Hi everyone and to a Disney College Program Pre-Trip Report!

Thanks for joining me on this adventure!!!!!! So, here are a few introductions:

Who:

Me, Deva (pronounced Dayva), an almost 20 year old (I'll be 20 on Sep. 25th) Music Education major at Eastern Michigan University!



Why: I have wanted to work for Disney since I came out of the womb...and I'm not joking I have always loved Disney; my obsession started when I saw The Little Mermaid for the first time when I was 4! I remember my mom bought me the movie a month before we went to Disney World for the first time, and I was instantly hooked! I went to Disney World for the first time in 1996, and ever since, all I've wanted to do is work for the Mouse!

In my senior year of high school I decided for sure that I wanted to do the CP, and at that point (April 2010), I had planned on applying for the Fall 2010 DCP. Unfortunately, things changed Fast forward to June of 2010 and I had moved to Kansas City, Missouri to go to community college and live with my grandparents. I went to Maplewoods Community College for a year, and in June of 2011 I decided to move back to my home state of Michigan and attend EMU.

In September of 2011 I was starting my first semester at EMU, and I was loving life! I felt like I was finally where I was supposed to be! I knew that I wanted to do the DCP, but I wasn't quite sure when. In December of 2011 I went to the DCP presentation on my college campus and met one of my DCP friends, Nicole. She has done two DCP's and is now a campus rep. She answered most of my questions, and I decided to apply for the Fall 2012 DCP.

Fast forward to the week before apps come out, and I had to sign up for my winter classes. I went and saw my counseler, and after a long talk, and a few tears shed, I had to put my dreams on hold. Basically, at that point in time, I still had three-four semesters of general classes before I could start my music ed program, and at that point I was still a nursing major.

Needless to say, I decided that it just wasn't the right time for me to do the DCP. Fast forward to now, and I am absolutely applying for the Fall 2013 DCP. This April I will be done with all of my general classes, and so I figure that this is the absolute perfect time for me to take a little break and do the dcp! I still have to take 6 credit hours worth of classes while I'm doing the dcp (which is normally 2 classes) but I figure I'll be fine!

Okay, sorry for that insanely long story! Now for the fun stuff!

When: Applications come out in late January, so that's when I will be applying! I plan on doing the Fall Advantage program, and I, hopefully, will transfer to the University of Central Florida to do my Music Education program after I finish the DCP.

What: This will be my planning journal, and, hopefully my Pre-Trip and DCP-report!

Previous Trips

Okay! I figure that I should start back where it all started, in 1996

Trip 1: 1996


When: June 1996
Where: Grand Floridian
Who: Me (Age 4), Mom (5 months pregnant with little bro), Grandparents

The people that came on this trip were me, my mom (who was 5 months pregnant with my little brother), and my grandparents. We stayed for a week at the Grand Floridian, and we toured every park plus Blizzard Beach. I don't remember much from this trip, since I was only 4, but I can remember certain things! Here are some pictures from that trip:










Trip 2: 1997

This trip occurred not too long after our first trip! We got back and the Disney Bug hit us hard! My grandparents wanted my brother to experience DW too, so we decided to take him as part of his 1st Birthday gift!

When: August 1997
Where: Grand Floridian, again!
Who: Me (Age 5), Mom, Brother (10 Months), and Grandparents

Trip 3: 2004

This trip happened because of me I had been begging to go back, and my grandparents decided that it would make a great first family vacation with my step-dad!

When: July 2004
Where: Animal Kingdom Lodge
Who: Me (Age 11), Mom, Step-Dad, Brother (Age 6), and Grandparents

My mom and step-dad got married in May of 2004, and so this was kind of their honeymoon as well!





Trip 4: 2006

This was my Freshman year Marching Band trip! We performed at the Tomorrowland Terrace Theatre, and spent a week in Florida! As of right now, I don't have any pictures uploaded, but I will get them tomorrow!

When: March 2006
Where: All Star Music
Who: My entire High School Marching Band (I was 13)

Trip 5: 2008

This was a grandparents and grandkids trip! Again, I made this one happen

When: July 2008
Where: Saratoga Springs
Who: My grandparents, my brother (Age 10), and Me (Age 15)

This was my senior year spring break/graduation gift trip.

When: April 12-20, 2010
Where: Port Orleans Riverside
Who: Me (Age 17), and my Mom

I have some very big news!!!!

I applied for the Spring Advantage 2013 Disney College Program!!!!

I applied on October 1st, had my web-based interview October 2nd, and my phone interview October 10th. So now, it's a waiting game I honestly just want my acceptance email!!!!!

Here are my top three roles
1. Vacation Planner
2. Costuming
3. Concierge

I am so incredibly excited, and I cannot wait to (hopefully) start living out my dream!!!!!

I GOT ACCEPTED!!!

On October 15th, 2012 I got the email that changed my life forever I screamed and started crying and I am so happy!!!!!!!! I was accepted for the Spring Advantage 2013 DCP, and I'm going to be working in costuming!!! Costuming was my number 2 choice, and I am SO excited!!!!! I have already accepted my role, and my Arrival date is January 7th!!! I have been waiting to sign up for classes, but I have paid my fees and now I just have to wait! I will keep you guys updated, but I had to tell you all!
