Can Pride Go-Go Scooters go all day at Disney Parks? - The DIS Discussion Forums

Hi everyone,

I have a Pride Revo Scooter (2 12V/32AH's batteries) that makes it all day at Disney Parks.

I'm purchasing a Pride Go-Go/SC53 (2 12V/17AH's batteries). Do any of you have this scooter and can make it all day around the Parks.

I think this all depends on the user. First, are you diligent about shutting the scooter off every chance you have like watching a show, parade, fireworks and so forth? This saves battery power. Next, how heavy are you? If you are nearing the max weight allowed for this scooter then the battery's power gets used up a lot faster than someone at a much smaller weight. Finally, how long do you plan on being in the parks? We average about eight hours in the park and we have no problems with this scooter.

Making sure you recharge the battery every night with this scooter is important, too. When it's less powerful in battery strength it's important to have it at full capacity each day you use it at the parks.

Some people will re-juice in the parks as they eat a meal or whatever; so, bring your charger with you to the parks. Now, you have to get use to where you can plug in if you go this route.

When a scooter is new it seems to hold a charge better. As the battery gets older it seems to not be as a strong. This needs to be a consideration, too.

I have less than a year old Go-Go Elite Traveler Plus HD scooter with AH 17 or 18 batteries. I am not familiar with the SC53? I am assuming it is close in type. I can tell you that my scooter with those batteries can go TWO days, all day, at WDW without recharging. I do recommend that you recharge nightly, but wanted you to know that those batteries new have a lot of battery life. I would not buy anything with lower AH batteries.

I have the same scooter as Bedogged, except mine is not the HD version. Mine goes fine all day in the parks without the power bar moving off of green. It could probably go two days like Bedogged said, but I just charge it nightly and haven't had a problem except for one time when I had a bad cell, after having the battery for 3 years. They just don't make them like they used to! LOL!

Just as an FYI, our batteries from what I have been told is only supposed to have a 1 year life on them, but with diligent care, you can get more than that.

Actually, a lot depends on your weight, the age of the batteries, and the weight the ECV is rated to carry. Some of the older GoGos are rated for 250 lbs. My neighbor is 268 and even with new batteries on her older GoGo, she has to charge every time she uses it for even a short time.

I have the Go-Go Elite Traveller Plus (not HD), but I'm not sure what the battery size is. I did have problems one time, where I had to get off and walk my scooter up the bus ramp, rather than ride it because it couldn't make it up. However, that was at 2 am after 16 hours in the park, so I count that as reasonable.

One thing to be aware of -- the gauge is not linear. If it takes 10 hours to reach the half full mark, do not expect that you have 10 hours remaining. The second half goes a lot faster. If it ever gets to the point that you are feeling any loss of power going up inclines, plug in or head back. I continued for another hour or more, and had trouble getting on the bus.
