your DVC resort contract expires later than other resorts? Are you unable to use your points at those resorts whose contract is up? For example, you have SSR points and it is the year 2044, will you be able to use those points at BWV whose contract expired in 2042?

None knows yet.
2042 resorts might be demolished or just rehabbed and resold. If they are resold into the club, you'll probably be able to use your SSR points at the new BWV.
At the moment we can only try to guess.

It's possible that BWV might not even exist in 2043. It might be torn down. A new timeshare might be built there in a new timeshare. Owners might be offered the possibility of extending their ownership like they did with OKW.

Thanks for your answers. We put an offer in for an OKW contract, but forgot to ask if it was an extended contract. We just thought that all OKW contracts were extended because the website we found the contract on, led us to believe such. However, after checking on disboards, this is not true. But We haven't heard back on our offer yet. So if it is turned down and is not an extended contract, we plan to put an offer in for a SSR contract. And wanted to know what happens after 2042.

I am familiar with the contract you placed a bid on, it is not an extended contract. If you look at the list, you will see that the extended contracts come at the end and are clearly labeled as such.

As far as the offer being turned down, I wouldn't worry about it. You offered full asking price. Plus, I offered on that contract and know what the seller countered at. You'll be fine. Good luck with ROFR.

Oh ok so we are new at this and misunderstood. We thought when the website said expire in 2042, extended in 2057, that meant all of them lol. Oh well it is what it is. We are only 32 and 31, so we kind of wanted the DVC for longer. But maybe in 29 years, we will only want to go on cruises. And then again it might not pass ROFR so then we could look at SSR. Thanks for your help. I cannot believe I didn't notice that until you pointed it out lol.

Btw, What did they counter off you? We offered the asking price but asked them to pay 2013 maintenance fees and we would pay the closing fees. So they might turn it down.

While resorts could be extended, I think you should assume 2 things when the resorts expire. That those resorts will no longer be accessible after they expire (likely not even the last couple of years) and that it's likely that the management fees will have to go up as a majority of the resorts expire if there aren't sufficient new ones to replace them. OKW will be the interesting one given it's mix of extended and not.

We recognize the name of the poster and were involved in discussing options with her while she was looking. She was forthcoming with the resort she placed a purchase offer on and the points. Anyone could look at the resale pages and see what she was placing a bid on. In the case of ELMC, he knew even more because he bid on it himself (as he said in this thread).

First, DisneyFansinLI, if you don't want the property, you should be able to just withdraw the offer. Don't buy something you don't want! Even after you sign the documents, you'll have a period to cancel, so you might as well cancel early if that's better for you.

Second, I realized that Boardwalk fans can be pretty certain their beloved resort will be around at least until DVC expires!

As for trading, it is possible resorts will be removed from the club as they expire, and may/may not be re-introduced afterwards. To be safe, you should realize you only have access to your home resort, and it is possible (though not likely) any of the resorts could be removed from the club and thus cut off from trading into the others. Just sayin'
