My husband and I are wavering on a trip in August before school starts versus my sons fall break (that we won't know when or if he is getting until May!!) For those that have been in August, what were temps like and the rain. How often have you had to deal with hurricanes? I am booking probably end of Jan/First of Feb.

I am prob not much help, but we have gone twice in August...once we had beautiful weather. It only rained ONE night. The second time (this past Aug) we had Isaac threatening our trip and it rained almost every day. The rain didn't really bother us because the hurricane didn't hit directly. We still threw on the ponchos and went to nearly empty parks. Fingers crossed that there won't be a hurricane next year, but I guess you just never know! As far as temps, both times were in the 80's and 90's, but that was the same temp as home, so we were fine with that too. Drinking lots of water, sunscreen, and breaks to the pool help. I think Aug is an awesome time to go.

I am getting ready to book our trip for August 21-August 29th at Art of Animation! My daughter, who is 7 has been dreaming of staying in an Ariel room "FOREVER, well since i was 5" if you ask her! It's going to be myself, my daughter, who's 7, my mom and my cousin (her college grad present!!!). My question is if I book it with the dining plan now and free dining is then offered, it was offered 2 years ago when we were there, can I get credited for it?

One word: hot. It you aren't prepared for the heat, then I don't recommend it. But it is Florida, so it's not a big shock or anything.
I mean everyday, you have the afternoon thunderstorm for a half hour then that is it, at least for me.
I went on the Dream last year and Hurricane Irene was a big problem for us, but I have never been at WDW when there is a hurricane.

Just wanted to say hi! I wasn't on the Aug 2012 thread, my daughter (LifeIsDis) took care of that! She has already posted our Aug 2013 dates, although the resort may change, depending on what we can get at 7 months with DVC....I wouldn't mind staying at WL the whole time, but it's nice to check out some of the other resorts too.
I wish we could go later in August, as we normally do, but our AP expires 8/12 so we had to do earlier...I am thinking it will be busier.
Can't wait to make ADRs!!! We already have too many in mind!

Booked a sister's trip for my younger sister and me on Monday officially! We will be staying at All Star Movies from August 12th to August 17th! This will be my fifth time in Disney, most recently the summer of 2011, and my sister's third time in Disney, most recently March of 2000!! It is our first sister's trip ever; I am 20 and she is 17, and we are ecstatic to share this memory together!

...Is it August yet?!

My first trip to Disney was when I was 25 years old, and I went with my brother, who was 23, neither of us had ever been there before and we had always wanted to go, so we did it and it was the most wonderful first trip ever!! I was last there in August 2010, looking forward to a family girls trip this time with my Mom, daughter and cousin :-) You will have a great time with your sister!

My first trip ever was in April and I'm 37! Next August I'm taking my sister, she'll be 53 (thank goodness she isn't on the boards, she'd kill me LOL) and this is going to be her first ever trip! I'm not sure who's more excited about this LOL
