I too would go with Alamo. Not sure if Dollar has changed, but the last time we used them they "assigned" us a vehicle to pick up and we didn't actually get to choose which vehicles we wanted. (Sometimes we just don't want a white one and try to choose something that we can find in the parking lot). I like using the kiosk at the airport for Alamo because there is never anyone there using them and like being able to actually walk the aisle to decide which vehicle we want and what color we want. I always find that Alamo and National tend to have newer cars then ther other companies we've used.

Agreed I go with Alamo whenever possible. I like the ability to choose my car.

Alamo on line check in

Does anybody know if you rent through Costco travel that you can use the kiosk's? Since there is no coupon code to enter can I just do online check in? I have a minivan reserved May 16-21 for $253 which includes all fees and taxes.

In the past I have just used whatever deal and discount was being offered through corporate partner. Last week I figured what the heck try some of these codes and combinations that others were doing to get the best deal. So I tried them and at the same time made a new reservation on partner rate, which ended up slightly cheaper than DIS thread for a savings of $130. I just checked again and just saved another $60. (Alamo partner rate for May 11 - 18 mid-size for 8 days = $140; sorry no code to pass on as I can't even enter a coupon once I click on our internal site).

Lesson learned is follow DISs' advice on keep checking your rates, even without a coupon.

Thanks all!

Cheers!

Can someone give me the Alamo AP code? Will I need to show my AP when I arrive ? I ask because I'm the driver in the family and the only one in our family without an AP (at least until we hit the park and I upgrade my ticket). Thanks !

Disney Annual Pass code is 860292, I have used it about a half a dozen times in the past, never been asked to show an AP (though both my husband and I have them). We have used the kiosks in the past, and just last January did the straight to the car thing.

Just checked again, and was able to get my Alamo midsize rental for May 10-21 for $191, down $30 from last time. Both were using the $30 coupon and the AP discount code. Hope it goes down a little more, but $191 for 11 days works for me!

We ended up going a round about way. Mini van from Alamo at airport from the 4-8. $145 from Costco. Grandparents are leaving Wed. The 8th And will return van to airport. We will also be picking up a full size from National at Shades of Green on the 6th even though we don't need it until the 8th and returning at airport for $38 on the 11th. If we got the mini van for the week, it would have been $275. I think it's worth it for a difference of $95!

Right now I have my 7 day minivan reservation through Dollar for $258 with my AAA special rate. Using the recently posted Alamo codes the rental would be $306. So Alamo would be a little more for us but it sounds like we would probably have a faster check out and better vehicle if we went with Alamo. Not sure if I should stick with the lower rate I have now or not.

Thanks for posting that Alamo prices had finally come down! We were able to save $40 switching from Dollar to Alamo for our mid May trip.

DOWN again! $262.
