ADR Question
I made ADRs for 6 for the entire week. The 6th now decides to tell us he isn't sure whether he'll be staying the entire week or not. I know it is a problem if you show up to an ADR with more people than what is on your reservation. Could there be a problem with showing up to ADRs with one less person than you reserved?

Not a problem. Just tell them there are only 5 of you and you'll be fine
. Just as long as you show up they will not charge you a fee.

In your case, it won't be a problem. As a party of 5, they would be seating you at a 6-top table anyway. So there will be no issue. It is a common practice when making reservations for an odd numbered party to add one in order to get better availability. A couple of weeks ago when my parents came to visit, I made a couple of our ressies for 4 instead of 3 because more times showed up that way. We just told the host or hostess when checking in that there would only be 3 of us.

going from 6 to 5 is not that bad. they still have to hold the same size table for you.
where they can get upset is if you go from 6 to 4. generally tables seat 4. to have seating for 6, they actually are reserving 8 seats. now all the sudden, if you go from 6 - 4 they have a completly unsold table. most place are busy enough they can fill the extra table no problem. but it is possible they may want to recoup some of that lost revenue.

As the PPs have noted, 99% of the time this won't be a problem. But if you have paid in advance for a meal (CRT, F. dining package, dinner show) you will want to cancel with enough advance time so you can get a refund.

During our 2010 trip I had to show up to several ADRs (mostly character meals) with only 3 out of 9 that the ressie was for. DHs family bailed on us a LOT that trip. But it was never a problem- the hostess didn't even seem phased by it each time. The only ones I'm unsure of are pre-paid ADRs like CRT- you might have a problem getting $$ back there.
