For those who watch Dr. Phil
I've been watching his talk show for quite some time now. But has anyone else noticed how easily aggravated and pissed off he gets with some of these people?

Maybe that is what some of those people need to realize that they need to change

Remember that it's a TV show first. Without ratings and advertisers he would be off the air. His reactions are calculated. I'm sure he has long talks with the producers about what kinds of rants will get the highest ratings. If he only wanted to help people sort out their lives, he'd set up a practice in an office rather than do a TV show.

I agree with Robin. I would never be able to stay as calm as he does. If you think about it, these people are really broken. He does a good job of not coming out and saying what we are all thinking.
As for his book, I think it is his way to release his emotions. He is proud of the book and well I would want my child's job to take off also. He is proud of him. Isn't it usually right at the end? I usually do a small chore then before my next show. |

Yes, I have noticed. And yes, I too am sick of him plugging the family book.
I also feel he's more aggressive w/the women but it could just be me. And of course after tearing someone down he goes on to say how, smart, beautiful, intelligent, yada, yada, yada, they are....psychological crap. I guess he needs to keep the ratings up so he tries to make it more dramatic. He's becoming one of the shows I love to hate.

I think he's picked this season's guests on how they fit into the issues in his new book (he did this past seasons with his family book, and his other books). He CONSTANTLY brings it up -- not just at the end, which I could tolerate, but it feels like it's starting to be QVC on Dr Phil.
And lots of these people really deserve a good yelling at. I like how compassionate he is with kids, even if they're major screwups.

I love Dr. Phil, to me he is common sense. With that said, If I have to hear him plug his book one more time I'm going to throw his book at him LOL

I saw the episode the other day about the guy who lied to his wife for 5 years and said he was going to work when he really had no job. Dr. Phil basically just yelled at the guy, insulted him, asked him questions, and then interrupted him before he could answer anyway. Yes, what he did was deplorable, but the guy wasn't helped at all by being on the show. In my opinion, it didn't make Dr. Phil look any better to talk at this guy instead having a conversation with him. Maybe the part where he did that was edited out.

Yes, this. I have been watching Dr. Phil since he was on Oprah and I think he is great with the guests, but his incessant plugging of that book is making me think about taking him off the DVR. I don't remember it being this bad in the past with his other books. I agree with the poster who said it is like every show has to revolve around the book. Enough already!
