Daniel: Daniel shrugged modestly. 'Yeah, I can play." He lit up when River said she'd like to hear him play. "Really? Then I'll go get it. I'll be right back." He hugged her quickly, and bounded out of the room. He headed to the dorm and found the case in his suitcase that held his acoustic guitar.

Max: "Hey," Max murmured. The last time she'd been to the library today, she'd learned what punishment her father had chosen. But she didn't look overly sad. Max had accepted the punishment. It might be slightly cruel, but it was the way things were, and Max wasn't going to dispute her father's claims that other families did punishment like that too, because Max believed they did. Instead, Max looked very solemn, and just a tiny bit sad.

Daniel: Daniel grabbed the case straps and went back to the library. He went over to where River and Max were sitting. He smiled, drew over a chair, sat down, and opened the case. He pulled out a shiny acoustic guitar. He quickly checked the tuning. "I can play a few songs." He thought about what song he'd like to play. He decided on one and said, "One of my favorites to play is called Time of Your Life by a band called Green Day. I like it because it's mostly acoustics and voice, so when I play it sounds similar to the real thing." He warmed up his figers and then started to play. He sang the lyrics when the voice came in on the real song.

"Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test, and don't ask why
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.

Daniel was clearly enjoying playing the song, and his voice sang clear, his voice hinting at his recover from his accident moments before.

River: River listened silently to Daniel's song, not only was he great at playing the guitar but he voice was amazing. Daniel was so great why would he choose to have her for a friend se couldn't help but wonder. After he finish River jumped from her seat "Daniel that was great!" she said wrapping her arms around him.

I don't have a whole lot of talent and I've got no connections. But I still like to play, and I'm getting better at singing." Daniel: Daniel strummed out the final notes of the song and sat back, looking thoughtful. There was one song that he liked, it was mostly acoustic lake Time of Your Life, but by a different band. The problem was, it was a love song. And Daniel didn't think of River or anypone else in that way, just friends, but some people would't believe him.
