Saturday August 18, 2012: Day 1 – Part 1

Who’s excited to have their alarm go off at 4:27am?? This gal!! Well, let me clarify, I am excited to wake up that early only when there is a castle to behold at the end of the day!



So I probably got about 4 hours and 26 minutes of sleep but it would have to do since we needed to catch a plane. My dad arrived at our house at 5:30am to drive us the whopping 7 minutes to our local airport.

If anyone read my PTR I had mentioned that as a surprise I had booked 1st class airfare for the three of us. However, I ended up spilling my guts to Michael since I couldn’t keep the secret all the way until the trip. Here’s how that conversation took place:

Me: So do you want to know the secret I have planned?
Michael: You want to tell me don’t you? Just tell me since it’s going to make you feel better!
Here’s where he started just asking questions so I thought I’ll just let him guess so I won’t technically tell him the secret!
Michael: Does it involve a ride?
Brenda: Yes, but not in the way you think.
Michael: Is it during the trip?
Brenda: Define when the trip starts?
Michael: Is it in traveling to our hotel?
Brenda: Yes
Michael: Does it have to do with an airplane? Do we have window seats?
Brenda: You are close. (He was asking good questions)
Michael: Our seats were upgraded to 1st class?
Brenda: Not really….
Michael: Below first class?
Brenda: Well, it’s the definition of one of those words.
Michael: First? Or Class? Is it first class seats?
Brenda: YES!
Michael: That’s cool! And just so you know…. As eager as I was to share this surprise, I shouldn’t have. The night before we left Michael accidently said something that Emily overheard and that was it… no more surprise!









So there we were at the airport…we’d checked our 5 bags, went through security and no bells or alarms went off so we were apparently fine. Once on the plane I immediately made use of all of the complimentary amenities – heck I’m going to look like a tourist in 1st class – and I got out the blanket, the pillow and started to take photos! Michael was sitting across the aisle from Em and I so he could pretend that he didn’t know me. That is until I hand the camera to him and ask him to take a photo of us! "Why certainly lady that I don't even know!!"



Here’s the link to my first dining review – albeit plane food – but still the first meal of the trip!

We had a connecting flight through DFW so our next flight segment contained lunch. Yippee! Another meal!



We boarded our flight at DFW and I was immediately offered a cocktail. Why yes, I would like a Bloody Mary please. Now here’s the thing, I thought I would be able to leisurely enjoy my drink but no, they informed me 2 minutes after it was served that I had to finish it before the flight took off. Hmph! I finished most of it but I didn’t think it would be a great idea to slam that cocktail.



Since there's not a lot to tell here... let's just say that we ate again. Here's the link to our lunch served on the plane.

Em and I have a tradition to watch Disney’s Tangled on her iPhone during our flight to Orlando. So following this tradition we enjoyed this adorable Disney movie.



By the time the movie was almost over, we were landing. Yay!!!! We are finally here! Our flight landed at 5pm.

Well I am embarrassed, since I read your dining report first and was surprised you had two meals on your flight. Now I see why.

Yep, hate to fly, so a bit slow on the draw. We drive from central TX and are leaving in NINE days!!

I love bloody Marys or Caesars (up here in Canada). Wow that is early but I agree with you. Brenda- worth it if there is a castle involved. XD

I learned something - a Bloody Caesar is a Bloody Mary - very cool! Do they serve them with a veggie garnish (celery) or green olives too? I've also had them with lime.

Do you copy add all of your photos into Photobucket in the size you want? (Customize your Upload Options)

I think my default copy size is Large: 640x480.

You are off to a GREAT start!!!

I wake up between 4:30 and 5 am every morning, so this would not be a issue for me. And definitely not a struggle knowing what was ahead at the end of the day.

on First Class! I appreciated the pictures and review of the food. It all looked yummy. What a great flavor combination in the blueberry & white chocolate cookie. YUM!

I loved the transcription of your conversation with Michael! Too funny!

BTW- Your "assignment" list is awesome.
