About Sunscreen: I usually pick up a new tube in the sample isle at the grocery and toss that into my 3-1-1 pack. Most of the time they have the Sport style available in the samples isle and I like to make sure I'm using a product that I know is recent, rather then a giant tube that I don't even remember when I bought it was
Even on my regular trips to Florida, I keep a new tube in my camera case all the time!I heard someone this year state that they forgot their laptop charger. The kicker was that they had only brought the USB cable to charge their watch and not the wall adapter! So maybe people might want to bring the actual wall charger and not just the USB cable itself!

It allows for computers, camera, usb cords to use one plug rather than hunting around the room for all locations or worse, unplugging a light so that you have enough power. I actually purchase a travel size sunscreen, also. I usually do not repack it for the trip home, thinking that by the time I need it again, it will be rather old. I used to rely on Disney to have the sunscreen, but one year the style I wanted was not on property.

Did I miss duct tape for the tops of shoes? Is that just for cold weather or is it good for rainy weather, too?

In my book a cold weather tool, not much a wet weather tool. Most running shoes are so well ventilated that you would need lots of tape and still find leaks. It would be better to over lube the feet and avoid running in puddles. Though, if raining significantly pre-race, it may slow down some of the rain from above. In either case, the tape should be pulled off as the race starts to keep the feet from overheating and creating their own source of internal puddles.

Came back to check this list as I'm starting to pack today!! I don't have anything else to add, but thanks for posting it in the first place. I almost forgot the Body Glide.

One more thing to add to the list: don't forget to delete all the previous history from your Garmin before you head to Disney. You don't want to be halfway through your race and have it stop recording because it's full.

Wow I have never had this problem- although I don't wear my garmin on every run (never for a half because the HRM strap causes major issues with rubbing) I haven't downloaded info in forever. (when I go it we had such bad dial up it wouldn't do it and I never got in the habit.) Guess I should look all that up now that I have a laptop and 4G. Thanks for the reminder.

I am sure I could, but can you buy salt pack or pills at the convention? To be frank I have never experienced leg cramping but the person I am running with does quite often. It got me thinking that since this will be my first Goofy, first full...I want to have it just in case...
Or can I buy it at a CVS type place? I have never given it too much thought until this. |

Most folks do not need any additional supplementation above and beyond the electrolytes received through sport drink and fuel. If you do find a white residue on you running shorts after they dry, then you may want to consider a Buffered Electrolyte supplement. Head to your local runner store and pick it up there instead of the expo. If you think you may want to try, then get them today and use them during your run this weekend. Even though buffered, they may still create an issue on race day if taken for the first time.
You do not want to try table or sea salt without the buffer. That is a quick way to GI or other issues that can crush your day.

I MAY be speaking out of turn because I have not looked at the manual for a while. I know with my 305 and 301(I think the number) I had to clear memory going into a race to assure the unit did not lock up when the history register filled. I am of the thought that the 610 does not need to be cleared; rather, it overwrites the oldest data in the register. That prevents the dreaded lock up mid run. Again, I may be mistaken but I do not remember ever dumping history on the 610

While I'm sure my experience is far from the norm, I'd suggest a wipe on it anyways. God knows if mine crashes and I lost the full marathon on it, I'm gonna be a bit mad. |
