed morning, but I'd purchase a 4-day pass even though I won't be using that 4th day, since it's cheaper...

I personally don't find the DDP to be much of a value. Since you can't get ADRs at your favorites, I would just pay OOP.

If she does the DDP on the AKL reservation, she can pick her tickets up to 3 days in advance and use them on her All Stars stay. See "15I. Getting Park Tickets Before Package Start Date" here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1452684 .

*gasp* A CM told you the wrong information .

You can also upgrade your tickets once you're there so if you can't change your ticket length now you can pick them up early and upgrade them to the length you want once you use them at least once. The tickets WON'T be on your KTTW card, but that shouldn't be a big deal. We have APs and it's not a problem carrying passes separately. Just take a photo of the ticket number/code on the back in case you lose them.

Yikes! That's scary!

FWIW - I always run the costs with and w/o dining plan and it never works out for us. We always pay and use discounts of AP or TIW etc.

I use to swear by dining plan but we never use it anymore. I'd pay oop even of you do get the reservations you want. Sometimes I just get app and dessert. Sometimes just entree... Sometimes app and side. And I don't like worrying about getting my money back...

...do you think $100/day is a reasonable budget allotment for food?

I said go OOP. Our family of 5 used the DDP when it was Free Dining (always the best deal for us, at that time). However, the plans have changed significantly since then, and I'm not sure they such a great deal anymore when you have to pay for them. I think it's become more of a convenience thing for people who like to have everything paid for in advance.
