Cell phone vent!
Why do you come to a Disney park (or any other park, for that matter) and spend the entire time with your face glued to a cell phone?? We saw this ALL DAY! And on almost every single ride. What is wrong with people? Look up! Enjoy why you're here.

I agree! Our phones go in the backpack and stay there for the majority of the day. We check them occasionally to make sure there are no emergencies. People I know complain that I am not posting enough pics to Facebook while I am in the park...hello! Too busy having fun!

I did it on IASW. Sorry, couldn't help it.
Other than that I can't see using my phone on rides. Other times...wait time apps. But in general, people do have their phones out too much in society. |

Agreed...mostly.
We use them to text each other when we've gotten separated, to take pictures, and to check wait times. Otherwise, they're put away.

We use them for wait times, to take pictures or text each other when separated. But, we certainly are not glued to them. Way too much to look at for that!

Wait--I have an even worse story. This past weekend while waiting for Soundsational to being, I saw a mom pushing 2 toddlers (looked like fraternal twins who were maybe 2 or 3?) in a double stroller, each with their own iPad, down Main Street. You are at DISNEYLAND! Why do you need to bring 2 iPads for your toddlers?!?!?

LOL, well I use mine to take all my pictures while there, and then it only takes 2 seconds with my iphone to select a group of pictures and upload them to facebook. I did this while standing in lines. It takes literally less than a minute. But other than that, unless I'm texting my DEAR hubby trying to find out where he is/why he's not where he's supposed to be...or taking a picture, it's away.

OK, a different point of view here. I run a large family business. Because of cell phones, I can take 3 and 4 day weekends as long as I can work from my phone. I need to be available to my various supervisors, to my import/export attorneys, and to various brokers. Yes, last Friday I was in the park, and I was dealing with a payroll issue coming off Soarin', then I also dealt with a broker who needed to shift product in Spain while I was having lunch at BTMRR. But because I can do this on my cell while at Disneyland, I wasn't sitting back at the office 6 hours north, and could enjoy a long weekend with my daughter. I will take a 3-4 day weekend every 6 weeks at Disneyland where I need to spend a couple hours on the weekdays, than miss those trips.
Everyone's needs/choices are different. For me, I'd rather be at Disneyland for 2-3 days, knowing I will spend maybe 2 hours on the phone, than sitting home with no days in Disneyland. |

Malcon10t - Your situation is pretty rare. Maybe 1%, probably less, are using their phone for essential business purposes in the park. The vast majority with their eyes fixed on their personal electronic device are using it for social purposes, including taking pictures and sending them to friends. For the most part, it's pretty easy to tell who is on a serious call, who is taking pictures, and who is texting, tweeting, facebooking. There's a lot of the later everywhere you go these days.

I do understand that, sometimes, of course cell phone use is unavoidable. Here is the one that got me-while riding Haunted Mansion, the person in the adjacent car was on her phone the entire time. When the cars were in the side-by-side position, the light from the phone was really annoying. I looked over and she was playing a game!! This was a grown up. Go sit on a bench and wait if you must play a game DURING a ride. Had a similar experience on The Little Mermaid.
