He works very close to WDW. It's closer for him to drive to and from work than to and from home.

Disney.com's new look
Have you tried to use Disney's website lately? The look has changed. Where things are has changed too. It took me a rediculously long time to make 6 ADRs today. I already had my ADRs for the 1st weekend, now all my ADRs are made. I decided to stay at DHS. We'll eat one counter service and one table service at DHS during SWW. I rotated meals, some ADRs are for dinner and some are for lunch. I kept the ADRs between the same three restaurants though, 50's PTC, Sci-Fi, and MM. We have never eaten at MM. I will need to check out a menu and decide if we like the menu or not. It was a big pain to try to find the menu from Disney's site. It took me out of the screen where I'd pick the time and into another screen that told me about the restaurant. Then I could click on a menu link. The menu would pull up and I'd have to back out, and the times that showed up were different than what showed before. I hope it becomes more user friendly and easier to use. Where would you grab breakfast on the go at DHS? We do not like the Egg and Cheese muffin at Fairfax Fare. Anakin needs to limit his gluten and sugar intake. (Too much gluten causes him to have myoclonic twitches and too much sugar causes him to have seizures.) I cannot eat chocolate. Grumpy has to stay away from soy and nuts. But Goofy has no dietary restrictions. Last year I brought grapes and bananas for Anakin to snack on to hold him over until lunch time. |

Glad you're here! Between photobucket going beta on me and Disney's new site...ugh! I was able to switch out of beta for photobucket! Too bad Disney's doesn't give that option, lol. The weekend before SWW, dh has off. I'm sure we will be over that way at some point. If you are game for an impromptu, last minute kind of thing I'm sure we can work it out. Also, Monday is typically our park day after JJ's acting class, so maybe a Monday would work out? |

Happy New Year!!
It's resolution time again. We have set goals for ourselves to accomplish before SWW. Mine: Lose weight and tone. I look at picture from the last couple years and ugh! I have lost some weight on WW. I've gone from a size 14 to a size 10. My goal for SWW is to get serious and start toning and get into a size 8 or smaller. DH's: He lost 20 pounds since last year's SWW. He would like to continue to lose weight. His goal is to get into the 501st before SWW and be able to march in the motorcade parade. He wants to add a storm trooper costume to his costume collection. DS Grumpy: He hopes to be in Disney's Culinary Program by SWW. He too has been losing weight. Grades are top priority for him to keep his scholarship. He hopes to be able to pay for college as he goes so that he comes out debt free at the end. Of course, we are helping him but we had it all tied up in one place and when the market took a downslide years ago his college savings took a major nose dive. The Piggy Bank Adventure at Innovations should have been around then. We really learned not to keep all eggs in one basket. DS Anakin: He has one goal. To be able to read fluently by SWW. He would love to get picked as a volunteer for Behind the Force. He had to keep his hand down and it broke his heart to do so, because he couldn't read last year. He had a seizure that caused major regression and he lost his ability to read. With the help of a reading specialist from my Bible study, we started all over again with the alphabet and he is now reading simple sentences! He wants to continue improving with his reading and hopefully there will be no more set-backs! He did get to make a wookie noise for everyone at Behind the Force last year. ![]() |

I've been on the WDW website several times over the last few days - and I can honestly say that I hate it, it's very hard to navigate, and I hate that there is no option to add the non-expiration option to tickets anymore.
For our next trip, we are planning to add the WPF&M options to our tickets, but we'd have 5 or 6 uses left - so I would really like to add no expiration... Grrr...As for breakfast... DHS is one of the parks that we always do the first available lunch slot at 50's PT... Which is (I think) 11am... So, we usually just do a really light breakfast that morning - that is usually the Quaker oatmeal pastries that I pack in our luggage from home. It's not the best breakfast, but it usually tides us over. I am pretty sure, because of the dietary restrictions in your family, that you probably can't do those - so I think your idea of bringing fruit or some other acceptable food item is a good one. Love the picture of Ani! D~

I'm so sorry that I'm just now getting here. But, I'm here now and all caught up. Our travel dates will overlapse but, when I worked up our schedule, I didn't include any SWW days. I may try to change that though.
Your New Year's goals sound like they are all well within reach. Grumpy seems like a wonderful young man with a good head on his shoulders. I sure hope that he gets into the culinary program at Disney. Anakin is such a sweetheart! I'm happy to see that his reading skills are returning. That's amazing!

The water parks will be fun for the girls! I tried to get some early ADRS, but if they keep show times at the same time, it will interfere with one of the shows we like. On other days, I made ADRs during the SWW motorcade time. SWW is the only time of year we spend most of the day at the park. Typically a park day for us is 2 or 3 hours. That's why I'd like to stay on property so I can take JJ back to the room if he needs to, it would take too long to drive back home and back to dhs again. But $116/night on weekends will get pricey to do that at a value. I'm spoiled from paying $77/night this fall. But I still remember the days we paid $45 for a value and $74 for a mod. Thanks! Quote:
So glad you are here now! I hope that we can meet up for a bit. You really do need to include a SWW day ![]() I just realized that this is the first Christmas in years that Grumpy didn't get any Grumpy merchandise. He got an electric smoker as a kind of combined birthday/Christmas present. DH left the house at 3am to get it on black Friday. Anakin finished reading all his K-4 readers and we are working on the k-5 ones. So we've got a way to go. It surprises me that he is able to do his 2nd grade phonics and language workbooks. He has a very good grasp of phonics and their rules. He is able to mark all the special sounds and vowels on paper, but he has a very hard time doing it in his head. He reads very well if he marks the words first. Math, he blows me away. He is doing 3 digit adding and subtracting, and borrowing and carrying over. He's telling time, and doing great with measurements. |
