Definitely you will get your Full medal. In theory you would not get the Goofy. I can tell you that last year there was no verification of running the half - at least as I went through the tent area. I would be interested in hearing if anyone else observed this in the past.

Though, I do find the original question a little odd. Are you running or pacing a friend/spouse? It's the full that most folks worry about finishing.

I finished my long run too. Am thrilled. I only did 16.7 miles today and did 8 yesterday. Hoping I did not do too much since I have not run in 7 weeks due to a stress fracture. I did some running, then a walk/run interval, and finally just some walking. My foot feels good but my back is sore and my left hamstring. Can't wait to foam roll.

Congratulations and good luck to all.

Finished!

I completed 8 miles today--my longest for this training so far! Went pretty well--we'll see how I feel tomorrow.

I just wrote a recap blog "Anatomy of a Long Run" on my blog--it's very tongue in cheek but I'm sure anyone who's long-running can relate. Enjoy!

Great job on the runs everyone--you Goofy's are earning your name for sure--I can't even fathom an 11/22 in one weekend. Wow!

I did my 20 mile run yesterday, and my legs are definitely talking to me today. SO glad it's time to taper!

Got my 20 in this morning. Cold here but the trail was clear except for the bridges which had snow and some ice so i just walked across each one. Really paranoid about slipping and getting hurt this close to the big day.

Yay Taper!

All of you extremely cold weather people make me feel incredibly lucky to live in Georgia! I'll try not to whine about the 40 degrees temps anymore! 20 done Thursday, and now for the best part of training- TAPER TIME! :-) Woot! Woot!

20 mile long run is history! I woke up to frost and 33 degrees! A tad cold for this Florida girl but I'll take cold over hot for a run any day. I'm slow - it took me just over 4 1/2 hours but that's still comfortably under sweeper pace. I'm achy but SO happy that the big 20 that's been looming on my calendar forever is finally crossed out!

Congrats to everyone on making it to the taper! Happy Holidays!!!

So, what's the chance of the predicted rain moving out of the forecast by race day? I have been looking at accuweather and it shows rain both Saturday and Sunday. How do they even predict rain 3 weeks out???

Wow! A lot of accomplishments this weekend. Congrats everyone!

I was in "OK" health, but at 5'10", 225 or so, nobody would confuse me for a runner! I stuck to the training as best I could, but missed some time with the holidays. My longest run leading up to the race was 20 miles, and it about killed me.

I went to Florida alone- no family or friends. This race was to prove to myself that I was tough enough mentally to make it. The night before the race, I ate a couple of pieces of pizza. Race morning I got up at 3 after sleeping maybe 5 hours and got ready. I remember so vividly sitting on that bus at 3:20 thinking "what in the hell am I doing?!?!" When I got to the warm up area I had no idea what to do. I stretched a little, milled around, then after an eternity, we were released to the corrals. Again, I found myself wondering how I got into this mess! I was petrified that I would not finish, that I would have to call my wife and tell her that I couldn't finish.

Then the race started, and the first mile was BRUTAL. Soon enough, I settled in and made it though the first half ahead of pace. I felt great up to mile 16-18 or so. Then the wheels fell off. My horrible dinner the night before wasn't enough to fuel me, and I didn't eat right during the race either. I started really fading around mile 22.

But you know what? I made it. I made practically every mistake a rookie runner could make, and I still got through it! And you know what else?? YOU WILL TOO!!!! In the next couple of weeks, even during the race, you. WILL have doubts. Don't give in. You've worked hard, and you can do it. Draw strength from all the other Disnuts around you and run through that finish line!!!

See y'all real soon!
Thank you for this..I needed it

I'm sure the other Floridians will back me up on this one...Florida weather this time of year is especially unpredictable. Even several days out, the forecast can change pretty radically with weather systems not dipping as far south as they expect or moving faster or more slowly. Until it's much closer to race weekend, I'm not going to be too worried about rain or temperatures. Prepare for everything (ice to blazing heat) and hope for the best.

Has a lot to do with an anticipated front , pacific or arctic and the energy associated with the front. Not a lot of accuracy at this point.

If it is any comfort, the winter is the dry period for the Florida peninsula. Since 99, measurable heavy rain has only occurred once during the 2002 marathon. We did have sleet/snow in the 2010 half marathon but only a drizzle at best. The 2009 marathon had a nice downpour about 30-45 minutes after the last runner came in; but I do not count that as a rain race.

So one could look at this as it is rare, or we are due.

I saw that....what a bummer; they are saying 75% precip on Sat and Sun. I have the same question, how could they predict that far in advance?

Went out yesterday on the trail w/DS to frolic in the 6 inches of snow we got aiming for 20 miles. DS said he felt like we were slogging in the sand. It was a good w/o about 17:30 pace for 10 miles. Weather started changing and snow became ice. I fell, no injury. The remaining distance was a struggle for us both on the icy path. We made 13+ miles and called it off. Safety issues. So max distance will be 18 miler from the other week. Taper time. Goofy time ready or not here we come!
