I stuck to my budget today!! Shopped off my list and was 25 under at Walmart!
![]() I paid off DsS21's tuition for the year today!!! So we are free of that... Next payment will be a lump sum in august and his college tuition is DONE forever!!!! ![]() I am 1 payment away from paying off a credit card today!!! Next month I can kiss that payment good-bye!! I also got our vehicle plates/registrations renewed.. now I just need for them to arrive in mail so that I can get DD's mailed to her before they expire.. I already mailed her the receipt to carry in her car. I'm spending NOTHING tomorrow!! 10.00 on Sunday for soda it's 4/$10.. I have a dollar off coupon... so techincally 9.00 and tax... so round it to 10.. that should last us til next pay check or longer since we are drinking very little soda now!!! |

Congrats Nan! I am so far off from paying off college tuition...but I look at it as an investment so I am really okay with the monthly payment and am putting extra toward it every month. We have been really good the last 2 weeks and have not eaten out at all! This is a major goal of mine to work toward very limited take-out not only for my budget but for healthier eating also. I am trying to get DH and the the kids involved in helping me make menus that we can stick to, it has helped and they are also volunteering to help with the cooking! DH and I are planning our first date night. We hope to have dinner and watch a movie. He is thinking "Ted" since he wants to see it and hasn't had a chance to watch it yet, I will agree as long as I get to pick dinner menu.

January 2013 No Buy
Goal: 15 $0 Days 1: $48.62 Groceries, lunch in MSP airport 2: $0 3: $46.00 McDonald's , Lowes, Ross 4: $67.63 Walmart (Groceries & "misc" )5: $0 6: $18.18 Groceries 7: $0 8: $0 9: $0 10: $7.85 Shirt for work (required), school lunch milk 11: $2.25 snoball 12: $124.98 Popeyes, sneakers, shirts, phone, Gas ($22.07 - $3.05/gal) 13: $49.38 Winn-Dixie (groceries) 14: $4.60 McDonald's 15: $50.22 Walmart (groceries, misc.) 16: $0 17: $0 18: $0 19: $0 Total: $419.71 $0 Days: 9 I also spent $77.16 on Monday 1/14 on a doctor copay and prescriptions for the bronchitis and sinusitis that I have. I do not include health spending in my No Buy Challenge because I consider it to be something necessary and not discretionary. (Although I do include groceries and gas in this, which is somewhat contradictory, but I digress...) I went to the doctor after work and it was already 7pm by the time I left the pharmacy, so I ended up swinging through McDonald's. You'll notice I did include the McDonald's; that was discretionary spending that I could have avoided had I just warmed soup at home. ![]() Quote:
I don't use many embellishments and stuff to begin with; when I do scrapbook, they are not too fancy. I think I have enough supplies to last a while, but some things like pens and glue may need to be replaced if they've dried/run out. And I definitely agree about the importance of good, quality shoes. I went to about five shoe stores before I found a sneaker that was comfortable and I felt would not rub my foot the wrong way. The crazy thing is that I haven't worn them yet because it was raining so much earlier in the week and I didn't want to get them muddy on the first wear!

So far so good. Did get gas today $49 to fill up. Not too bad. Dbf is grabbing subs for dinner. Only.second dinner out this month!
Have to run to target tonight and get diapers. Ds is out! Maybe we can find him some real underwear too. He's loving the potty! |

I am doing good with my no buy goals. I haven't bought any clutter, have only bought fill-in groceries or replaced staples. We have only eaten dinner out 1 night per week, which is driving my DS insane. There is lots of eating out among his friends so he is feeling deprived while DH thinks he's eating like a king!
1/20-$0 1/21- $0.63 tax for DS purchase 1/22-$0 1/23-$7 lunch after kids gym, $18 fill in groceries 1/24-$15 lunch with GF, $10 bread outlet (2 packages cookies, 3 loaves bread, 1 package bagels, 2 breakfast danish) 1/25- 1/26- |

I have tanked my no buy month, especially with the last minute trip to DC.
Today I needed to get the car to the dealership for maintenance to the tune of $400+. ERGH!! I hope to kick it into high gear for February.

Totally blowing the budget today. Between meds, boys going camping and buying dinner at the benefit dinner tonight.....I'm way over my goal.
