For me personally, I don't think they are bad, I just know discounts are less likely while they are there.

From what I have heard, they don't cause much of an issue in the park, it's the resorts they stay at that have an issue. I've never experienced the issues personally, but from what I have read on here, not all of the parents are "engaged", so the kids become a little out of control.

We are tentatively going with Dec 25-Jan 4. We are in the process of selling our place for a bigger house, so there is a lot of wiggle room for dates. But for the first time in 5 years, we didn't go to DW this past year. HARD! We discussed how cool it'd be to surprise the kids with a trip on Christmas Eve, and take off Christmas day, and staying through the new year. Of course, cost of flights and deals with DW have a lot to do with this, but if everything pans out, with starting to look at flights this soon in advance, fingers crossed everything works out!

Last year, I stalked the airfare and found that flying on Christmas Day was really reasonable. And with you coming back on 1/4, you should be in good shape. Do you realize, though, that this is the busiest week of the year at WDW and the hotel prices will be the highest of the year as well?

Yeah, currently I'm in the campground though. I'm rethinking that idea. I'm just not sure where I want to change to. Well, no. I definitely know where I WANT to stay, Just without a room discount I'm not sure if I can afford it/it's worth it. So I keep looking through numbers and options and I think I've probably driven my AAA agent insane.

But it's lay me going and it's my only trip this year (not counting the trip to DC a few weeks ago) - and I want to make the most of it.

I feel as though I have a plan for every letter of the alphabet at this point! I have an excel spreadsheet full of ideas. I'm definitely doing something Disney related between 12/07 and 12/21...

That is how I was when my wife and I went in Dec 2011. This was her first time to WDW. I was scheduling out everything. I was trying to get feedback from my wife on dinner reservations and she was like...I don't know when I will be hungry or what type of food I would want. So this trip I decided not to plan anything. We are just going to wing it. Good luck to you. I am sure it will all work out in the end. Have a great trip!

lol... it's just me going, you'd think I could make up my mind!

I *should* just stick to camping. It's the most economical choice. Just I got to thinking spending that much to share a bathroom and sleep on an air mattress for two weeks (and I do loveee Fort Wilderness), plus driving down in my SUV from Michigan - room service, a private shower (and possibly a bathtub) and a real bed just started to sound really nice.

So now I'm thinking of adding a cruise in the mix to get away from the Pop Warner gang.

I've gone insane!
