Yes, it was! I almost snorted my morning coffee out my nose reading this. Well done. You may now return to your regularly scheduled dream.
AFM, I'm in a very negative place right now about the race. Cutting the planned 20 miler was one thing, due to a totally unexpected flare of ITB, and the nagging quad strain I have won't go away. Add that to the daily drama that is my foot (which part will hurt today?!) and I am just feeling old and worn out. I am not psyched to run. I know this is all really, stupidly minor compared to others on this board, and in the grand scheme of things. But irrational things don't follow logic! Maura |

Though seriously, think about where you have come from and where you are today. While not where you want to be, you are so close to being good to go. Many would have just thrown in the towel when the doc carried the boot out.

Before time slips away and everyone is headed off to Orlando, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank Coach Charles and everyone else who has offered advice and encouragement preparing for the race.
I don't post much but read often and am thankful for the advice/suggestions from running veterans on here. |

Wow, you have an awesome dream memory!! This made me laugh so hard this morning--esp having to describe the "Malaysian River differences." I would have been sunk
![]() I have 5 easy miles today but I think I will wait it out a bit--got some Florida chill in the air this morning. Have a great day everyone!

While nowhere near as funny as steph0808's dream, I too had my first Marathon Weekend dream last night...
First part of the dream - the Goofy Challenge was not spread out over 2 days, it was all in the same day. So Goofy runners had to run the half and then join the full marathoners already on the course in the Magic Kingdom (Mile 5) and then make up the other 5 miles at some other point on the course. So my dream picked right up at joining the full marathoners, and I was all set to get on the course...but I forgot my camera (unacceptable!). So I went back to get that...but I forgot to put on sunscreen. This is no good because I am super pale, so I needed to go back and get that. I finally started to run...but I wasn't wearing my shoes! So I got those...but then I came to the portion of the marathon that apparently involved jumping off of a 20-story building! Then my dream self seemed to realize that this was all totally ridiculous and started to shout "WAKE UP!!" So I did. Weird. Why can't I have dreams where I, like, WIN the marathon?

Planning on wearing it is probably not a good idea (outside of a race fashion feaux pas) because it may not fit how you expect and the weather may not allow it (colder or warmer than predicted). My advice, your last long run (probably this weekend) should be a full dress rehearsal of what you plan to do on race day...from how long before your run you wake up and eat, to what you wear on your feet to your head, just done a shorter distance and probably a slower pace. Not saying uo have to start your tun at 5:35, but if you need to wake up at 3 am and eat, and will be running at 6 am...I advise practicing that. Wake up 3 hours before your long run.

I hope you don't feel like you're getting picked on, but I have to agree with everyone else...I personally would not wear the shirt. For me it's sort of a superstition thing (I never wear race shirts during races, period...I just don't), but it also has to do with what everyone else is saying - nothing new on race day. If this year's shirts are like the 2012 shirts, they'll be long-sleeved with material that is, in my opinion, kind of heavier compared to other tech shirts. That might be too warm for the race. ETA: Also wanted to add that there was no way I was wearing my shirt for the race because I wanted to wear it around the parks afterward! ![]() For the 2011 Princess Half I wore what I thought were my trusty running shorts and ended up with pretty bad chafing. They'd been fine for shorter runs but I don't think I'd ever worn them for a run longer than 3-4 miles. They just weren't cut out for a half...you just never know. Check out TJ Maxx, if you have one in your area. They have pretty decent deals on moisture-wicking clothes...ditto for Target (though TJ Maxx has a better selection, in my opinion). And whatever you do decide, make sure to test it out first!

Okay....we're getting closer and closer to race day and I always find myself scouring the internet for motivational videos, stories, etc.
Well, a couple of years ago I started making photo videos after I did my first Ironman. Two months after my race, she was to do her first marathon in the same place I did my first.....Walt Disney World. I decided to not race Disney that year and let her have her day in the sun. She had been there for so many of my races. The early morning wake ups, the drives, morning after morning with our newborn while I was out Ironman training, she was such an unbelievable support system and truly embodied the team aspect of an "individual" sport. She was never an athlete growing up...I mean she was on the swim team (we were on the team together as kids and never knew each other finding out years after we were married from an old photo), but more of the girly girl dancing and cheerleading, so for her to start running, doing duathlons and triathlons was a complete shock to me. I had my doubts at first, but her perseverance came through like I have never seen. She hit alot of obstacles in her path to race day, but she never let it her veer her from her goal. Since this marathon she has had three knee surgeries and will likely never be able to run again (maybe a couple miles here and there, but it's just not worth it to her for the pain it causes) so I put together this video from her race back in January of 2010. I thought over the next couple days/weeks till we all depart, I would post some other videos I have made (some from Ironman) just as a way to to take our minds off of things, see how fun all this stuff can be, what life is like for other runners our there and maybe even find a little motivation. I hope you all enjoy and to my beautiful courageous wife (the lurker who will definitely see this post but never comment), you still amaze me every day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Mi8qNfs-9A

PRmamiDEdos I'm glad you didn't try to get your DH to wear that in the parks! Although, he does look great in purple!!Accuweather now shows variable cloudy with showers on both race days. Temp 73 & 74. So that's a step up from steady rain. Praying for just cloudy/sun.
