Has anyone priced out the discount for tix with the new promo vs. buying seperate with undercover tourist.
We are staying at POR for 5 nights and nights at BWI. We either want 7 day base tix or park hopper for 2 kids and 2 adults. Will it be cheaper to book room only and get tix with undercover tourist or add tix to our hotel with the Visa discount? Any help is appreciated! |

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3033203 It looks like they are pre-tax prices (tax is 6.5%). Multiply the price of the ticket you want by 1.065 and compare it to the UT price to see which is a better deal.

I looked at that too and decided to buy from UT and book room only with the spring discount. We have to buy all adult tickets now so my numbers will be a little different from yours. But what I found was that 6 day park hoppers were virtually the same price whether I got them from UT or booked them with the new discount. The 7 day park hoppers were about $70 more from UT. But we figure it's worth that much to be able to stick with a room only ressie cause the cancellation policy is more lenient than with a package.

In any event, I have priced the tickets against Undercover Tourist and with Disney's package, the tickets are a little less (for the 4 of us, about $60 less with our particular tickets), BUT I'm have the dilemma of deciding if it's worth it to have the restrictions of a package for that $60 -- or just book room only. The only plus side (other than saving $60) is having some minor perks (i.e., the vouchers -- that may or may not get used). |

Copying/pasting this from a post I saw on another thread on here:
I think this is the explanation re: the ticket prices -- a 10% discount after taxes. At any rate, depending upon your ticket type, the Disney ones will probably wind up costing slightly less than the UT ones, but you will have to be locked into a "package". |

What are the restrictions for a package vs. room only?

The package will have to be paid in full 45 days before your check in date. Any changes or cancellations after that 45 day mark will incur a fee. I believe cancellation would mean losing the full amount of your deposit. I haven't booked a package in awhile so someone correct me if I'm wrong.
With a room only reservation, you just pay for the first night as your deposit and you can cancel up to 5 days before check-in and still get your deposit back. Another aspect of the packages that we don't care for - if we had to cut our trip short for some reason, I don't believe we would receive a refund for the unused nights at the resort. We have actually had this happen on two previous trips and, since we had booked room only, Disney refunded the money for the hotel nights we paid for at check-in but did not use. As far as I know, this is still their policy. |

Here's what I priced out for 7 day hoppers + water options (3 adults + 1 child):
WDW's discount: $1423.50 UT : $1485.80 Passport Corporate (through dh's work): $1462.35 So, the tickets are close to the same amount. Just like everyone else, I booked a room only so I'm not stuck in a package. I haven't purchased park tix through the Passport website before, so I'm not sure if I'll order from them or UT. We haven't gotten park hoppers since they started the MYW tickets back in Jan 2006. I may end up changing my mind and just get the base tix to save some money. |
