Been to Disneyland and didn't like it?
We've been to WDW numerous times now, gone to US and IoA as well.
Planning our next trip and we are looking to go to Disneyland this time. I've searched and searched and I keep reading mixed reviews. Some like DL others hate it. I've read it's small, county fair like, can be done in 1-2 days, crowded, and not that nice. Yet for all the negative reviews I read, there are also many positives. My question to all is: Have you been to DL and just did NOT care for it all? To the point you talk friends or family from going there? I guess I just don't want book this expen$ive trip only to say wow, I could have done all this at our local Six Flags. MODS: Didn't know where to put this thread (WDW or DL boards) so I put on the Welcome board. Please move this thread if need be. Thanks all! |

I have been to both and personally LOVE DL!!!! I love the quaintness of it, characters walking around interacting with guests, fast passing rides and able to get back in the fastpass times lot with little trouble. I also love that it was Walts dream and he visited this park unlike WDW. You can also fastpass a ride in CA park hop to DL and hop back to your fastpass in CA. Very family friendly.

So not "county fair like"! It's my single favorite park, followed by MK. And Carsland is amazing.

Overall, I loved it
I was disappointed with about half of DCA. I did get the county fair vibe there. Carsland is awesome though. Awesome! DL is fantastic! Many rides are better at DL and park hopping is super easy. It is way more magical and wonderful than six flags.

thanks everyone for your input.
as much negative reviews as i've read, they aren't enough to sway me away from giving DL a chance. as i mentioned, for every negative review, there was a positive one as well. sorta the same way when we went to US/IoA last year. read good both good and bad but after it was all said and done, we had a great time! i'll plan our trip and keep our fingers crossed all goes well again. thanks again everyone! |

I don't know how many times you been to WDW so that can also effect how you view DL. I liked DL when I went a year ago, I think that Disneyland has more attention to details than MK does. It's nice that the rides are closer together but the flip side of that is: that it more crowded
, think of the feel of WWoHP compare to the rest of IOA. 3 days was plenty time for me to do everything (but Carsland wasn't done yet). Toontown at DL is very different than what use to be at WDW and is not to be missed. Don't compare all of WDW to DL/DCA- it's more like MK&DHS smooshed together.

We went there when our nephew got married in Hollywood. We went to both Disney Land and California Adventure. We loved Disneyland but it was mobbed. We liked DCA much better. I personally did not think it had a country fair look. It was beautiful and had some classy places to eat. One of the restaurants we went to was The Napa Rose in the Grand Californian Hotel, a ***** rated restaurant and we loved it!

I've been to Disneyland multiple times and I get super excited every time I go! I wouldn't go so far as saying it's like a country fair...whoever said that, I want to go to their country fairs LOL! There's much to do, I would say to do everything you would need a good 3 days at both their parks, maybe 2 if you are good about keeping a schedule...but who wants to be on a schedule when they're at Disneyland?!
