I've asked in the past about it at Michaels and was told by the scrpbook lady that also does smash that it was the same principal as crop night but for smash books.

I have a smash book, but also have been at a kind of standstill about what to do with it. I found this video at Above Rubies Studio about how she uses her smash book (don't know if anyone follows her, but she does a lot of good videos ... one every week).
